Great shot and nice to see something good come out of the storms that have been ravaging the North East Coast. Absolutely beautiful.

Thanks to you all for your kind words. I'm glad that these have encouraged you to consider a visit to Oz! Truth be told, many Australians never make it into the heart of the country. North Americans/Canadians are among the few other nationals who really know what it means to have vast - and we mean vast - distances between places. Adelaide, where I live, to Alice Springs (where these were taken) is a 16 hour drive through some pretty desolate yet beautiful country. These are just 20 mins out of Alice Springs and there are 1000s of kms of wilderness in any direction beyond. Then there are the mountains and rivers of Tasmania, the incredible tropical reefs and forests of North Queensland, the stunning wineries of South Australia, etc, etc, etc... :)

JPZK, I only wish I had a K1! But the K5-IIs is pretty bloody fantastic and in the end the light and the lens make the picture. I only recently acquired the Pentax 12-24 and this is the first time I've really have a chance to test it out. I've had the Sigma 10-20 - and it's great lens too - but the flare resistance of the Pentax makes the difference.

Thanks TT, 200 certainly saves some grief later on and with some big skies there's enough light. Appreciate your compliments.

I went to the desert for the first time in a long time and I took my camera out for the first time in a long time and I used the 12-24 for the first time........nice lens. And one day I'll learn how to use it properly but with this scenery it's very forgiving anyway.

Was just testing my recently acquired DFA 100 2.8 by taking shots of a dragonfly on a hedge. Cropped in to the wing and noticed the passenger! It's hand held so pretty soft but I like the microcosm.

Seriously, no-one wants this? There can only be two reasons. Everyone already has one (because it's simply the best bang-for-buck lens made for Pentax) or they simply don't know how good it is. Light, sharp, flexible and reliable.
I have one and I'd never sell it. If you don't......???

Be prepared, be persistent, be patient, be polite - be there.
One Christmas I decided I wanted to take portrait photos of my extended family. They weren't initially keen but by making the process voluntary, fun and allowing them to see the results early made for 100% buy-in.
I am so glad I persevered as I have a set of photos I treasure. They not professional but they're very special to me.

The background and the lighting make it salvageable but not able to be lifted to another plane.
Nice shot of a lovely person though.

The contest will run until the 4th of September, and I shall declare the winner then. Submissions can be in any written form (no video or audio files) — caption, limerick, motivational, poem or prose — whatever inspires you to describe the photo or catch attention. Submit by replying to the thread.

Contestants may submit more than one entry but it must be in a separate post.

Important: Even if you do not submit an entry, please “like” any posts you feel deserve it as this is how the winner is chosen! And if you DO submit an entry, please also find a comment that you like from amongst your competitors' efforts and "like" that one as well.

The "thread starter" is the moderator and must post an original photo at the start of the thread.

In case of a tie the moderator will choose one to break the tie. The winner of that contest will be notified ASAP after marking by the current Thread Starter/Contest Host and will become responsible for posting the next original work to be captioned.

Enter often, vote more often. and most important: Have fun !

Now, what did he say to make her giggle?
