Hi: I have a 40 limited that I have used about 3 times. It is in perfect condition with all original box, leather pouch, and paperwork. I bought a 35 macro shortly after getting the 40 and found I use that much more. I was just going to post the 40 for sale. I am a retired Mom, use my equipment carefully, and only occasionally. Would you be interested? I am in Portland, Or. Would accept the $275 if you would pay shipping and any Paypal fees.

Pentax zoom similar to canon 70-200 f4

Yes, speed is not the primary thing I am after. The canon70-200/4 was just s great overall lens that provided decent reach when needed, but if cropped, the image quality was still very good. I have my sights on the 60-250 or the sigma 100-300 at his point.

The pentax 80-200 is for sale on bay for about $1400 and beyond- supply and demand, I guess. Is that unreasonable price?

Would the non-OS, HSM version of the Sigma lens work as well, since there is stabilization in the K5 body? It is considerably cheaper.

I have searched and read many of the posts here regarding telephoto lenses for the Pentax K5. Many folks have given pros and cons of the 60-250/4, sigmas, DA200 and 300.
Not having any camera shops that sell Pentax gear around, I thought I would pose the question this way: if you have ever
used the Canon 70-200/4, which lens for Pentax would be closest in image quality and/or overall versatility.

Thanks in advance!

K5 "frozen" problem.

Sorry to say I am joining the group...have used my K5 for about 2 months now and never a problem. Out with the 35 macro today and the first shot attempted, the camera froze while trying to focus on a leaf bud. Battery full, AF-S; Removed battery and the focus motor whined loudly, but did nothing. No shutter release. Had another lens, so switched and it was fine. When I got home, I re-inserted the 35 macro and it worked fine.

How about using the 77? That would take care of speed and for high school track meets, I can get right down next to the track. Thanks for all the suggestions so far!

I am new to pentax and want to shoot upcoming track meets. I would have used a canon 70-200 when still shooting Canon. I am hoping my 18-135 will fit the bill, or is this a good excuse to look at either the 100 wr or 55-300?

What made you choose a Pentax?

I have been searching camera systems for almost 10 years. Not a professional at all; just love making pictures. Started with Canon, but didn't like lugging all that equipment around. Traveled through Italy and Croatia with a pack containing 4 lenses and a 5D and just got tired of always having to schlepp it around.
Went to micro 4/3 and still have that system with pancake lens and a macro. The image quality is somewhat lacking, so splurged on a Leica M9. I loved the image quality and portability, but was having trouble with my eyes and focusing. Plus, I would often leave it at home and take the Olympus due to the sheer cost of the equipment. Ended up with a K5 after much research and couldn't be happier.
The size of the camera is perfect, love that it is weather sealed; the image quality is on par with 5D (well, maybe not quite as good); and the size and quality of lenses is fantastic. This is the system I will stay with.

Cactus V5 radio flash trigger review

I got online Sunday night and the Cactus 5 triggers were in stock. Paid for 2 day shipping and they arrived Tuesday morning. Very impressive! These work very well. Also had ordered the Yongnuo 560 flash for my K5 and the two work very well together. I know strobist gave the yongnuo a " not recommended" vote, but mine seems to work well and even I figured out to use it quickly. The cactus triggers allow me to use the flash off-camera at a variety of positions. Want to be able to work macro photography with creative lighting, so overall, I am very pleased.

Hello from rainy Oregon. I am awaiting the arrival of a K5 with the 40 and 77 lenses. Started with Canon gear until a trip to Europe, hauling all that STUFF, made me realize that smaller can be better! Bought an EP2 and love the portability. Really missed the prime image quality, so had a wild hair and bought a M9. Alas, while image quality and ease of use were outstanding, I frequently had trouble with seeing well enough to focus accurately and, the biggest deal was hauling around a $7000 camera - worrying about scatches, etc. So, I sold it and have been shopping for my next camera. I am really excited to get the K5 and see how it works. No stores around here carry it, so Amazon it is! I am very impressed with this forum: the attitudes and layout seem excellent.
Thanks for listening!
