For your information the K-1 crop mode offers 15Mpxl not 16. ;)

I believe that it will be an 21/1.8 lens.

Thank you for your valuable feedback Chris! I have used the D500 and the 7DII but only with the Sigma 150-600S and I doubt if I ever have the chance to try them with a tele prime of the categories you are using! I love my DA 560 and I also believe (and hope) that the K-3III might be the best power up for such a lens!

I’m sure your 600/4 is better lens. It’s 3 times the price of the DA and an originally designed FF lens. According to DXOmark it vignettes -1 stop wide open while the DA -1.3 stops according to PFs measurements. About half a stop is a big difference but not something I can’t fix in PS using the lens profile on CRaw and make adjustments according to my liking afterwards.

It vignettes quite a lot, but it is not uncommon for long primes from other companies also! I was surprised by some vignette numbers from FF lenses being well over 1 or 1,5 stops wide open. As @KiloHotelphoto said from f/8 and smaller apertures I don’t find it to be a problem any more. In any case I was able to correct the vignette on PP even at images where the corners mattered.

Welcome to PFs! I would suggest you either one of the Pentax 55-300s (the PLM is superb but won't work on your K-5II other than wide open) or the excellent Tamron 70-200/2.8 you can find quite easily...

This may seem quite rational but is not indicative of the real alternatives to the K-3iii. First of all we should focus only on cameras that can be bought new. Even if we accept that there are all the cameras available as new, then we have to see who are the real competitors to the K-3iii. For me the D500 is the benchmark of this category and the other alternatives are the 7D2 and the 90D. If you go in a camera selling shop here in Greece for an APS-C DSLR you will most probably get out with one of these 3 models (or some Sony MILC alternative they will try to sell you). So Pentax is not for the average ignorant user who just wants a camera. Pentax is for those users that have made their homework and know what they want and why.
If you ask me all the above alternatives are out of question due to either being slow or having worse IQ than the K-3iii. The only real competitor is the D500 - great sports APS-C camera but mainly because of the lenses I could buy it with - and alternatively the D750 which I have used and is a beautiful all around camera with great IQ and "elastic" RAW files. If the K-3iii has upgraded AF-C tracking so much as to offer a reliable performance, it is a clear winner to me no matter how much better the D500 AF module is. There are so many other features the K-3iii will excel at that every well informed buyer will ask to see the new Pentax. But ONLY these potential buyers, no camera shop would recommend Pentax over the Casonikons. If you are lucky you may fall on a decent salesman/photographer that will tell you about Pentax too, but if your reply is "Pen what?" then he will aslo move on with the popular brands without any hesitation...
When I bought my K-5IIs after using my D7000 for over a year I was amazed about how much better the Pentax felt in every aspect from ergonomics to even AF performance despite the fact that in papers the D7000 seemed quite more advanced. I ended up taking only my K-5IIs every time I went for shooting and that says a lot. I would love to see the K-3iii being so different to the D500 but at the same time a real alternative with so much more fun to use and offering the well known Pentax IQ that for me is the most important factor (which leaves all the old Canon sensors out of my camera wishlist).
To sum it up, I really believe that since Ricoh/Pentax doesn't have the money for promoting their goods, Pentax cameras are for those who will ask to see and grasp a new model.

Welcome from Greece Dylan! Too bad you "lost" you K-70 but I'm sure you'll replace it somehow and keep enjoying your new one.

Exactly that! We sometimes post like we are expecting someone from Ricoh to jump in the discussion and answer all our questions. I like the posts that keep a rational and positive attitude about such a big thing for us Pentaxians as the release of a new APS-C flagship. Let see when we get more info about the camera...
