Got vaccinated today. Anyone??

Thanks for sharing your experience! I was wondering if anyone had escaped without even a sore arm. I barely felt my booster and my arm wasn't very sore. My wife on the other hand said hers stung and hurt going in and her arm was really sore for a few days. I think a lot of that has to do with the skill of the technician. I also remember a particularly painful shot as a child where the nurse said it was because they hadn't let it warm up enough, so that could be a factor too.

"Shockingly, nearly a quarter of the people -- some who received the placebo shot -- experienced side effects like a sore arm, also attributable to the placebo effect."

That seems like a strange statement to me. If someone jabs a needle in your arm and injects something, placebo or vaccine, I would expect to have a sore arm. I would be shocked if I didn't.I would consider a sore arm to be a (real) side effect of the shot not what was in it.

Over the last couple of years I've gotten a flu shot, a TDAP shot and three covid shots (Moderna). At least a mildly sore arm every time which I would not attribute to the placebo effect.

As far as the covid shots went (and putting aside a sore which I don't really consider a side effect). I had no reaction to the first shot. After the second shot I had a slightly elevated temperature and mild flu(like) symptoms that were gone after 24 hours. Same with the booster shot but not as bad as the second shot. My wife's experience was similar but with slightly worse flu(like) symptoms.

I do too. I remember that shots (seemed to) hurt more back then, maybe some crying but no fainting or throwing up. Mostly I remember the polio epidemic, no cure, no vaccine, no real hope if you got the disease. That all changed once the vaccines came out. How anyone that lived through those times can be an antivaxer is beyond me.

On topic, I finally got my Moderna booster today. I should have gotten it a month ago but I'm, by nature, a procrastinator but it's done now.

I agree, going lower could improve the image. Thanks for commenting!

Thanks! "Rivulets" is the word I was looking for. How you describe the scene is how I see it too.

This image isn't working for me and I usually really like snow scenes.

A trail in the snow that disappears into the distance makes a great theme for an image but this one has way too many distractions. Lots of small bushes (weeds?) poking up through the snow. The three branches that protrude into the image on the center left are particularly bad and just to the right of those is what looks like a spots of sensor dust.

Thanks! From memory there weren't any trees close behind, just more beach.

I like the suggestion of getting lower, I should have tried that. As you say, and as I said originally there is nothing that stands out to catch the eye which I think it the biggest weakness. I didn't do any targeted color adjustments, they are what the camera saw and I think pretty accurate for the scene.

Thanks for the suggestion!

The sailboat is the main character and the trees are supporting characters that balance the composition. My eye goes from the foreground/shore to the trees and then the boat. There is space in the image in front of the boat. Where is it going? What adventures await?

Anyway, not everyone sees things the same way. I appreciated the critique.

Not really adding anything new to the thread but if you want to take the best photo possible, one that looks like what you saw as opposed to the camera saw then you need to do some post processing.

Wow, great shot. I've been over the bar a few times salmon fishing. Never saw a big ship like that though.

That other image was from a different series of shots. Looking back at this one the eagle actually got the fish, or at least still had it at the end of the burst. If I get a chance I'll post that one.

Thanks!

Thanks! I tried your suggestions and I think I like it better. If I get a chance I'll post it.

I'm pretty sure I had a CPL on the lens but I may not have used it to full effect. I was out with the wife, kids and grandkids so I didn't have much time to focus (pun intended) of photography (other than snapshots) so this was a one and done.

Thanks for the suggestions!

This is actually from a different series of shots from the other one which was heavily cropped and the image is only slightly cropped.

Thanks!

Very likely he looped around and got it on the second try. Thanks for commenting!

Thanks! The timing was mostly due to the rapid fire shutter.

I visited Kamloops years ago and skied at Tod Mountain but have never been farther north.
