You can start off with no flash if you like, especially for outdoors. If there is plenty of sunlight then you should be ok, even though I suggest using apertures of f8-f16 to maximise dof. ive worked handheld with f11 and 1/100s outdoors plenty of times. The Raynox is tricky at first but you just need to practise to get the hang of it. If you have a tripod, it definitely helps. I find that an external flash used off camera, gives lovely lighting and pop to my subject, so that is something to consider also.
I use it with my DA55-300 a lot, never heard anyone using it with the newer PLM version, so might want to ask around first

Some beautiful pics on here with the DCR-250 as well. Doundounba has posted some amazing shots with it.

Same user I mentioned above has been using his 250 with the D-FA 100mm Macro.
Might get inspired :)

From your sig I see you have the 100mm macro WR. why would you need a Raynox?

Secondly, the DCR-250 has greater magnification than the 150 and will be harder to nail focus. It would probably be easier to focus with the 150 and your M135 f3.5

WPRESTO is spot on. MF, focus set to infinity and move back and forth until your subject is in focus. I always use f8-f16 to get as much as I can in focus. Sometimes f16 will require the use of flash. For instance, the caterpillar I posted above was shot at 190mm, f16 and 1/125s with the use of flash. The greater the focal length, the harder it is to focus. Especially with the DCR-250.

Hope this helps.

Hi photolady. I am aware of that and when i bought the dcr-150 back then, it was mainly to use with the 55-300 which was the best combo and gave me great results. now the 55-300 is gone and im only left with the dcr-150 which only really works on my 50's etc etc. it vignettes on the 18-135, and filter size is too big for the 85mm and 24-70mm and wont work anyway. its either a cheap prime or the dcr-250 then.probably cheaper to get the M135/3.5. dont shoot so much macro, otherwise I would have invested in a macro lens. just the occasional flower, insect etc.

sadly i sold my 55-300 which i paired with the DCR-150. im currently using my 50 and 58mm lenses but would like some more magnification. what would be my best and cheapest option out there? the M135? im planning in buying the tammy 70-200 f2. 8,hence why i sold my 55-300 and dont want to spend more on buying a macro since i already have the raynox.
