A good explanation of why legacy lenses may not be as good on digital:

sensors

The pertinent comment, from that article, is:
"if photosites are above 8 micron then high quality legacy 35mm lenses are likely to be adequately matched in resolution terms.
BUT if photosites are less than 7-8 micron, then the lenses may be the limiting factor in resolution, especially zoom lenses and dedicated lenses designed for digital may be required to get the most out of the sensor (hence Olympus ZD lenses)."

I would rather cut off my right leg than shoot a wedding. Besides the photographic challenges, you have to deal with emotionally irrational people.

Absolutely true. I hate to shatter dreams, but if it uses a 36 or 42mp sensor, the 'old' lenses will have very poor corner performance - okay for the odd, dreamy, portrait but will be very disappointing for any landscape work (and no, pixel shifting, won't help)

Pamela, I'm in Western Canada and do have a K-5 II and a K-3 I wish to sell. Both are low mileage, and are in great condition. If you're potentially interested in either, PM me. And for the moderators, I have no problem going through the selling/buying forum.

I totally agree with you.
I would also add that it is I believe it is questionable that Sigma would offer its Art line in a K mount. For a company, it's all about the numbers, which is probably why a Sigma lens will usually be released in the Canon mount before a Nikon. Sigma is far more likely to offer Sony specific lenses before they offer anything additional for Pentax.

Could stand a slight crop at top & bottom to increase the linear, and diminishing, feel of the photo. Darkening the shadows would heighten the sensation of isolation as well.

The cropped photo shown on the selection page doesn't do this photo justice. I was going to comment that it needed a tighter crop on the left, and then when I saw the uncropped photo, I realize it didn't. If this photo makes it through, include the whole photo.

I'm a wimp, because Ken said so.
He said all tripod users are wimps, I use a tripod, ergo I'm a wimp. Thanks Ken.
Anyone wanting to dispute his claim as to whether a Nikon 7200, a Canon 7DII, and a Pentax K3, go to the DPReview image comparison page. Download the raw files, and take a look.

Will You Be An "Early Adopter" of the Pentax Full Frame?

No. The value of a system is in the lenses (as Fuji understands). Some will think this heresy, but older film camera lenses are going to leave a lot to be desired on a full frame, high megapixel, DSLR. This is certainly proven with older Nikon lenses on their FX bodies. The only possible exceptions are the occasional tele-photo zooms, or a tele-photo, and these are their lenses from the late 90s, or early 21st century, not lenses from the 70s and 80s.
Pentax is going to produce a full frame with almost nothing to put on it. When they do crank out the lenses from their roadmap, they're all zooms.
And yes, I am aware that there are the 3 Amigos that many wax elequent upon, but while the 31 will give you a moderate wide angle, the 43 and 77 seem too short as either a 'normal' or short tele-photo.
Actually, I think Pentax/Ricoh has made a huge mistake wading into the big pool owned by Canon and Nikon. I really like my K-3, and believe they should have continued developing APS cameras and lenses.
Will I buy the Pentax full frame? No, I'm afraid I'll be using a Nikon.

K-3II & Sigma 10-20mm F3.5

Sorry, I probably wasn't clear. It's that between the K3 and Lightroom, they don't know which lens is which. As long as I remember, or check the focal length (which is shown), I can assign the correct lens file. The annoyance is that Pentax lenses show up correctly, but Sigma do not.

Lightroom will do lens corrections, but my Lightroom, or my K-3, misinterprets the lens as a 70-200mm HSM. Between the two of them they can't get my 18-35mm Art lens data correct, either.

If I recall correctly, Cosina, under the Voigtlander banner, a few years ago did make some M42 lenses, as well as an M42 camera. It was all short lived.

I think you need to do your own test rolls. Besides the meter you need to consider the variables associated with b & w processing: which developer, how much agitation, how much time for developing? Also someone else's meter is likely to be different than yours.
