I have a $5 thrift store Nikkor-H 85mm f/1.8 that's rarely off my camera (modded with a Pentax mount) I's stiff to focus and only works @ f1.8 but it does what I love. Here's one from the park last week with the F70

This photo related illusion is not actually a joke but it made me laugh. A and B have exactly the same color, hue and luminosity values !!

I think someone mentioned using the back button to turn off autofocus. That's what i do. Being left eye dominant the autofocus button is useless otherwise 'cause it's right over my right eye.

Is fine tuning the focus of my lenses necessary?

I'm not a big 'super sharpness' kinda guy but my AF lens are plenty sharp for me. My most used AF lens are F32-70 F-50 DA70 DA16. The DA70 is almost too sharp. I just don't see 'things' with those kinda edges.

Anywhere online to buy focusing screens for the LX?

You can still buy the split screens ones on Ebay but the much more useful inexpensive dual 45 deg split screen ones have disappeared. I had to take one out of my K30 to put in the K70 .

My K5IIs is excellent but the main reason I bought a K70 (made in Mar 2021) is the K5's lack of peak focusing in Live View (what were they thinking). On the other foot, the K70's Drive Mode button is a PIA and I'm always turning it on accidentally.

Autofocus Kit Lenses of the Late Film Era

>The lens range booklets from the same era all showedPentax-F and Pentax-A lenses. The F35-135mm lens appears very similar in>construction to the F35-70mm lens.

I have both of these and they also have a very similarrendering quality. Because of it's size I use the 35-70 a lot moreoften.

One thing about the 35-70 is that the only thing that keepsthe front element block from loosening and eventually unscrewing it’s self is avery thin plastic lens sized washer that is just press fitted. When mine completelystopped focusing, I noticed that the first element group was loose so I lightly supergluedit in (if there is such a thing). I didn’t know about the washer until recentlywhen I bought another one. It needed a bit of snugging too. Both are SMC and outstanding.

In the ‘60’s I worked for a pro Philly photographer. There was a job that required a shot of a small jet taking off with its’ wheels just leaving the ground. The big pharma client hired the plane and we got permission to set up at the edge of the runway. My boss had a motorized Nikon and I had my crank and shoot K1000. We sure underestimated the speed of that experience. Back in the darkroom, between the2 of us there was exactly 1 usable but somewhat blurry shot on the Nikon roll.I printed it on the fastest and grainiest paper we could get and, although it was nothing like what was planned, the client loved ‘the feel’ of it, so we dodged a bullet that time. Probably should have used 16mm film. With today's tech we might have gotten a few more frames but man that happened quick.

The Pentax was the only one in the group that has a pentaprism, the rest have mirrors. They didn't mention that in the comparison.
