Focusing in the dark

Thanks for all the ideas here. The issue I had with the kit lens was that there was no actual stop on the manual focusing ring, so I could keep it turning and not tell where I'd got to. I'll try the idea to zoom in in live view (will have to find the zoom function).

The older lenses I have are a 28mm f2.8 M lens, a 50mm f1.7 A and a 135mm f2.8 A lens. I've used them quite a lot for other photography and they do have such a lovely feel to them. The 28mm is especially useful. Na Horuk mentioned replacing the kit lens; I think I will do that at some stage. Currently enjoying the decision of choosing between the Pentax options and those of Tamron and Sigma.

Focusing in the dark

Just bought myself a KS-2 with the kit lens after many years away from Pentax. I've had a couple of bridge cameras over the years, but then it occurred to me that I still had my old A and M lenses that went with my ME Super from many years ago, and that I could use them on a new Pentax DSLR.

So of course, I want to play a bit with this wonderful new camera, and one thing I'd like to try is star photos. Trouble is, I can't work out how to get the 18-50 kit lens to focus on infinity at night. I'm hoping there is something I've missed; can anyone help me out?
