I like these headphones a bit better + bluetooth. $99... usually 199.99. If I didn't already have Sony XB950-N1s, these would be mine.

Contemplating an Olympus TG-5

I personally really like the Olympus TG-860/870 series. It doesn't have 4k and I believe slightly lower resolution (20 vs 16), but it does have wi-fi... and the best part about it is that it has a flip-screen (pretty sure the only one that can do this). I find that to be extremely helpful, especially underwater. It's also about $100-150 cheaper...

I personally own the TG-860, and think it is the best, in terms of quality and function

Panasonic G85 Help!!! - Crooked Sensor
Posted By landofcourtness

Hello,

I was using my Panasonic G85 the other day, when I realized that the viewfiender/pictures had a slant at the bottom of it. I thought maybe it might be a problem with the lens, but further inspection revealed that not to be the case. Possibly a problem with the IBIS, but it appears to be working. Then, after looking at the body/sensor without the lens on, and you can visually see that the sensor is visibly off a bit. I don't understand what changed between now and the last time, or why you would want your camera to be able to change it's sensor position...

I was wondering if anyone had an explanation or a way to fix it????
Would be a big help!

Tamron 70-200 2.8 screw replacement?

Hello,

Recently, I went out shooting some sports for the school that I teach at, and at some point I appear to have lost one of the screws that holds on the plastic 'protection sleeve' on the AF/MF clutch (not sure if that description makes sense?), near the top. I was wondering if it were possible to replace said screws or if anyone else had a solution. All of the other screws are fine, just that one, and it doesn't appear to be affecting any of the pictutes... so far.

Thought I'd reach out...

K-1 mark II imminent

I'm so very confused, if the pictures just posted to pentaxrumors is correct... I literally just took out my K-1, just to make sure I wasn't seeing things. This looks identical in every way to the camera I currently have in my hand. Looking over the specs, besides a boost in ISO performance, maybe a slight improvement on Pixel-shift (which I truly didn't ask for)... I fail to spot the key difference. What am I missing?? People keep comparing this to the K-5ii release, but removing the AA-filter was a big deal, and the improvements to ISO were very needed. This literally feels like the same camera. I think ISO can be difficult to spot, especially in a camera that already had amazing ISO control and dynamic range... Is this really what has delayed development of a APS-C or Medium format successor??... 'say it ain't so Pentax, say it ain't so'...

Yeah, I agree with King... from a Pentax-user perspective, I don't think another FF makes much sense. I think it's an amazing camera! They gave pretty much everything I had hoped for... It's essentially a d810, with more features and fraction of the price. The only real fault I see in the camera is the 4fps. Maybe it's conditioning... but video, I've pretty much stop caring about (in my Pentax cameras anyways). I too wonder how many people would consider upgrading... Higher MPixels, slightly better Autofocus, bump in fps, possibly expanded video features. I wonder how many people with K-1s would see that as a plus. More MPs, while appreciated, I actually think 36 is the sweet spot. Above 40, and the files just become huge... can only imagine what pixel-shift size would be.

Like many people, what I would really love is a new APS-C body to complement my K-1. I would love the added reach to the 1.5x crop, faster frames. Be nice to have the option as a 2nd back-up body (currently using a 16MP Panasonic G85 w/adapter, which also doubles as main video camera after moving on from my old K-5... given to a student's family I mentor)... that would be something I really care about. K-3 III or what-not. I truthfully though, will probably just use it as an excuse to get a K-3 ii (not sure what else I need from this video), unless the feature set just jumps off the page.

Any idea about the potential pricing? I know that it's a FA star lens, but the Nikon($446 for G)/Canon ($349... I know that they have L-series, but that's f1.2) equivalent 1.4s are a lot cheaper than the trinity is.

Recently the security lock 'tab'... little plastic piece that switches it from locked to open fell off. Since that, it can no longer be written to. I tried tape, even inserting one from a different card, simply fell out.

Was wondering if anyone knew of a possible fix??

Hello,

My monthly subscription to Adobe LR/Photoshop CC just ended, and I am hoping to get away from the subscription model. Was wondering if anyone had any history with any other program, that isn't a subscription??? Is CaptureOne the only option? I mostly edit on PC, and would like it to be something that can at least be used on that.

Thought I would reach out to the community...

I have this bag as well... or used to, before I gave it (along with my K-5 APS-C kit) to one of my friends. You can fit 2 DSLRs with lenses, or DSLR w/4 lenses, DSLR w/2 lens + Flash + Sony a6000. The only thing I'll say, is that the bag is somewhat small. And though it has backpack straps, it takes some getting used to how far it rests on your back (as apposed to how backpacks usually rest on your lower back). Even though it appears small, it deceptively holds more than you would think.

K5 vs. K-50?

Though I've never had a K-50, I do own the K-5. However, I don't think there really is that big of a difference in specs/features to justify the purchase (6fps vs 7fps, possibly higher ISO and lighter for k-50). Aside from longevity, they seem very similar. Doesn't feel like much of a jump. I would simply ride that aperature-lock til it fell off... by then you'll be able to possibly replace it with something newer at the same price or the K-5 for a much lower price, as apposed to having two similar bodies. If you double the amount ($400), you can sometimes find good deals on here and other places for a K-3, and that would be a pretty big jump! Comparing K-5 to K-3, it feels like you would literally be getting 2x the camera.

The K-5 is pretty amazing though! I don't use it as much, after upgrading to the K-1... but when I do, it still feels like the most pure photo-making machines. Not that the other features (in K-1/others) are gimmicks, but the K-5 is just camera settings + take the photo.

What is a good camera bag for K-1 and three lenses?

Probably too late to be useful... but I use 2x bags, depending on what I need:

1. LowePro 202 Slingshot - $60
https://www.amazon.com/Lowepro-Slingshot-DSLR-Sling-Camera/dp/B0036AWR8E/ref...pro+camera+bag
Love this bag! It is ergonomic how it fits on your back, and I love how you can just wrap the bag around for easy access. It can hold 1x body comfortably w/grip, with 5x slots for other things. The slots are pretty big, and deep. Big enough to put multiple things in one slot, or even a Sony a6000. There's a roomy pocket on top with accessories pocket on front. If I need to casually carry my K-1, with some accessories, or a videography kit... it's perfect!

2. Amazon Basics Bag - $35
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-DSLR-Laptop-Backpack-interior/dp/B00CF5O...zon+camera+bag
If there's one thing I don't like about the Lowepro bag, is that there isn't a space to hold a laptop (nice for Tethering setup). This cheap, yet effective bag can hold 2x bodies, a plethora of lenses, and a slot for a 15in Laptop. The accessories slot leaves a lot to be desired though! This bag feels a bit flawed, IMO. It does the job on professional gigs, carrying everything. I will say that I don't think it does a great job of distributing the weight. Not a bad bag (possibly the greatest value for a bag), but there is something unsatisfying about it when I use it... not sure what that is.

I wish I could find a bag like the LowePro bag above... but one that has a slot for a laptop, less than $100??

trying to find a good but not too expensive hand strap for my k-1

I think this is the best wrist strap:
https://www.amazon.com/Polaroid-Neoprene-Adjustable-Camcorders-Binoculars/dp...AD0ZC7PC4CMRDA

I do think that a wrist strap is a little heavy to just be walking around with. It is better than a neck strap IMO, but that's just personal preference. I think if you're going to go personal preference, shoulder strap is the way to go.

If carrying and convenience is the goal... I high suggest a belt mount (is that the name). They are so convenient!! You clip it onto your belt, and boom... makes it so that you can just walk around. Sometimes I re-tighten the mount just to be sure, but it's very convenient for walking around (especially when it comes to the heft of Pentax cameras... they feel bigger to me anyways), and secure:

Pentax to M4/3rd adapter?? - Help

Thank you all for the feedback... After looking at the adapter, it does appear that they sent the wrong one. It says DA - FX (Fuji), instead of M43rds label. So I will be sending back. My new adapter should be coming tomorrow (from different company)... not sure how much I will trust Fotasy (though part of me wonders if they truly are different), which is a shame since the adapter appears to be very solidly built... and I do/did love the aperature control.

Pentax to M4/3rd adapter?? - Help

Hello,

I recently purchased a Panasonic G85 at a really great price (body only - $575.00, mostly for video/4k)... but it didn't come with any lenses. I figured that I could simply adapt my Pentax lenses to the camera and shoot manual anyways.

I originally purchased this lens adapter:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FAA5NJI/ref=psdc_3347851_t3_B0048AG03Y?tag=pentaxforums-20&

It arrived today, and I was excited to begin shooting. The adapter above attaches really well to the lens, and even better allows for a smooth control of the Aperature, even if it is only electronic on the lens. Amazing! However, sadly the adapter does not attach to the camera. In one of the reviews, it said that it successfully attaches between a K-50 and Olypmus Em5ii. Panasonic and Olympus should have the same mount m43rds... so I am confused why it doesn't work, if Panasonic G85 is also M4/3rd... if I am doing something incorrect? (such a thing as bad copy?)

Or if you have a different suggestion?? I would prefer the aperature control wheel like this one, but not married to it.

Thanks,

15ft USB Cable - Tethering problem??

Hello,

I have been trying to tether with my K-1, with a 15ft USB cable I purchased on amazon... however the cable intermittently drops the signal between camera-laptop. This causes the camera to freeze, and the feed to disconnect. It works amazingly when it all works, but the moment the disconnect occurs, I have to unplug everything and turn the camera on/off.

Was wondering if anyone knew/had a solution for it?? or a more reliable cable recommendation?
