Question for those who wear glasses.

I have read in Pentax literature that looking into the view finder at the focusing screen is the equivalent of looking at an object at 1 meter distance. So, if you can see objects clearly at one meter away with your dominant eye without glasses then you should zero out your diopter adjust.

It is something that you need to check regularly anyway if you use manual focus. My diopter adjust on my K-1 & K-5 II s get jostled while in use and are often out of adjustment.

Moon Over Bridge

Thank you. It is the Port Mann bridge over the Fraser River. That is the Super Blood Moon from a few years ago. The sun was setting behind me as the moon was rising in the frame. Getting the exposure was a bit tricky.

17-70mm repairs

I have had this lens for sometime and I like it even though I have had some frustrating moments with it. After first turning it on I need to adjust the focus ring close to being in focus and most of the time will jump into focus after that. I find if I am zoomed in to 70mm it has difficulty acquiring focus in low contrast scenes. When I am zoomed to 50mm or less it has little trouble finding focus, as a matter of fact it is quite fast and quiet. It also has problems focusing in very low light situations but so do many other lenses. I shot for years with manual focus lenses so giving this lens a quick adjustment when it will not acquire a focus is no problem.

My name is Geoff and I have been taking photos on Pentax equipment since I bought my K1000 (circa 1977). I live in the lower mainland of British Columbia, CANADA. The k1000 I used on a hike down the west coast trail, a trip to the Yucatan Peninsula and Belize.

Next I bought a LX (1985), that camera I used on hikes into the alpine, cross country skiing, another trip to Belize, commercial work, and I still use it occasionally.

I use a Coolpix L18 for snap shots of my hobby work - renovating the family cabin. I post them on a personal blog.

Last year I decided to get back into photography again so I bought a K01 as a test platform. After a year I decided I would get the K5IIs because I am still trying to get a digital version of the LX. I think I will have to use both the K01 and the K5IIs to do that, I will see.
