I won't use acetone! Don't want to damage my lens. Just need to clean it!

---------- Post added 03-08-19 at 11:01 PM ----------

Those are all the basic cleaning methods. I tried :/

---------- Post added 03-08-19 at 11:07 PM ----------

I also thought of exchanging rear element. But then I thought if I can open it. I can try to clean it first. And if it doesn't work, maybe then I can try to exchange them. And thank you for the links, they are really helpful!

I used normal lens cleaning fluid. You know the standard stuff, that's available online. For like 10$. And used cotton tip ear buds to thoroughly but delicately clean the rear element. But it didn't go. So I thought it's on the inside. Ok I'll try it, if the marks are still there. What should I do?

---------- Post added 03-07-19 at 08:12 AM ----------

Is it as effective as acetone?

---------- Post added 03-07-19 at 08:14 AM ----------

Actually I saw a few, pretty worn out ones. Same price as mine. But mine is New old stock. I bought a lot of 4 Vivitar 24mm f2 for 180$.

I tried to clean the back element on the outside. And it's perfectly clean. The marks didn't go. And the reason I said they aren't scratches, is because there doesn't seem to be any abrasions when held over a halogen bulb. I checked again and again over the bulb. But no damage to the glass. I initially thought those are oil cleaning marks. So I posted it here just to be sure. And I need to know how to open this lens. Because I want to clean it.

Since you're talking about flare resistance. Have you used Konica hexanon lenses? They are impressive. Their flare resistance is amazing. Try one. And compare it with the Takumar!

I was referring to DULCOS. Sorry for the caps. But I have heard that they do a really good job, of polishing and Recoating lenses.

Hmmm understood! I wasn't talking from a collectors perspective. I was rather talking from a photographers perspective. Suppose this lens had a SMC coating, how would it perform. That's my main goal.

I agree with you completely. But wouldn't you like to know, how the 8 element 50mm tak would be with a modern smc coating?

---------- Post added 01-14-19 at 01:08 AM ----------

Hmmm true it would be expensive. But not that much. I mean sigma does it. Is it that expensive? If they did, there's a huge market for it.

Is there a possibility to convince Ricoh to start lens re-coating service? It's not that Pentax's modern glass require it, maybe they do once in a while. What if there's a possibility we could re coat old, vintage lenses. It's not like they would do it for free. It would be a paid service.

Pentax has turned 100! Congrats! I know that Pentax as a company doesn't exist. It's just a brand name. Still I felt that I needed to wish! May the Pentax name live on for a 100 more years! Happy new year to everyone!

Disassembling Takumar 24mm f3.5.

I have seen countless videos. So this part, is doable. It's what comes next. Is completely alien to me! But I will try to understand as much as possible, before going to the next part. If the haze is because of oil, I'll be relieved. And if not I'm prepared to learn something new!

---------- Post added 12-20-18 at 04:29 AM ----------

How will i store the lens with balsam? You said not to re assemble. So how will I store it? & how much should I apply? What should be the temperature of the warm water.

Simply get the tamron 70-300mm not WR. But can be had pretty cheap. Or the DA 55-300 plm. The DA 50-200 can be bought for less than 100$. Stopped down every lens performs well. But at the end it's completely your choice.
