Good to hear. The 100mm WR is an excellent lens. One of the few with true edge-to-edge sharpness. Pixelshift is not only about sharpness but also about also about accurate color and reduced noise. I'm a big fan of this feature.

In my experience, scanning film photos with pixelshift obviously doesn't make the originals sharper but minimizes the loss of taking a picture of a picture. :D It retains more of the original details and color while adding less noise.

Affinity Photo.
It's the one that is sticking out. It's affordable and very powerful. And there is a good support forum to ask any question form beginners to professionals.

RAW converter: Pick any one of the current ones. They are all good and equally have their trade-offs. Pick the one that you find the easiest to work with.

My go-to combo is Capture One Pro + Affinity Photo.

If I want to squeeze out every bit of image quality in RAW development, I use DCU or Silkypix DS.

New Sony APS-C Sensor - 26MP

Doesn't even need to be a hybrid viewfinder if that tech isn't ready yet. A kind of hybrid camera would be sufficient in the first step. Mirror up makes it essentially a mirrorless camera with all the fancy features minus viewfinder. Some (younger?) photographers don't even use the viewfinder on mirrorless.

The K-1, the Z and also the KP iirc already have face detection in LV. But for my taste focussing and the shutter procedure is a bit slow compared to ovf mode. But I don't know whether the mirrorless cameras are faster in this regard. Maybe a mirrorless sensor would fix this. The WG Series also detects smiles and if someone blinks, so they already have this kind of software in house.

However, as far as I know, mirrorless sensors have a bit of a banding issue due to their focussing pixels. Image quality is one of the core values of Pentax, so this would be interesting how they deal with that.

Looking with two eyes seems a bit impractical to me.

A switchable vf would be nice. Basically a OVF where the screen of the EVF could slide in if the user wants to switch. IDK if that is technically feasable. Might make the hump really big and look awkward. But it could be a good solution on the way to a true hybrid vf.

Or „just“ a click-on EVF next to the OVF.

Ecxactly. The keyword is SOME. Afaik Pentax serves a niche and not the general mass market. Those who don‘t go or stick with mirrorless are a large enough target group. That‘s how I understand these interviews.

Additionally, as some said, the gap might get smaller with hybrid vf and other technologies. They are still having an eye on the market. No drama to see here really.

Darktable 2.6 is out

I'm currently trying Darktable and it's tethering feature. It detects my K-1 on Mac as a "USB PTP Class Camera" but there is no operation possible. I can't trigger the shutter or anything.

Has anyone tried this before?

There is a troubleshooting section which I tried but didn't get far with the command line snippets ("no such file or directory"). It says it relies on gphoto2. I downloaded it but I don't know where to put it or what to do with it. Could anyone give me a hand?

Compact is very welcome, but I hope it is longer than 90mm. On my K-5 I used to use the 17-70 as my favorite lens. I often used the long end at 70mm (105mm equiv.) and find the 24-70 on the K-1 way too short in many situations.

Does anyone know whether the WG-60 has video AF-C?

I thought not but in one clip it re-focussed after a few seconds and I don‘t know why or how. And ideas?

Poll: Ultra-Wide on FF: Which lens(es) to keep and which to sell?

Looking at that list again it seems like they were purchased without finding the right lens yet. Or maybe just for fun, idk. :D I know this wasn't the original questions, but one lens is missing which is the DFA 15-30 2.8. Maybe it's worth a thought. I'd trade in that list for this lens. As an alternative the FA 20-35 f4, but if you use the K-5iis then the 15mm would make more sense.

Camera connectivity

I just tested this from my iPhone to MacBook via "AirDrop", which a Bluetooth connection to send files without going over the internet or a wire. It's quite fast, even for videos, but it is only available when Bluetooth AND WiFi is turned on. I don't know why. If that worked with the camera, it would be awesome.

That would be great. I‘m not happy with the current connectivity (which is somilar on most DSLRs).

I didn‘t know that BT could do that kind of data. If so, i‘d like it. Anything that can control the camera and transfer images faster than the current slow wifi.

Me too, but for me it's more the available lenses. I wouldn't want to invest a bunch of money and then have to use legacy lenses. A modern version of the 80-160 would be nice and the 90mm macro feels a bit short. But currently I'm more than happy with the K-1 so I'll wait and see.

Thanks for the video!
Sharpness and noise on the gfx almost seems like there would be some in-camera sharpening going on.

They said they are watching the market.

K1 users: what lenses do you use?

:D I Sold the 43 ltd and the 20-35 f/4 to make it more reasonable. I decided to reduce my lens park and don't double-cover focal lengths without a good reason (e.g. like macro). Less but good stuff. That's why I like the OPs approach.
