Thanks, John. Wow, that's a nice sharp lens, and love the starburst. I am thinking of replacing my DA 16-45 with a f/2.8 zoom in the same range so I can have a little better low light performance. It seems that people really like their Tammy 17-50.

How is the autofocus-- any backfocus or front focusing issues? Did you use AF fine lens adjustments? Any sample pictures you could post that were taken with this lens?

Thank you

That's my favorite combination too! It's like they were made for each other. K-01 should have been released with a DA 21XS version instead of DA 40XS.

Thanks for your images that show what this camera, and the DA 21, can do!

Returns to Adorama during a holiday period

Not sure what forum to post this question, but I shipped back a defective lens to Adorama last Saturday morning. The shipment tracker shows the package was delivered this morning. But I just read that Adorama (and B&H) are closed this week in observance of the Passover holiday. My questions are: (1) will my package be kept somewhere secure and safe, or is it sitting outside their delivery door?, and (2) should I assume that my return will not be processed until they reopen this Sunday?

Thanks for any help!

I don't understand why sometimes the black versions are different prices from the silver ones. Maybe it's supply and demand. Functionally and optically they are they are same, it's just cosmetics!

Electronics Basket has a mixed reputation and I believe they often sell cameras that are separated from their originally bundled lenses. Not necessarily grey market products but I'm sure Ricoh/Pentax is not thrilled about such seller practices.

I think that at the time of the original posting, the deal was "fulfilled by Amazon" even though the camera was offered by a third party. That makes a difference as far as Amazon customer service goes, but I'm not sure how it affects the honoring of the warranty.

What WR body to consider pairing with my K-01?

I think K-50 is the best price/performance option, but I'm tempted by the K-S2 and its tilting screen, wifi, and no AA filter. Plus I think the AF screwdrive motor is faster. I will follow your choice closely because I'm thinking of adding a WR body to my K-01 also...

Should I sell my 16-45?

Thanks for everyone's help! I'm not sure I'm interested in buying anything right now, so I might just hang onto the 16-45 until such time that I find a need for a new lens. Then I can sell the 16-45 and put the money towards the next lens, or maybe a new body like K-S2!

Should I sell my 16-45?

I have 4 DA limited (smc version) primes (all but the DA 35 macro), which I really enjoy using. I also have two nice zooms, DA 18-135 and 16-45. I don't find I need longer than 135mm generally so I'm not interested in more telephoto options.

Here's where I'd like some advice. I've been considering selling my 16-45 as I find I don't use it as much as my 18-135. It's an excellent lens for the price, and the slightly wider angle to 16mm is handy at times, but I often find 45mm is a bit too short of a reach, so I don't take it out on trips much. I also like the smaller size, better build, silent focusing, and WR of the 18-135. Although my images are somewhat sharper with the 16-45 than with my 18-135, I'm not sure the difference is worth keeping it around. If I need wider than 18mm, I reach for my DA 15.

I've also toyed with the idea of selling both 16-45 and 18-135 and getting the new 16-85. It's a bit pricey but gets such great reviews...

I often have seller's remorse so I am worried that if I sell my 16-45, I'll miss it sometimes, and that I should just find a way to justify keeping it around. It's not going to fetch a whole lot of money anyway.

Thanks for any thoughts you may have.

I'm a big fan of my DA 16-45 and have no barrel wobble. I am interested in the new 16-85 because of the extra reach and silent focusing would be nice to have. Does anyone know if the new 16-85 is sharper than (or as sharp as) the 16-45 across the shared range?

I've been super happy with my 18-135 when paired with my k-01. nice compact size, convenient shooting range, and great colors in the images. plus it's sharp enough when used outdoors! It really is an underrated lens.

How well does this lens work with CDAF? I have a K-01 and am looking for a lens that will allow me to shoot indoors without flash. This might be the trick but is the CDAF performance good? Do you know if it balances well with K-01? Thanks.

Just a quick update on this old thread I started last July-- I recently picked up a used but excellent copy of the DA 16-45 for a real good price, and have been extremely happy with its performance on my K-01. Lightweight and sharp images, beautiful colors, and I especially like the extra wide angle it provides. It's a keeper!

Have you used this lens with your K-01 and if so, does it perform well? I'm looking for a faster zoom lens than my 18-135 to use for indoor shooting.
