Full K-1 Spec list

Hopefully the price will reflect these specs. $1000 camera? To me it's a K3ii with a bigger FF sensor and a few incremental improvements, however it's also gone backwards from the K3ii in slower FPS and a buffer that is probably the same so ends up being less useable pics with larger sensor. kenspo has already commented on diss appointing AF plus USB2 not 3? For such a large sensor a fast USB is essential. BUT Let's see what the final spec sheet and price says before getting too excited....

A question... What is a pro?
Pro fashion photog, pro bird photog? I imagine different needs... I have doubts that a model plummets out the sky at 200 miles an hour after a pigeon?

I reckon this new FF body is going to have interchangeable view finders?
Maybe one will be optical and another EVF?
The changeable view finders were a special feature of the LX... Maybe they are hinting at this by talking about the LX?

Maybe they could have GPS in some and flash control in others and various combinations of options??

Maybe you get two or three viewfinders with the body?

Just a thought... :))

I know that's probably true but still cannot get myself to part with hard earned money on something where the association is that bad. Not yet anyway.

I for one will be waiting to see if those dreaded letters SDM will mean failure after failure. Is it really a Tamron motor system or did Ricoh find it in their parts bin and go oh look everyone we've got a motor system already so let's use it with someone else's lens design?
My trust of those letters rates this lens a big fat zero right from the start. Until proved trust worthy I will not be going anywhere near this lens. Good luck to all the first takers!

New rumors (maybe): factory service center in US, 42 MP sensor for FF

How about two bodies, first one with the 42MP for the landscape/studio crowd and the other with the 12MP high ISO high FPS etc for the sports/bird/moving insect crowd? They're making sure that 70-200 can refocus at 15FPS.... Dreams are good... :)

I'm still using my K10D so another year or two makes no difference to me just so long as it's full frame... :)
I was tempted by the K5ii/s and then the K3 but decided to wait for the FF.

I'm hoping the FF will match or better a 1DX in terms of AF and FPS...

I would like to see two full frame bodies. One using a 36MP with high ISO and high FPS (12-15) and a huge buffer, the other a 50MP studio body, both should make use of the latest 250mb/s SD card tech for ultra fast writing....

I think the lenses should give us a clue as to what to expect from the FF body... Considering they are releasing a high quality F2.8 70-200 I reckon it's going to be more sports and speed oriented. The K3 is pretty quick for APSC AT 8.3 FPS and is only let down by it's AF speed and the AF speed of the lens motors....
With the new 150-450 and 70-200 getting newer designs and faster apertures I reckon the new FF is going to at least match if not best the K3 in terms of AF and FPS.
Also note the recent releases of new SD UHS-II cards. It would make sense that the new FF body will be able to make use of those high read and write speeds!
Imagine a 10/12FPS FF WITH 36MP a huge buffer and write speeds around 250MB/s.... Plus super quick lenses and AF (not just fast aperture but fast motors and mechanism and fast AF algorithms)

That's a FF I WOULD BUY!!! :)))

For really long stuff try digiscoping.
The PF-CA35 plus the 80mm scope work nicely.... Needs a tripod though. I've used mine mainly for waders...

It's probably because of the release of the Canon 7D Mark II as that camera puts Canon back on top in terms of APS-C bodies with amazing AF, high ISO and 10FPS!

How do I activate mirror up on the K10D?

---------- Post added 10-08-2014 at 05:32 AM ----------

Ah don't worry, the 2 second timer locks it up... :)

Do you know if the 12 second timer does the same?

I've started preparing my camera... RAW DNG, full manual control, ISO200 for now, manual AF, SR off for tripod. Going to try with aperture F7.1 to start. And 12 seconds timer. I don't think the K10D has mirror lock up?

Thanks guys!

The sweet spot for my lens appears to be around F7.1/F8 so will try those. Then will experiment with shutter speed and ISO to see what works best. I don't have live view on the K10D as it is an older sensor but I do have the Pentax Remote Assistant that i might play with... Would love access one of the 80mm Pentax spotting scopes as I still have my PF-CA35 scope adapter but no time left to organise that now!

Hi All,

I need some help on what settings to use to photograph the lunar eclipse tonight...

I will be using my Pentax K10D and 75-300mm most likely at 300mm on a tripod. I'm will set on manual focus and use RAW DNG. Now the question is considering the camera body which setting would be optimal for the least amount of noise?

I'm thinking maybe ISO400 to keep noise levels down but not sure? (the K10D gets pretty noisy above ISO400)

What would be the best shutter and aperture? (wide open at 300mm on that lens is around F5.8, is it best to go wide open or stop down a bit? shutter speed?)

Would you guys use completely different settings?

Looks like it's going to be a full moon tonight and hoping the weather plays nice here in Brisbane!!

Thanks for the help!
Gordon

For those wanting a really nice affordable FF have a look at the new Nikon D750, for those wanting an awesome APSC have a look at the specs of the new Canon 7D mark Ii... Looks like the super high speed train has left the station and Ricoh is still at the ticket office trying to buy tickets for the 70s disco.... K-S1 anyone....

I found the email from the South African Pentax importer... I had asked him if he had more information on the 100-400 and the price for the 560mm, this was his response:

Interesting that HE said it's expected to be a 150-450.... his inside info as a distributor?
