New K-New? Who Knew?

Just had a daft idea, if you had a mirrorless K mount camera (such as the K-01 for example) - is there enough space to design a tray to fit filters where the mirror isn't? This could be independent of the lens, unlike

Pentax LX focusing woes

I've dealt with Zhe a few times and he bought a non-infinity focussing body from me a while ago. If the mirror is sitting on the light-meter hump then it won't focus to infinity as it should be a couple of mm higher. This is an issue with the mirror stops. I presume if the focussing screen is slightly out then the position of the mirror could still be out but you wouldn't necessarily be able to see that it wasn't correct.

Dust/fungus in FC-1 Finder

I've had the base off but can't figure out whether it's a good idea to open the top section. There is definitely some dust and there is a pale haze on one of the glass elements,

The FC-1 is an add-on finder, nothing to do with the focussing screen really.

I have an FB-1 System Base which I've cleaned fairly thoroughly but I can't figure out how to get into the glass of the FC-1 apart from the bottom section. There is a little dust which doesn't bother me but it seems very slightly cloudy on one side with possible fibres, so I want check that out and remove fungus if that is what it is.

Any idea how to get into the eyepiece section of the FC-1

I managed to recover the film, I'll see if it develops ok. The mirror had not locked up and the shutter was closed. I didn't have a low battery warning either. I'll clean all the contacts that i can see before loading another (24 shot) film

All good on first two films.

---------- Post added 09-29-19 at 01:28 PM ----------

Used a sleeping bag to unload the film (curse those 36 shot films). Restarted camera and all working again, do I dare put another film in (24 shot)?

Third film through my Z-1P and I can't get it to rewind. LCD has "37" flashing at me and nothing in the viewfinder. New battery arrived today, doesn't help.

Next thought is to open camera back in a dark bag and then close it again to try and make it do - something!!!

Any other ideas?

I like the K-01 but the screen is difficult in sunlight so I gave up on mine and sold it on. The Yellow models hold value well so it's a sort of investment

I wondered if that flange distance is allowed for in the mount, to avoid having to change the lens body length.

I'm aware of the official Sigma conversion service. I'm referring to DIY conversion of older lenses.

Looking at the available lenses that I want (HSM Pentax Mount) there seems to be a lot of Sigma SA mount versions at a lower price. Probably more SA mount lenses with less wear and tear too.

Sorry if this has been answered numerous times before.

I've seen YouTube videos about changing Sigma SA mount to Canon EF mount on a Sigma 150-500mm HSM Lens. I'm wondering if I could swap the mount on a Sigma SA lens to a Pentax K mount for either a 50-500mm or 150-500mm lens.

I have the original Bigma and love it dearly and I have recently bought a sightly tired 150-500mm HSM lens, just wondering if I could buy a cheap but better condition SA mount of the HSM lens and swap mounts without needing to solder anything. There seems to be a lot of SA mount lenses available for about 100 less than the Canon/Nikon/Pentax price. I also shoot m4/3 so an Olympus 4/3 mount is also an option.

Two other ideas spring to mind. Do I need to have the same model of lens? or could I use a teleconverter as the doner lens mount and convert between KAF and a Nikon/Canon Lens.

Finally, I need to get the recently purchased 150-500mm serviced/cleaned. Can I buy a "new" KAF mount from Sigma for a DIY approach?
