Thank´s for sharing the manual and in nice crisp scans too (the butkus version on the net is terrible).
I´ve made a binder of it:

Perhaps, setting the camera at 1/4 or even 1/2 sec will produce better sync and brighter photos?

Hi Yuri, that was a very personal reaction to my critique and I think that there is a misunderstanding here? I didn´t mean that I feel sorry for the model as a person, but rather, the persona that she acts. Is that right? Anyway, I guess your straight answer to my original question is: Yes. And my reaction to that is: OK, well done. Regards Jakob

Yeap, very nice, except for the sorry dry lips—it would be great! She is such a beautyfull model and all those chips in the middle does nothing or, well, a bit of a sorry feeling for her, is what I feel—is that the point?

I don´t agree. What: You don´t think I´ve been over that?

Note: What Im achieveing with this level of light and contrast is the impression of a room lit by an imagined full moon, a natural association to the round hole in the ceilling half covered by leaves.

Thank´s Ted, I used a Cokin Sepia filter to separate the earth or reddish colors and then boosted the blues in the WB to balance the colors (countering the filter a bit) at fact (the passage way was very green tinted) and then made small color balance corrections (2-5%) in Photoshop to get there. Im a little bit sorry that I didn´t control the high light in the far right side, I could have—probably—pulled up the shadows in PP, however, the contrast is good as is now in most of the photo. Yes, actually, I see three such separate parts; fore-, middle- and background, that are quite clear in this photo. Thank you for your comment. Regards Jakob

Using AF-500 FTZ with Cactus 6V: Custom Flash Profile

My main camera system is the Pentax 67II and with this the AF-500 FTZs are the thing (when using TTL)—so, what ever smallfilm/digital else (currently the K-5 II s) has to yield—but it would be nice to be able to do some radio control of the output, because it is practical when the flashes are set high or covered. But, I might get another flash to do that radio thing and then hook the others up with that.

Using AF-500 FTZ with Cactus 6V: Custom Flash Profile

Hi all,

Im trying to program a set of Cactus V6s to enable control of the flash amount off-camera—however, to my surprise, it´s not working, I get to the first or second step and get error messages? I have two Cactus V6 with the V.1.1.019 Firmware update and three AF-500 FTZs with fresh (rechargeable) batteries and have tried them all in different combinations, setting them to the instructed TTL mode and manually setting the FULL ZOOM: M.Zoom 85mm, shooting towards a white board at 1M distance (also tried shorter dist. as described here: Cactus V6 Review - Remote Power Control | PentaxForums.com Reviews). Sometimes, I get as far as the 1/2 learning or ZOOM 85mm GN 50 input step, mostly it stops after the first control flash. I found, that to get the Pentax TTL Hot-shoe contact match correct, I have to mount the flash in the shoe one click-stop before the last, all in is too far, and then lock it.

Does the Cactus V6: Custom Flash Profile not work with the AF-500 FTZ flashes?

Anyone?

Regards Jakob

For double effect in UV treatment, put a sheet of aluminium foil at the back end of the lens, so the sun rays reflect back through it.

What is the sharpest manual lens for pentax 67 / 645 ?

To really distance yourself from digital in terms of resolution go with the 67II true MF (make sure you get the 67II and not the 6X7—a huge upgrade). The 645s does offer more shots per roll and film backs, though.
In the normal to short tele range, the SMC 67 75/4.5 is really sharp (haven´t tried the 75AL), as is the (all versions) 105/2.4. The SMC 67 135/4 Macro is less sharp (outside macro), but great for portraits. Some people praise the zooms (as sharp as the prime, some say?), like the 90-180/5.6 in your prefered lenghts range (good for weddings?), if a bit slow (but we have Portra 800 (push to 1600 with no image degradation) for that). I like the 200/4 for portraits as well. The old Takumars are to be dusted off and used for B&W where they shine with wonderful, dreamy highlights.

Bowens Illumitran 3S 35 mm Slide Duplicator with Schneider Lens at 50USD

Looks like an interesting machine :) The Schneider lens alone or even the Bowens test slide is easily worth the fifty bucks!

»The Illumitran 3S is a compact, easy-to-use instrument primarily for duplicating color transparencies, but it will do far more than this. Apart from making same size duplicates, it can reduce, enlarge a section, make color internegatives or black and white negatives, make color or black and white slides from negatives, and copy sandwiched or montaged transparencies*

Among its other uses is the adding of titles to slides.

Technically, the Illumitran can be mastered in half an hour. All you do is place the original slide or negative over an opal glass lit from below by a filament lamp (for focusing) and a power related electronic flash (for exposure). The flash power is mechanically controlled so that all exposures can be made at a common aperture.

*Often difficult or impossible with modern slide scanners.

Specifically, the lot includes the following:

Bowens Illumitran 3S Base Unit with working flash bulbs, made in England
Bowens Illumitran MK 3S Contrast Control Unit (installed)
Schneider lens, made in Germany
Bowens 35 mm test slide
Illumitran 3S Operating Instructions
Contrast Control Unit Operating Instructions

You could choose to use the equipment for its intended purpose, or alternatively add it to a collection. If your intention is to use the base unit for its intended purpose, you could choose to install your own digital camera.

The equipment has an unpackaged weight of approximately 15 lbs.«

67II: What tele lens would turn my AE 67 Finder Meter into a 1° spot meter?

My conclusion to this question is, that with the AE 67 Finder Meter in spot metering mode, using the averaging method, I will not need a hand held 1° spot meter, when using a super-tele 400mm. or longer.
