Used a K1 with a SMC M200 f4 & the Pentax rear converter-A 2X-S. Iso800, 30sec exposure & F10. This was just before dawn and the first snow of the season at Mt. San Jacinto.

I have the A135 2.8 & Takumar bayonet 135 2.5 lenses. I just got my K1 last month and have tried the A135, but had not tried the Takumar 135 yet. I just did a few test shots and it's a nice lens too. It has a lot of fringing and CA in bright light. Here are 2 photos I tried side by side. Both F4, iso400. 1/100. They are pretty close, but the coatings on the A lens help a bit with the color. I use this lens a lot for hummingbird photos with nice results.

With the A135:

Just got my K1 last month. I have the standard assortment of old glass that most have. M28 2.8, M100 2.8, A135 2.8. m200 f4, etc. My only autofocus full frame lenses are the DA 35, fa50 f2 & Sigma DL70-300. My only weathersealed lens is the APSC 18-135, which is fine for just walking around.
What a great camera! such a joy to use and a great upgrade from my K-30. Here are a few pix with my Auto Sears (Tokina) 300mm 5.6 lens. The distance was about 18ft for both pics. I used lightroom, and this lens will always have that funky green mud bokeh in the shadows, but the center in nice and clean. Not bad for a $25, mint condition 300mm prime.

Just picked up a Pentax Super Program for $20 and shot, then developed my first roll of film. Never done any film photography, except for a long time ago. I used Kodak 400TX and developed using Ilfotec DDX, Photo formulary TF-4 fixer, and photo-flo. I developed for 8min & fixed for 5min. I scanned the negs using a Wolverine F2D filmscanner.

The camera worked great as far as the metering. I shot half the roll with a FA 50 1.4 and the other half with an A135 2.8. I wasn't really happy with the shots from the 50mm, but the 135mm I liked. I have the basic rage and assortment of manual lenses. M 28mm, A50 2.0, M 100mm, M200, and a sears(TOKINA) 300mm. So I need to burn thru a few more rolls of fillm, and remember to take notes, so I know what settings to use.

I see a lot of people use the 400TX film and push the ISO to 1600. If I do this, do I still process for the same time? 8 minutes? or is 8 min even the right developing time at 400speed?

Here are a few samples. The shot of the schnauzer is with the FA 50 1.4 and the others are with the A135 2.8. I did minimal noise reduction & sharpening in Lightroom.

Your photo is fine, you just need to find a more interesting star system or have some foreground trees, mountains etc. Stellarium is good as is Google Sky. It will even show where Meteor activity is. Orion, Sirius,Taurus are easy to find (At least here in So California)
As mentioned, long exp. will cause star trails, if that's what you want. (Bulb Mode)
Shorter exp and multiple images stacked will get the crisp stars and colors you are looking for. Startrails is a free program that works well.

The camera moved. You need to make sure the tripod is solid and that the camera is attached solid. Also boost the ISO.

Infinity is different on all lenses. sometimes it at the very end of the focus travel, sometimes a bit backed off. Some lens have an infinity mark and it might be a bit off also. And with a lens like the 18-135wr that have no stop, infinity can be hard to find in the dark. I used the FA50mm 1.4 and infinity is all the way to the end, on my copy. With a 300mm lens infinity for the Moon would be out of focus.

A tripod and the focus for the moon or stars with my FA50 1.4 is infinity, so it's always in focus once you set it.

I set the camera to 2 min between shots and the counter set for 999 shots. That gives me more then enough shots of the eclipse phases, plus it's easy to stop the interval shooting, adjust the ISO a bit as the moon darkens, and get the interval mode back on. This composite is about every 4th frame stacked in Startrails. The Moon moves it's own distance about every 5 min, so you could set the interval to 4-5 min and get about the same results as the photo.

Looks good. I would say bump the ISO higher, like 3200 up to 6400. All the other setting look right on.

I don't have an Astrotracer, but every time I've tried the DA35 2.4 for stars, my results have looked like yours. I hate this lens for stars. The always look soft to me, not sharp. Same with the 18-135. I use an SMC M28mm 2.8, Fa50 1.4 and Rokinin 16mm with great results.

I have the Rokinon 16mm and I love it. You can use filters (77mm I think) I use it for astro photography and landscapes. Nice and sharp, very low CA

I don't have the 14mm 2.8 but I do have the Rokinon 16mm 2.0 and it's great for the Milky Way. I think all of the wide angle Rokinon/Samyang lenses work great for the Milky Way.

I used to take a bunch of lenses when I go to Disneyland, but spent more time changing lenses, because what I had on the camera was never right for the situation. Now I just take one lens and make it work. Sometimes it's the 18-135, sometimes it's the SMC M-28 F2.8.
But I live close to Disneyland and have the chance to go quite often, so If I could only go once in a while, I would take the 18-135 and a fast wide angle prime for the dark rides.

Yes, it will be small. It's an aiming device, that's it. It helps you point your camera at what you want to see in the LCD screen.

Yes, this is what you would use the red dot scope for, and that is how you do it. Except the red dot is not on your picture or in the live view, it's in the sight. So, aim at bird, use focus peaking, take picture. It works good on the Q and long lens.
