Very impressive capture! That is the one goal that I never accomplished before moving out of Northern CA to Texas, getting an early morning or late afternoon shot of a crop duster over fields in the Central Valley. I grew up surrounded by wheat fields in central Montana, and had crop dusters buzz right over our house many times, but photography was a far off distant hobby at that time...

55-300 PLM vs 60-250 DA* for plane spotting

I have both the PLM and the DA*60-250, and although I don't feel that I am losing that much quality at the long end of the PLM, there is no doubt that the DA*60-250 is better, assuming you can get it in good focus. For birds in flight, I have all but given up on the DA*60-250, but larger targets like planes, cars, etc., I think it works fine. I have taken very few photos of planes, but here are a few samples of a helicopter and sea plane. I was shooting birds at the time the helicopter flew over and I had way too fast of a shutter speed thus the static blades, but you can see the resolution and details. The sea plane images were taken with the DA*60-250 combined with the HD 1.4x teleconverter, which is a very good combo.

Macro Colourful Bug - ? Harlequin Bug?

This is a first class macro, well done! I haven't had much luck with a tripod trying to photograph insects. I can never get it set up close enough for the shot. A monopod might be the answer, it at least carries the weight which would help steady the camera for the shot. But I usually just end up taking plenty of shots with the hope that I got one in good focus.

This is very nice with nice, subtle sunlight accenting certain parts of the flowers. It would have been nice to get some sunlight onto the stamens, but if you are like me, I have not yet figured out how to command the sun to do what I want.

Thanks Mike!

Thanks so much LightSpeed. I hate to admit, but I set up a kill zone for the hawks with my bird feeder in the oak trees. I saw a lot of doves get taken out over the years.

Thanks Jer!

Thank you!

Thanks Angky! It was one of the shots that I didn't screw up in my early bird photography years.

Thanks Peter! I was fortunate to have these hawks come jetting through my backyard a couple of times a day looking to catch one of the birds at my feeder. It was not so good for the little birds, however...

Thank you pichaser!

of a Pipevine Swallowtail Caterpillar. I don't think I have ever seen such a bold colored caterpillar. It must be toxic to birds, otherwise they wouldn't last a day with their bright colors.
