Jpeg in built camera is incredibly good with K1. On top of that, i don't see any difference between fine and regular quality
Compared with my K5, i can get the same quality until 3200 iso -not more!
With K1, you can go until 6400 iso without any problems!
A step further is @12800 where you loose some details in shadow where RAW is still good!
An impressive camera!

Will the K1 get a new capability to focus in manual mode?
I dream to use my M42 lenses with the new FF but i don't read anything about that.

I would use another letter like MD or ZD or XD to start the FF digital line-up. K-1 for FF is confusing because K-3 will have probably successors (K-2, K-1)

Strange LCD fixing. For lateral view?
No news about sensor?
Very strange marketing attitude a few month before sale...

New Pentax FF will NOT be a 42 MP!

I hope this rumor is true.
I can't affort to buy a FF camera for 3000 € or 4000€ with a FF lens.
This is madness (and suicidal) if they do it.

We have new details about the upcoming new Pentax FF here:
http://forum.xitek.com/thread-1508304-1-1-1.html

And it will not be a 42 MP!
As i said before, Pentax will keep the 36 MP, cheaper and completely improved for great results (pixel shift?).
Price could be agressive around 2000 €

Can the Pextax Full Frame rival the outstanding Sony A7RII ?

I doubt Ricoh will use the last 42 MP sensor on its new FF in october. It's too early and expensive for them.
Specially if Pentax uses its own modified sensor which needs time to develop it.
When K3 has appeared in 2013, the 24 MP from Sony was on the market from 2011.
Im not sure about my own theory but if the new Pentax FF is in the stores for christmas, they have chosen already its sensor for a long time ( it exists right now!).
So 36MP or 42MP?
I hope it will be 36 MP
Why? First, i know Pentax works hard to improve existing sensor from Sony and they did it well in the past.
Second: price! If they choose 36 MP it's possible to sell their FF less than 2500$
But marketing is marketing and im not a business man.
So more reliable informations and facts are required.

The green dot is not sufficent when you make street photography or moving subject. Telemetric system and EVF system are the best for the moment for manual focus. Digital SLR has a limitation about that. We could seriously imagine a solution including the same digital back system of Hasselblad. You would give to your old film bodies a second life! :)

You are talking about rangefinder system like Leica camera. But not compatible with actual Pentax Lenses which use SLR system.
I keep in mind my wonderful Canon AE-1 program which has a HUGE viewfinder with a complete and clear manual focus system. Canon AE-1 have split screen viewfinders which cut the image in half and you have to line the cut image up in order to focus. It is very accurate and fast. Technically it's possible to adopt it on a digital camera.

Owner of an A7, i enjoy to use focus peaking with manual lenses. It's only possible with EVF. So the best thing Pentax should do is to use it on its new FF body. But i suppose they will keep the old optical pentaprism system. So i don't expect to use old manual Pentax lenses with the new K1(?). Wait & see.

Pentax Full Frame DSLR Camera to be Announced in November

Im not totally happy with this update. The new 42 MP sony sensor will be expensive (compared with A7RII around 3500$). For me 36 MP is enough. There is no great difference between 36 and 42 MP. So why to spend more than D810 which is a great value for the moment?

No; until 3200 iso quality is comparable with K3 but 6400 iso kills K2S (based on K1S sensor)

Avoid Jpeg inside K-S1. Lightroom makes so much better the job until 3200 iso. Above it's really noisy and very destructive.:( compared with K5 sensor.

K-S2 is Coming

Because of its bad low light capability, i hope Pentax will not choose the 20MP sensor inside the K-S2.
My main complain about K-S1 was the horrific result @ 6400 iso.
If they want to use the old line-up of Pentax (K30, K5,K50), it's necessary to choose the K3 sensor to play on the semi-pro area of digital cameras.

Owner of a K5, the K-S1 is far behind knowing it use "only" a 12 bits RAW processing and an old 20MP sensor. A bad choice for me.
