Then you were doing something wrong.
A 16 bit TIFF can hold A LOT more info than an eight bit jpeg.

Details in the scene doesnít necessarily have to move to trigger the motion correction algorithms. If the light changes even the slightest during the exposure you will also get ďmotionĒ detected due to variances in the images. Luckily (as already mentioned ) you can tweak the settings quite a lot in RT.

Know though that according to dxomark the 645D sensor measurements are all beaten by the 6 year newer K1. Especially dynamic range with 14.6 vs 12.55 Evs,

IIRC you can abort the IR by pressing a button, so are you sure you are not sort of wiggling the AF button sometimes which abort the IR, and sometimes you donít which give you the bug behavior?
(I donít have my K1 with me so canít test it myself at the moment.)

The bug aside, why doesn’t you use the dedicated AE-L button?
Doesn’t it work to AF, AE-L, shoot. -Reframe, AF, shoot. -Reframe, AF, shoot.
No need for holding buttons down.

Yes, I believe that was the case already on the K5, if memory serves. I never really used that function though, but perhaps I should, hmÖ At least in contrasty situations.

The reason for iso200 when shooting in high light protection mode is that you are really shooting in iso100 and underexposing one step. Then the exposure is pushed with a compression curve. Or that is how I always thought it was done anyway.

But you could still pixel peep and see if the image was sharp or not. So no big difference there imho.

If you want the water line horizontal you should rotate the image 1.93 (roughly) degrees counter clockwise.

And it’s easy to tell what is right and wrong here since the water acts as a horizontal mirror. The trees above the water line should line up with the trees in the mirror.

Acceleration Chip (K1mkII, KP and K70) - What's the Difference

We can only speculate, but as I understand it (which might be way wrong) it kicks in on images above iso640, which means it indeed can pass the image through without "working" on it.
The fact that it now can't be turned off is probably a design decision they made to hide the "true" performance and nothing else.

Yes, but you also have Sony with the star-eater function.
It's an easy way to improve performance, or at least it looks like the performance have increased.
Why not make it an option instead and everybody could be happy?

"Accelerator" is it more than a fancy name for noise reduction? I'm not so sure I like it...and that is why I didn't upgrade.

But then even the K5 had noise reduction kicking in at 1600, and back then it was considered cheating as it improved some measurements.

In my experience you will not get any more details in this kind of scene, but you will get a lower noise level, unless movement cancels out the pixelshift effect. On the other hand, a light touch of noise reduction might get you the same result.
