So, just happen to grab my K70 to snap some pics. I used it yesterday, no problems and then this happens. I had the k50 prior and replaced it with the k70. What are the chances this happens again!!!

Did a search, but couldn't find anything conclusive. Does anyone know an adapter that I can purchase on Amazon that I can use to put a Pentax 50m A lens on my bro's Canon t2i?

American Indian Museum at the end of Bowling Green and the Wall Street Bull. You can check it out before going to Ellis Island. Also, at Ellis Island see if you can get a private tour of the newly restored hospital building.

Try Alcatraz in SF. Old, eerie buildings with a fast fifty will do nicely. The ferry ride will surprisingly give great opportunities for action shots of wind surfers. Try Golden Gate Bridge as seen from Sausolito. Since you have a week maybe drive out to Sonoma for wine country and stop by Muir Woods for the tallest redwood forest

From the summer, each year I take a bike ride out the 9/11 monument in Bayonne, NJ. If you zoom closely, you can see NYC in the background of the reflection.

Thanks. The first is more true to natural color, but I agree, it looks flat. I tried to process the second image to bring out the colors, but it just looks unnatural. I guess I'll just have to practice more on my processing skills... Unless anyone can use the forum tools to tell me what it should look like!

I have a question on the same topic...given the same lens, would a different body result in better sharpness, contrast, and color rendition?

Still trying to get the hang of DNG vs. JPEGs. The first one here is a DNG saves as JPEG in Picasa. The 2nd shot is converted using the RAW conversion in-camera. Just not sure which is better.

Thanks for all the tips. In our culture though, baby showers are family affairs- all inclusive. With over 100 people, most of the men will find a way to enjoy.

The Sigma manual is terrible, as expected since many reviewers mentioned this.

Well, it is an exciting time for the fam and I'm glad I get a chance to test my skills!

@specialk, if I lose an f-stop do I need to stop down or does the pttl already compensate for that?

So I pulled the trigger and got a Sigma EF 530 DG ST for my k2000. I'll be shooting my brother's baby shower and some other indoor events with the kit lens and needed a better light source.

I've read about bouncing flash etc., but haven't found a good tutorial on how to evaluate a scene...ie: when to bounce off ceiling, or left/right wall, when to use diffuser. My flash gun also has a flip down plasticky piece (not sure what that's called) in front of the bulb...not sure when or how to use that either.

Also don't know when to use PTTL, low, or high power. Pretty clueless, hugh?

Thanks for any help!

Nature sharpness

I'm no expert, but I have taken a photography class but for film. How does it work, do critique on screen or from prints? The exif shows you shot at the widest at 18mm on the sigma. Could be that lens just isn't that sharp at the wide end. Also, with the composition and subject matter, I'm not sure where you can actually measure sharpness.

I just downloaded the file from Flickr and it does look like resolution is low.

Sigma 30mm/1.8 or 18-50mm EX DC Macro?

Ok, I admit it, just a little bit of LBA! I'm not ready to get a new body as I've only had my k2000 for about a year. With all the advice here, I'm leaning more towards a Metz 48 now. I'm not much of post-processor so I like to avoid high-iso noise, which the k2000 has plenty of. With a flash, I think I'll be able to keep from that tough job of thin DOF too.

@Specialk, I see from your tag line that you have the Sigma 18-50. Care to give me your thoughts of that as an alternative? I'm basically looking for something faster than the kit lens wider than 40mm w/ AF for indoor pics. Which version of the 18-50 sigma do you have?

400us. I thought about a flash but feel its just too much to carry around. I lke to keep my bag down to the body, 2 lenses, and batteries. I love the 40mm but its a bit long for indoors. I prefer af especially as the kids grow older. I just can't nail down mf to be comfortable

I finally got approval from the wifey for a new lens, but now I can't decide. We're expecting our first child this April, so I've been thinking about a faster piece of glass for baby pics.

I have the DA 40mm, kit lens, and M 50mm/1.4. I've been shooting for about 2 yrs and find myself preferring the wide end, usually from 18-50mm. Not sure if I should upgrade my kit lens to get faster at f2.8 at a wider end or if the advantages of a prime at 30mm is enough. I like the kit lens, but since I have the k2000 I can't go too high with ISO. Hoping f2.8 or even f1.8 will help more with low light.

Any ideas/thoughts?

Because I have a terrible memory! I all seriousness, my wife and I travel a lot and I can't bear to imagine the day when my memory starts to fade and forget where we've been, what we've seen. I love to take out my photo albums and say, "Remember when..."

A picture is worth a thousand words and I'm a much better photographer than I am a writer.
