This weekend is the Great Backyard Bird Count . I had to go to the nature center to take some photos as I don't really have a feeder setup where I live now.

It's amazing anyone is servicing '50s Pentax' at all. Just try to find someone to do a CLA on a Topcon RE Super. And that was a '60s camera...The Navy used the Beseler Super D version through the '70s, and there isn't one old Navy technician doing CLAs...at least that I can find (and my GoogleFu is strong).

Another Topcon RE Super...

_IGP6087 by Ben McGann, on Flickr

This one was from shopgoodwill...In one of the listing photos you can see that someone had a price tag with $49.99 on it. That was about the right price...I paid more than triple than

The body is in nice cosmetic shape, but there was a corroded battery in it. The film advance lever doesn't snap back, it returns, but it is sluggish.

The lens has a small dent in the filter ring. No big deal. It also has fungus on one of the internal elements. Not enough to worry too much about.

But the aperture ring isn't attached to the aperture mechanism. Turning it has no effect on the blades at all. Pushing the stop down lever on the camera stops the lens full down no matter what the aperture ring is set to. The blades are also slightly non-symetrical when stopped down.

The Goodwill in Columbus, OH did a great job of shipping the camera. It was in the hands of FedEx the day after I paid...It probably should have come with a bottle of Astro Glide too...

The ME F was delivered Wednesday, the Auto 110 was delivered this morning. The 110 also had the 24mm, 50mm (broken filter ring), and winder.

The ME F I bought from shopgoodwill arrived yesterday. Today I bought some batteries. I put them in going by the markings in the camera. It didn't work...I looked at the manual on pentax-manuals.com and it turns out they need to be inserted the opposite way...Really intuitive...Now the meter works just fine ;)

I finally had a good Shopgoodwill experience. I won an auction last night. I paid for it last night. And it was shipped this morning! At least a label was printed...

This was from Goodwill of Columbus, OH. The only other time I can remember shipping anywhere near that fast was from a Goodwill in Texas...
