Creating new software for Pentax

There are open source projects for wifi integration, so I would start there.

Also, the KP supports native USB tethering, so I'd expect all future bodies to support it as well, both APS-C and FF.

If the battery isn't the issue, could be a failed or failing shutter. Definitely test with another battery when you get the chance.

Are the batteries themselves getting old? That's the first place I'd start my troubleshooting.

I think what you've seen, then, is the extent of the rotation automatically provided. A small external monitor might be what you need as an alternative :)

Make sure the electronic level is on. Menus should be rotated automatically as far as I recall.

What is Pentax doing?

Moved to the industry forum (because this is not news but rather lack thereof) in the hope that we'll get some thoughtful responses to this rather than simply more brand bashing.

Personally I think that Pentax cound do a much better job of staying in touch with customers. The fact that there are so many roadmapped lenses but no concrete releases and few updates gives off the vibe that they don't care, even if they're working hard behind the scenes. All it would take is some hands-on demos, Q&A sessions, microsites, and so on, while they develop their designs.

Secondly, it seems that the tethering support they added to the KP has gone completely overlooked. So many people have been asking for APS-C tethering, and they finally added it last April, but even I didn't realize that until a couple of months ago. This feature would be a perfect candidate for a standalone press release which never happened.

Finally, there should be some clarity on future direction. It's starting to be painfully obvious that they will lag far behind in terms of video/AF technology, and it would be better to own that and define a very clear niche instead of stating that things are being "researched". I think their strategy is to go down the most profitable route (which makes sense), but that doesn't mean it has to be at the expense of fans.

All that said, let's see how they spin the K-1 II. A minor refresh to the K-1 wasn't expected and could be a very welcome improvement if it is followed by a substantial development in one of the company's other product lines.

Question WYSIWYG Editor Acting Up

Edge is essentially the replacement for IE (and they did a great job with it, in my opinion). IE is only still around for compatibility with legacy systems and is no longer being updated feature-wise. However, Edge only works on windows 10, which is an issue for users of older versions of windows. Hence the need for Chrome, Firefox, and others.

Looks the same as the K-1, save the badge. Seems like the major changes might all be on the inside.

First of all, expecting anything to work in IE11 is probably a longshot. Have you tried Edge?

The carriage return issue makes it sounds like it could be related to something else in your system. I'm also not sure about spell checking, as that is a browser-level feature.

Another note to add, the KP has an interval composite mode, so it can do the stack for you automatically.

Sounds like a configuration issue. Definitely disable the noise reduction and set the interval equal to the shutter speed + 1 second.

Definitely the 20-35mm IMO. Pair it with the D FA 28-105mm as your walkaround lens and you'll have a nice lightweight kit.

Issues like this are usually related to voltage, so my recommendation would be to try with another (brand new, OEM) battery. If there's something wrong with the camera itself, repairing it won't be economical. However, the K-5 and all future models in that line use the same batteries, so your money wouldn't go to waste.

I don't think the "actual exposure" feature was available in the K-5; on later bodies you do get that in M mode, to an extent.

As for zooming, it's either done via the OK or INFO button. Can't remember as the interface was also changed right after the K-5.

For me it's only 1.7Mb. Maybe I'm clicking in the wrong place?

But the fact that there's a thumbnail suggests that it's not a raw format. Perhaps google converted it?

I would ping them about the tracking number. Perhaps there was a typo, or maybe it isn't in the system yet.

I know repairs are warranted for some period of time, so in that sense the original warranty gets extended, but otherwise I don't think it does.

You may need to do a "wet" or professional cleaning. Blowing + the automated system aren't always enough for stubborn, small pieces of dust.

Also, if you're a fan of silent operation, definitely look at cameras like the K-3 or KP, which have both DR II and quieter shutters.

Continuous shooting is fine if you want to shoot bursts, but shouldn't be your go-to.
