Taken between Ventura and Santa Cruz Island. We were on a ferry full of people and the idea of being on a boat by ourselves was pretty appealing at the moment. :)

Very nice composition; I like the framing of the further door within the nearer one, and the hard lines of shadow.
What's going on with the sun though? It looks almost hexagonal.

I agree -- with that cropped out, there are some nice leading lines down and across the frame.
Good eye in any case. B&W really works here.

Construction supplies and equipment waiting to be used around the back of the Pittsburgh Produce Terminal. Supposedly the building is going to be redeveloped here, but these pieces of concrete haven't moved for months.

I took this picture as part of a family vacation up the west coast in the summer of 2016. This was one of the places from that trip that I'd be happy to visit again. The other stand-out spot to visit -- though it's a little out of the way -- was Lava Beds National Monument. I should post some of my photos from there, too.

I like the coordination between her ribbon and jacket, and then the contrast they make with the rest of the scene. Very striking.

I wonder if focusingscreen.com would be able to do anything useful with this feedback (e.g. provide an 0.05mm shim) or if they're at the limit of what they can provide already.

Some people love using M all the time, others rarely do. With digital I don't find myself ever preferring it to TAv (if I need that much control) except when setting something up with flash. If you're getting pictures you like with Av, don't feel pressured to change just for the sake of it.

It's darktable, not darkroom. RawTherapee is worth looking at too.
You don't need to dive into all of these right away, though. You can get pretty far with anything that lets you crop, change white balance, and do basic exposure tweaks. e.g. Snapseed, Google Photos, Pixlr, probably many more.

Some shots taken from or on the 16th Street Bridge in Pittsburgh. At the time I took these (early 2016), I'd been in a creative rut for several months, and almost forgotten how much I enjoyed taking these sorts of minimalist pictures of details in the world around me.
