This unit is specific to certain brands, correct? I would order to be used with Pentax DSLR AND a Ricoh GR3. Would the Pentax configuration be the choice for BOTH cameras?

Larry mc, I enjoyed your Flickr pages! (My DCIM didn't disappear after I formatted a few times. I just ignored it and placed the new file on the K-3 file[?] )

BINGO! Thanks. Obviously my rudimentary computer terminology/skills are lacking. Thank you!

It was the DCIM deal

"No dice!" What you pointed out is what I have done, both using the computer "Download" file and then opening the bin file and copying it to the to the K-3 DCIM file in the "finder." (file tree on iMac). I have also tried to download to my SD card in the Mac's card slot and then transferring the card from the computer into the camera and turning it on while holding down the Menu button. There seems to be no way to go directly from Ricoh webpage to K-3; just to the computer. I'll just have to find a Mac person rather than bother you "guys" anymore. Thanks a whole bunch anyway, Mistral et. al

PS: looking at Stuffit made me not want to add more on top of the mess I already have. Times like this and really kick myself for switching from PC to Mac.

Thank you to the Pentax Forums Team for sending me the link to the updated US Ricoh. I tried again with same result. Now have done these ever since K-10 and didn't have any problems. My version is 1.40 which indicates it's been successful in the past.

None of the BOLD items show on my display:

"Updates the camera firmware" appears in the LCD monitor.
Ver: 1.00/1.01/1.02/1.03 /1.10 / 1.11/1.20/1.21/1.30/1.40 →1.41 will be displayed.
Press the four-way controller to select "Start" and press the "OK" button.
"NOW LOADING" appears on the LCD monitor and updating starts.
Please do not under any circumstances switch off the power before the update is completed.
When update is completed, the "COMPLETE" will be displayed at the left bottom of the LCD monitor, then turn the camera off.

Thanks, Rick (feeling like a senile old man)

US site has 1.21 as the latest update. I'll wait a bit longer and then try the Japanese site

---------- Post added 06-20-20 at 03:13 PM ----------

The error says: "Unable to expand 'fwdc220.bin'. It is an unsupported file." When the original download is clicked this file appears: 'K-3_v141 1.23.39 PM.zip'], with the same error stated when clicked.

Sorry to bother you folks. I'm getting to the age point, that when my tech balks, I get a a queezy gut feeling. PF is SO much more accessible than Ricoh or Apple.

My Mac says it's unable to open file, although the bin file does look like it comes out of the zip file as another zip file, but that when clicked has the same result,.. nada. I've tried with formatted card in K-3 and the computer. I don't think I have had a problem updating previously. The Ricoh website doesn't seen t have it up yet. I guess I'll wait until that happens. I don't own the 50mm anyway, but anything additional might be good.

Just curious: Pentax offers a "lowest temperature" operating measurement but there is no mention of the upper limit. I am sure it's not very high, but I'm thinking of traveling, parking for a short time...? It is probably a matter of the lubricant in the machine.

No, but They just ask for one. Think it must have something to do with working in Lightroom and editing in Elements? It shows in LR but not from the file outside of LR.

My images are not recognized as Pentax images in the Ricoh Gallery. It's been awhile since I have uploaded and I have five images that have been up for quite some time but wanted to update my offering. The file uploads almost completely and then stops and a dialogue pops up saying it is not a Pentax/Ricoh camera. I only own that brand and all the information is showing in the metadata. Any suggestions? I do use Lightroom and Elements 2018 on some images but that should not change that info right? :(
