Thanks, I was surprised when I saw these last year, only two counties away. That is part of the old Great Black Swamp, one of the last populated areas in the state for good reasons. Good farm ground after they drained the swamp.

Ice, unfortunately someone has thrown trash onto this ice which is a half a mile hike into a nature area that is 5 or 6 miles from a town. Puzzling that someone went to that much trouble to find a place to drink.

Moman Mini Tripod - Greatest $30 Purchase in Last 5 Years!

Looks like a very impressive little tripod, especially using the DA 300 tilted. I like how flat it can get. Interesting one of the reviewers complained that it doesn't tilt, etc., apparently they don't understand the head.

Need help figuring out tripod and tripod head for k3 II

I have nothing new to offer besides the good advice you have received, just reinforcement. Make sure the weight rating of the tripod and the head is well more than your heaviest camera/lens combination that you will use with it. Make sure it's as tall as you want. I would recommend an arca swiss type quick release system. If it doesn't look sturdy, it probably isn't. Like krazykat, one doesn't do it all for me, I have a large heavy Induro, a MeFoto Backpacker tripod, and an even smaller MeFoto Daytrip that I can use as a tabletop or to get really low, and I also have an even smaller thing called a Pedco UltraPod II that can fit into a large coat pocket. There are a lot of good tripods made by many different manufacturers. If you have a chance to get to a store and see them do so. You should be able to get something new in your price range, especially if you can find a closeout. If you buy used make sure you can test it out. Hopefully you can avoid the pitfall most of us made when we bought a cheap tripod that didn't turn out well. I can't complain much, I only spent $7 on that first cheap one. If you don't already have one, get a wireless remote to use with the tripod, the cheap ones on ebay work just fine. Good luck with your purchase, it's one accessory that can really improve your photography.

In the last year I have got two Think Tank Turnstyle sling bags, They come in three sizes, a 5, 10, and 20. I got the 10 first, right now it has a K-30 with 18-135 attached, a small Sigma 50 macro lens, and an HD DA 15 Ltd, also some spare batteries, filters, odds and ends, I could put another small lens in if needed. In the 5 I have a Sony a6000 with 20mm lens attached, a 16mm, 18-55, and 55-210. The 5 could easily accommodate the K-30 and 18-55 with and a small prime or two. These are really small bags but very handy when you want to be mobile and light. You could fit either the 5 or 10 in another carry on bag. There is no way to get a tripod in them, they are too small for that. Think Tank has recently upgraded them to a version 2.0, I think B&H still has some of the Version 1.0 for a really good price.

You may be able tp find an Pentax-F 50/1.7 for bargain prices. I have one and it focuses fast, sharp, and renders nice colors. I've saw a few on shopgoodwill sold with cameras that go pretty well below $100.

Polarizers for DA15mm

They are like everything else, some are better than others. To get a decent polarizer you don't have to spend a fortune, but beware of the really cheap ones. I would stick with a reputable source, because I think there may be counterfeits out there. A bad filter can blur your photos, it is an extra piece of glass. However your 52 mm filter is not going to work for your DA 15, you won't be able to use the hood with a step up ring. There are slim polarizers too that will work better with certain lenses that can tend to vignette.

Bad Lens, camera or bad photographer?

It could be many things, it's very hard to tell from that photo.. Those older Sigma zooms are not known for their sharpness. I've had a few and there is a huge variance from copy to copy and many seem to do a much better job when the subject is closer. Resting it on the car with SR on would cause shake. Use the timer, or better yet a wireless remote and three second delay when on a tripod or sitting on anything. Try some controlled tests, preferably on a tripod, use autofocus on a clear target with lots of contrast, and also try it with manual focus using focus peaking on live view and magnify that. With the manual method you should be able to get near perfect focus and can see how sharp the lens actually is. Make sure you are shooting at the highest resolution and don't downsize your files for testing.

Fuji to Aquire Xerox for $6.1 Billion

Xerox made a lot of costly mistakes about 25-30 years ago and lost their lock on the copier business. trying to live off a reputation while their competitors passed them by at the speed of light. They did not think they had competition and that reputation faded fast. They have had to change and diversify a lot since then to survive. A very interesting acquisition.
