Birds taking a bath in fountain Halifax Public Gardens
Cropped images by 50% to bring out detail as birds were just out range of 18-135 lens on a K70
I can see a lot of fun captions to go with these pictures

I like it Nice use vanishing point perspective:cool:

I'd say here in Nova Scotia especially in Cape Breton where Gaelic is still spoken. I guess there are more than a few around that are able to properly pronounce the name of the bridge in Gaelic

Just got my K70 back after the same failure. Besides the Aperture Block there was also a failed resistor, I'm unsure if the resistor failed because of or caused the Aperture Block failure

I like both shots they are very well done and a fine example of the religious architecture in Quebec
I think both images are very sharp. I think the sense of sharpness between the 2 photos is more due to the curves in the roof line and arches, the perspective. towards the altar.and being off line to the center of the church
In the setup of the shot I believe you were using the candles as your subject and the rest of the sanctuary along with the line perspective of the pews as background. If you were able to do the same shot down the middle isle with the altar as the focal point some of the distortion may be less noticeable

The results are pretty typical for the extreme range of a 135mm lens
Did you use a tripod?
To improve sharpness after cropping I'd try using a little higher F-Stop (F-11) to force light through a sharper area of the lens and increase the ISO to 400 or 800 to compensate at the same shutter speed
Remember shooting the moon especially a very bright Full Moon is almost like shooting in Daylight

Based on my experience with the same Marine engines (EMD or Alco). Each engine will burn close to 125 - 150 gallons of diesel fuel per hour out of the saddle tanks at full throttle
