Okay now the gm5 got a 100e refund that make it down to 469e atm!
lens is slower and less range.. no tilt screen and VF seems less comfortable... but... it's 4/3, bit more mpx and much lighter and compact! SR is on lens but i would probably stay with the kit lens anyway..

Hello!

Yes the x t10 will be hell of a good deal, tho too close to a reflex pricetage to me still... and not enough "low profile" when attached with a zoom ;(

The pro low light features is certainly a nice feature! As seems to be the "pro focus". Actually it might have been used in the few pictures thats have impressed me at 1600+ iso. Tho as good as it sounds for still images, the result might be a bit ackward with moving people and objects? But it's def a features to notice and use, as is the snappy low light autofocus.

Having soft and details low light pictures is great, having the subject you want in focus fast is sweet too!

And the build quality, since we are not in the rx100 weight area, it is a really good point. I would love to have that a good feeling about my all around camera, even if its not top notch IQ... too bad its not WR tho, could use that living near the sea :(

I v been thru some of the post on your thread allready^^ And they, as yourself, make pretty good pics with those little x series! Some really awesome shots with great colors and good details.

Though i v been deeper in the x30 samples on flick and while i found some really decent 1600 and even 3200 iso pictures: loads of 1600 if not 800iso seems more noisy that i would expect. Dunno if those are use on purpose (i do love some noise at some point) or a really disapointing limit of the sensor. It's hard to compare with other devices like omd or a6000 when it comes to mix sensor size, lens, f stop and hardware process.
Comparing x30 on image ressource at 1600 iso there's not "that much" difference in details/colors with the rx100 mk3 or lx100 but well i don't know :s

About the x10 i m still having an eye on deals, tho i would also have good use the evf/ screen/ battery life of the x30.....

Decisions, decisions...

Thanks for the kind advices here anyway :)

Well i have seen your post about the oly and both 10 and 5 are certainly impressive monsters! and i certainly could (and may) buy it in a heart beat, on a pretty good deal. Same goes with a used next 6.

Fact is also that i could be more tempted to go cheaper and smaller with the x20 than the omd.... if it wasn't for the battery/100% cover and handy screen for street shot i might be aiming for the x20.

Also, as dumb as it may sound, i d be afraid to get too close to my k30 and let it starve in a closet :o ... and it is allready hard enough to fight the lba on pentax

Hello!

So i m considering the fuji to use for everyday walk around and when i just wont carry my k30 without beeing sure i ll have the use for it, and eventually to take along the k30 (with 30mm i use the most and an occasional 50-300) and get ride of the 18-55 and FA 50mm (i found out that i barely go under 30ish mm anyway).

The k30 sidekick would need to have a viewfinder.. I realise it could (and should) be smaller but i believe its ok for my need and i kinda like the fact that it also feel solid.

What i m concerned about is the IQ of the x30 especially in low light.. I v seen about every review around and well , conclusions seems to go both ways! I m actually ok not beeing able to go over 1600iso since i m allready "stuck" with it on k30 and i m ok with it.
Considere that i m only posting on flick and such for familly and friends, few personnal printing so i know i don't need the professionnal stuff.. but still concerned to get something decent!

My other concern would be the noise it makes from turn on to shoot, since my cons on the k30 would be that its well, "dslr heavy" and the shutter is loud and disturbing for the surrounding and myself.

Any real life x30 pentaxians user could share their opinion?
Also i believe i v been thru about every possibilities available, but what else would you think i should get on the 300-400e/doll range in the used/sales area?

at least you have the choice to use quality and bulky pentax gears ;) All small hands have are old gears or Q.
I would use a a small and light dslr as second set, for daytime normal/street shooting. Of course it would make less impact with a 300/500 zoom.. Anyway i wouldn't expect it to be as effective than a k3 for low light or sport shots. I would just want it to be small and effective enough, and able to carry my pk gears!

Macro Use of a Canon fd 50mm 1.4?

allright ! honestly i got lost in the whole extension thing :D Bought a cheapo adapter from china allready , will see how the deglassing goes when it arrives someday ^^

If i get a bit more serious about macro, i ll probably try to get a decent 150mm+ md mount and keep benefits of the brand new raynox idk... One should figure what i can do with it and the fa 50 this week end anyway ;)

Macro Use of a Canon fd 50mm 1.4?

Hi there!

I just ordered a raynox 150 to play and try to do some proxy/ macro with my fa50 1.7 and eventually my 50 200wr.. I was first tempted by a extension tube, then though I had only that 50mm with an f ring, and that raynox would be more convenient to use, and the af could still get some use for the not so close shots..

Then I recall I had an old canon lens from my father, with f ring too and wich is actually faster. Since some adapters seems to exist for 20ish bucks, could I get some use of that extra light? And eventually used it reversed? (I was not much fond of reversing my fa) I would actually like to give it a second life, and eventually not have to tweak too much my quite fragile and beloved fa50..

I suppose if you want the best price possible, it will more likely be the 24mpx rather than 36. And that shall be good enough for me

First they going to tell her what to use, then where to shoot and what not...
The best way to make a good business in photography imho is to shoot with something you are comfortable with and that let you focus on inspiration..

Pentax K-30: Have a prime & kit lens - Looking for upgrade

Had a 6 months brainstorming about sigma 30 vs 18 35... getting the 18-35 you would miss the uga of 10mm between your choices, if you are into it
The pros of the sigma zoom is that its very sharp and pretty fast on the whole range. The downside would be that the range is small, the lense is quite heavy, and the autofocus not that top notch accurate nor fast as i have seen (not at the lvl of IQ i mean)

Well sigma 18 35 should be handy on low light indoor kids.. no af issues on selected af point with 30mm, i havent really tried auto select af.

i made the road sigma 30 + pentax 50 1.7 with my k30: the sigma is really silent and fast, the 30mm and 1.4 helps a lot indoor in low light and night shots.
If low light is not that much of a concern, i would seriously considere the 18 135 wr to replace the 18 55, both more versatile and sharper (also quite silent and fast) and usable both indoor under decent light, and outside.
Keep in mind the k30 itself is mechanicaly fairly loud, dont be disappointed about it.

choosing indoor natural light lens

Even if i used it on that purpose for a while, i found my fa 50 1.7 to be a bit too long for close portrait indoor in natural and low light, with kido running around. A shame since it s a pretty fast , light and sharp low light lens... but its still usable for that purpose i guess.
Went for a sigma 30 1.4 art, twice the price and weight, not so sharp on the corner under f4, but faster, lower minimum focus and pretty silent autofocus (doesnt make much difference since i have a noisy k30 sadly)

Overall the da35 is cheap, light and sharp choice obviously, but i just wanted a faster lens than my fa50 for arty purpose.

What is your opinion on the best type of lens hood?

i d go for stock hood, if there isn't one include, i get a cheap rubber that can collapse.
I never had to use a metal hood, but always been afraid that it would be so solid that it could break down the lens during a shock.

Sorry if the answer is obvious or allready answered, couldnt find so far, my question would be... if i set up my camera on burst (lets say high burst) instead of single frame just in case i need it: is there any downside not using single frame shot for normal shot?

I have a vanguard biin 37 sling bag and love it. It small and light tho i can take +3 lenses quite easy.
And the design doesn't shout "i have lot of expensive stuff there".. also couldn't live without the slingshot system!

The con is that its not WR so i use a rain cover from national geographic.

You can checkout https://aventurereflex.wordpress.com/2013/04/10/la-vraie-taille-des-sacs-pho...-collaboratif/ wich compare few bag review with highlights on the "real" sizes) there you can see how compact biin 37 is
