Tablet for digital editing?

I use Wacom and loving it so far. I'm actually just starting to edit using a tablet. So I still use my mouse with my left hand. I don't know if that is a common practice but, it helps my personal workflow. There's a ton of tutorials online to help get you through the curve faster. Youtube has quite a few. For me it's constant playing around in Photoshop, which actually is helping me learn both pretty quick. I'd suggest getting one.

What about a manual focus FF?

I'd be in since I keep everything in manual most of the time anyway.
My first major realization when I bought my first DSLR (a K30) was all those attractive user settings and features didn't mean squat once I turned it on and set everything on manual.

FA 31, 43 & 77 future upgrades ?

I agree, they shouldn't go further than this. Really IMO updating them could be a bad move as the expectations would be too high. "So, "if it's not broke, don't fix it." Make something distinctly new like D-FA*s.

DFA* 20 f2.8
DFA* 85 F1.4
DFA* 135 F2.8
...and I'd ditch the DA 21Ltd.
As it is, the DA series is missing a wider * lens itself.

Need advice picking a prime!

For street the 21mm and I'd definitely bump the 40mm further down the list.
But for shooting in general, I'd start with a normal focal length, then through shooting with it, I'd decide which direction to go next. For macro I suggest getting a 100mm variant.
Good luck!

Good choice. The K-3 will take you further I think. The memory card should be good as well. Personally I'd owned two tripods for a while now and actually just upgraded my compact option only a couple of weeks ago.
I think they still come in handy and there are shots you just can't shoot handheld, self portraits is one that I do a lot. The Manfrotto should be decent, but I never used a 190xbpro, so I'm not sure.

If it's in good condition, you'll probably never see it at that price again. At least not for a long while.

LBA Cured ! SMC-K 24mm 3.5...Scored Last Lens !

Well congratulations! I hope you enjoy them.
As for me, the lenses I want I'm not buying, I only buy what I use. One actually doesn't exist anyway. That would be a wide-angle DA* prime. I might buy two more FF primes when I get a FF. My APS-C line up is as complete as yours.;)

I remember saying almost the exact same things once, but now I realize, "the more I fight, the worse it gets."
I just bought my LAST two lenses, now I want four.:hmm:

Yes sir. It has made my longer primes have a more specific purpose. I'm going to roll with the 31 and the 50-135 for a while and see how that works. Not sure if the 55 will immediately join the bag or not. But we'll see once it gets here.

At this point all I can say is the DA* 50-135 is perfect! For me at least. I definitely want a 70-200mm for FF when I get one and somehow I know they're going to make DFA* 85 for the FF soon after completing the zoom range. I'll want that too. So when FF hits, a body and two lenses, then I'm through. Still waiting on the DA* 55.

Thanks!

:lol:Trust me, I milled that one over a thousand times! I spent hours reviewing both the Tamron & Sigma 70-200 options, along with the Sigma 50-150 and I kept getting drawn back to the 50-135. This purchase was months in the making. If it wasn't going to be the 50-135, it would have been the 50-150.

Love the shot Rondec, thanks!

I don't mind. For aps-c I'm pretty much good on lenses away. If I had it my way, I'd only be shooting portraits. When I get a FF I should only need two or three lenses with what I have already. Plus I have no immediate intention of dumping aps-c, the K-3 & K-5iis are perfectly good cameras and I haven't owned either a year yet.:D

Thanks y'all.

Not me, but I've read on more than one occasion that it's about the same as the SDM. Don't know how true that is though.

As much as I wanted to stick to primes, and as scared as I was about SDM issues, I finally gave into temptation and got a DA* 50-135. And to make the dent in my pocket worse, I snatched up a DA* 55 as well. I've seen too many outstanding images and read too many reviews of professed love for the DA*s that I have to try them. Also, when I shoot portraits, there's too many times that lens changes have disrupted my groove.
I tried to talk myself into buying a Sigma 50-150 instead to feel more confident with AF issues, but I can't loose with the DA* 50-135:

1. I want that Pentax quality I've been seeing in so many images.
2. I like working fast and consistent. (less lens changes)
3. IMO, It covers the premium portrait focal lengths perfectly.
4. I could always get the SDM disabled with no worries in the worst case scenario, because I don't mind noisy screw drives.

With all that said, I couldn't find anything negative enough to stop me from buying it. I was considering getting a DA* 16-50 or DA 15Ltd, but I still can't bring myself to pull that trigger, so I just bought a DA* 55 instead.

"So Your Honor, ....I'm a changed man!!!" I will soon have a zoom again. I couldn't wait to add them to my signature, but sadly I have to wait to start shooting with them.:hmm:

Congrats!
Hope you enjoy it!
I personally don't Focus Peak, just because I haven't felt a need to, but others seem to love it. If you ever get that capability give it a run, it might be for you. When it comes to photography, I won't knock anything I haven't tried.

Focus Peaking: From what I under is: digitally highlighting the in focus areas in camera, to manual focus quickly to not miss shots. It's good when you have poor eyesight. "I'm sure someone will correct this if I'm wrong. Like I was saying, I'm not that familiar with it.";)

ISO(or ASA): light sensitivity; the higher to number, the higher the sensitivity and often when very high more noise(grain in film) digital can be fixed in Photoshop. High ISO helps with low-light/night and action photography by enabling faster shutter speeds for stop action and helping to prevent motion blur seen in long exposures.

WR: Weather resistant
MF: manual focus [(OR) medium format]
AF: auto focus
If not too late: with the K-5 you could attach a portrait grip with extra battery for double the power and easier handling when shooting vertical. (K-7 as well)
I hope this helps some.

This is a noble thing. Too bad they don't carry Pentax. Like a lot of folks my FF saving has begun, but I don't really plan to get one as soon as it ships even if I could. Since it will be the first, I plan to just watch from the side lines for a while. When it comes to the 645Z, I would have to be a pro to justify buying one.

I hear you!
When my K-3 arrived I was showing it to a teacher and made a comment about not having a Pentax FF option. He was like, "Yeah, but you guys have medium format!"
I'd probably fall so deep into dept trying to maintain a 645Z system, I don't even want to think about it. "Totally not an option for me right now, but maybe in the future"

True. A couple of years ago I chose a K30 over the D5200 a month or so later, I learned that Pentax had no FF DSLR offering and was shocked. It was a little discouraging but I liked my K30 so much, I stayed with Pentax and upgraded. Had I known Pentax had no FF before I bought the K30, I probably would've got the D5200. APS-C is cool for school, but at some point I will be getting a FF and now I won't have to look elsewhere.
