PC build with AMD Ryzen 1800X

I realized the limitation of my i5 4590 when I started doing some video conversions and rendering in Blender. It's good for games, but for professional use, no dice.

My next build will be based on B350 and Ryzen 5 1600, 6 cores and 12 threads, what's not to like. It is on par with Intel processors which are way to expensive for my taste like i7 6800, not to mention motherboards for these.

So good we have some competition in the computer processor arena, Intel was doing annual 3-5% performance increments for the past 8 years, and charging arm and a leg, not to mention changing the processor socket for each new iteration (so you have to buy new MB every time).

He has several good points. I don't think he's negative, just realistic. If you want to be known or appreciated as a photographer, you will need to invest much more than couple of hours per week to take some photos.

Today, success is measured by how many followers you have on instagram, flickr or 500px and how many likes will your photo attract. Large percentage of these "instagram celebrities" use paid services and scripts that make the social voting system meaningless and are based on "I follow you, you follow me, I unfollow you", and "I like your photo, you like my photo" etc. Their photos are meaningless and I couldn't care less about them. They are mostly copycats, same long exposure for the 100th time.
I dropped out of that race and I take photos of the things that matter to me and of the things that I found beautiful. If someone likes them, great.

I'm not in any way a professional photographer, but I can recognize BS when I see it.
Stopped reading DPR a while back, it's just a bunch of trolling and clickbaiting. Not to mention distorting facts, writing only advertiser approved content and emphasizing only those facts that contribute to their idea/premise.

Sorry to hear your lens is broken. I think I would be devastated if something like this happens to me.
I did consider ordering the 16-85 from fleabay but it's too much of a risk, and now when I read a story like this, it's basically out of the question.

I think it's completely unacceptable for the lens to fall apart by itself like that, even after 5 years. Are you sure no one else handled your camera and accidentally dropped it or something?

If you are choosing between Asus and Asrock mobo, I would go with Asus.

Related to memory, you will not see any real world difference between 2400 vs 3200. It's just some benchmarks that show the difference.

Related to overclocking, I would invest in a good cooling solution (liquid cooling), if you want to do this right.
If you don't want to mess with that, just leave it at stock, I bet it will be more than fast enough.

Moreover, all the big software companies will publish patches that will optimize their software/games for the new Ryzen architecture.
Basically, it's plenty fast as it is, software patches will make it even faster as time passes.

Lightroom editing, what am I doing wrong?

Related to overall quality, this seems much better than the initial one. Still, jpg is weak when dealing with fine color gradients.
It also depends on your monitor, higher quality monitors (expensive ones) can display gradients much nicer than cheap ones.

For this particular image, I don't see the point of sharpening. What is there to sharpen? This scene does not benefit from sharpening.
Here are a couple of steps you can try:

1. Disable all sharpening
2. Facebook will ruin any photo, but you have a chance if you upload 2560px on the long side and jpg quality to 95.
3. Check if you have some grain added in the effects

As far as I have seen, Flickr did not do any noticeable damage to photos I uploaded. It is a photo sharing community, and it would not make sense for them to ruin photos in this way.

I honestly like that Pentax is not overreacting to every single new gadget that is released.

Fuji medium format mirrorless looks interesting, but as far as I can see there are only 3 lenses for it.

I watched the promo video on B&H news page, and it's laughable & sleazy.

M6 is used by a young woman photographer who is having fun with her friends, the 77D is used by a man doing some product shooting of candy factory, and the t7i is used by a mom-beginner-photographer to take pics of her children.

The most disgusting is the "optional OVF" which they sell for $249 (!)

Out of these I guess 77D is decent, but I don't see anything new or revolutionary. It's just put together from parts of other cameras in their lineup
