Only 119,000 shutter actuations? You've barely begun to love that camera!
Mine is at 271,354 as of this past weekend...

Wow. I had this set years ago (and all the multi-colored bags, too), and it took me ages to put them all together. Then I sold them as a set because Pentax would never release a full-frame DSLR to use them on... ha!

I recently rented the DA 1.4x converter (along with other stuff) from Lensrentals.com and it has the least degradation of any teleconverter of the many I've used (including older Pentax refconverters, the 1.7x AF, and the more recent Tamron and Sigma ones).
So, I ordered one of the gray market ones from Amazon UK. If it isn't perfect, I can return it to Amazon US for free, and that price is a fantastic deal for something I'd be considering for a long while. :D

Probably my most-used macro and product photo lens. Actually prefer it over the FA77 Ltd.
Good luck, I'm not selling mine!

I went from the K10D to K20D to K-5 to the first K-3 in Canada way back when... then I stopped. Now I have two K-3's and they're just fine for me. They always work, and I don't need more. (I tried the K-1 but found it too big, too heavy, and it made my telephotos seem short. ;) )

Watching live now. Not quite as unusual as the KP-J, but that's a nice looking K-1 with the half-wood grip and "over the top" prism cover... (like a joke to them!)

Hey Norm!
Wife and kids are good, and staying healthy and away from others for now. Hope the same for you and yours! Heading to Boundary Waters/Quetico this summer (if things don't change radically), so I'll think of you while looking for moose. ;)
Meanwhile, let's not pick on what was said back in 2012... who knew there'd be a FF Pentax DSLR, or that they'd continue making APS-C cameras and lenses, or that the Limiteds would get zoom models, or that Pentax wasn't doomed, etc., etc. We all have 20/20 hindsight...
(BTW, I think these are my first posts in a very long time, but the K-3 is still my main camera!)

Years ago, I sold all 3 of my silver MIJ FF Limiteds as a set. This listing brought back a pang of loss, but then I looked at your albums for each lens (thinking they were shots of the lenses themselves) and realized you did more with them than I ever could. Alas, your talent is preventing me from buying them again, since I won't ever be as good as the previous owner. |

Pentax 10-17mm.
@ 10mm: 4 shots around, and 1 up will give you a full sphere.
@ 17mm: 8 shots around will give you a 360 strip.
The 15mm Limited is also pretty good.

Up for sale is my old K-5, a spare(!) 10-17mm fisheye zoom, and a DA 40mm XS super pancake.
Shipping is $10 anywhere in the US (even Hawaii, Alaska or APO), and I accept Paypal only. Can make a deal for combination offers, as well. Pentax K-5 body: SOLD
I am the original owner, but haven't used this much since I got my K-3 (and a few other cameras... ahem). It has 28,809 actuations, and a few scratches on the read LCD. Otherwise, in excellent condition, perfectly functional and ready to keep shooting. This is for the body only (with body cap, of course), but nothing else. I can also include a battery and Sunwayfoto L-bracket for another $25. Pentax DA 10-17mm fisheye zoom: $250
Excellent condition, only minor signs of use on the zoom ring. Glass is perfect, and aperture and electronics work as expected. This was my backup 10-17mm (for shooting panoramas) and was very rarely used. I love the focal length and effect of 10mm on APS-C, which is why I'm keeping my other 10-17! Pentax DA 40mm XS ultra-pancake: $125SOLD
The kit lens from the K-01, and the smallest APS-C prime you can buy. Not much bigger than a body cap, but incredibly sharp even at f/2.8, with very fast focus (since there's not much to move). This is a great "normal" focal length for APS-C, but since I purchased a 20-40mm Ltd, this has been languishing. Includes the hard-to-find rubber front cap and standard rear cap, and I should have a box and papers for it somewhere (though I did just move houses!).

Ciao Mauro,
The focus (if you call it that) is either completely off (you are focused at the closest focus distance) or the lens is badly de-centered. I wouldn't accept any new wide-angle lens with that quality.
But, before you send it back, two questions:
1) You shot at f/2.4 at 1/8000 of a second - did you intend to shoot the lens aperture wide open? (If not, does the lens have an aperture lever sticking out of the back for Pentax mounts? Meaning you can control aperture from within the camera.) The reason I ask is because most lenses are sharper stopped down a bit, and wide-angle views of landscapes or architecture need even more than that (like f/5.6 or f/8). You can hand-hold it down to a shutter speed of 1/125, so a smaller aperture (higher f number) should be no problem...
2) For that shot, was the focus scale (if there is one) at or near "infinity" (which is the end of the scale)? If the lens focuses beyond infinity (many do), that may be part of your problem. Take some test images at infinity and a bit less than all the way out, to see if there's a difference.

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing Item for Sale
Laowa 15mm f/4 ultrawide 1:1 Macro FF shift lens Asking Price
350.00 USD Item Location
Washington, D.C. (United States) Item Description
Selling a pristine LAOWA 15mm ultrawide macro+shift lens from Venus Optics. You can read more about this incredible lens on their website here.
This is a manual focus, manual aperture (as you'd expect from a shift lens), full frame lens in Pentax K-mount. It can focus down to 1:1 macro reproduction, albeit at less than 1" from the lens, and actually has pretty good bokeh for an ultrawide. Works well on a K-1 (no vignetting, except when heavily shifted), even though my samples below are from a K-3.
Includes box, papers, caps and removable hood. Focuses smoothly, glass is perfect, aperture is not snappy, since it's a stop-down and shoot kind of lens. All in all, excellent optically, mechanically, and cosmetically. Hard to tell from a new lens, except for the dust... which is why I'm selling it. Just don't use it that much. Thought I'd do astrophotography, but have realized I suck at staying up late! ;) Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

Did my virtual ears prick up?
Thanks for the props, i_o. I'm just a technician with lots of experience, but your spectacular work is art. (Really got get to the desert some day to shoot stars like you do!)
Rob, I replied to the thread on DPR about panoheads, and said the same thing that was said above. Nodal Ninja. Go to nodalninja.com and email or chat them any questions you have. Even call them if you're in the US! They know a tremendous amount about panoramic photography (unlike most makers of pano gear) because that's almost all they do and sell.
Unfortunately, I've been swamped lately, so haven't had time to really delve into these threads, but I'm aware of them! PM me if you have any direct questions, and I can get back to you in a few...

That's almost exactly my experience with the 40XS. I loved it so much, I bought a second as a gift for my niece because she only had the kit 18-50 that came with her K-S2. It's her favorite lens now, too (and my brother, her father, is jealous because he shoots Nikon).
For me, it was years of buying zoom lenses because "they are more versatile" but then I'd always shoot at one end or the other of the range (which I suspect is how most people use zooms), where most of the affordable zooms are not the best. Got a 35mm Limited Macro when they first came out and used my feet a bit, and it has become my second most-used lens (after the 10-17mm - don't ask).
So, I'd never "learned to love" any zoom. Then I got a 20-40mm Limited for a great price, totally prepared to say "redundant and not worth the replication of two of my favorite focal lengths (40 and 35)." Lo and behold, I actually like this lens, mainly because 20mm is a nice compromise.
