After weeks of gray weather the sun shone a while through a hole in the clouds. So out quickly with the precious 50 1.7.

Iheiramo, very nice lake picture!

I also useC1, for several years now, version 8. The basic rendering is generally so nice that only a few adjustments are necessary, such as exposure and sharpening. The rest I do in PS by habit, although it probably could be done in C1 too.
Panoramas I have not tried yet but after seeing some of yours with 50 1.7 and 28/3.5 I’m interested.

Hi iheiramo,
Many beautiful photographs you have here. Especially I like the ones taken with 50/1.7 and 28/3.5. I think I’m going to use my 50 1.7 more in the future, I had almost forgotten how good it is. Here is one taken a few years back.
What software you are using for picture editing and panorama?

Hmm.. the picture downloaded here seems to have lost some of the clarity and sharpness. Or is it Firefox?

FF: Will there be an aperture / stop down coupler?

Not necessary here. Just read the appropriate lens reviews in the forum. Browse the "K" and "M" club etc pictures too. Not worth the effort? Who can say that? How do you value it?

Another thing, you can get 3-5 legacy lenses at roughly the same price and quality than 1 of the newer offers. Not to mention often better metal construction. I'm not saying that there are not high quality high end (and expensive) new lenses too.

Funny how there are many people who think to know better what other people need than themselves.

FF: Will there be an aperture / stop down coupler?

"But with that damn coupler, more people would be using old glass.."

With that logic it would be recommendable for Pentax to cut off all compatibility of older lenses in digital cameras. First, away with the damned "green button", right?

Backward compatibility with all K-mount lenses has been one of the wisest decisions by Pentax during digital age. Along with in-body SR.

The speak about "crippled K-mount", without aperture coupler is quite legitimate and will not vanish.

Well it has become clear that people have differing preferences on this issue. Let's respect them. Both are legitimate. No absolute right or wrong here.

You don't have to be pro or semi-pro or even "serious photographer" to find FF camera useful. Many of us have for long had 35mm film cameras plus "FF" glass to go with it. Nothing new, good old views.

Maybe some people are afraid that if their top FF camera would have inbuilt flash, it would ruin the "pro" image of their gear?

Are you suggesting I should have an extra camera for just an odd flash picture? ;)

And you suggest that people should buy a kit with external flash for an odd flash shot. Because the camera hasn't one.

I am just saying that IF I someday should buy FF by Pentax, I hope that it has all the bells and whistles that I need in the same -but preferably compact and light - package. Same thing if my computer/monitor hasn't got a card reader, I can buy an external one, but better still if they include it. Less hassle.

Unfortunately my phone camera as yet does not take Pentax 55-300 that was used in the wasp situation..

---------- Post added 7th Feb 2015 at 19:50 ----------

Another thing to note, it would be quite important for me, when contemplating acquiring the FF, that it is NOT heavy. Fortunately, judging by the first model, it should apparently be not much heavier than K3, which is still quite portable I think.(For now I'm using the still lighter k30.) But this is a subject perhaps better to be discussed more elsewhere.

Besides normal pictures in dark, or fill flash in natural light, onboard flash is handy when documenting stuff, and goal is not "artistic" picture. A while ago I used built-in flash as memory help when disassembling/renovating my computer. Before that I documented a wasp nest in a dark shed when planning my later commando attack. :)

Cameras have many uses, mind you.

Although I knew Pentax K30 is a fine camera, I was still a bit suprised how favourably it compared against "big boys" in this test.

FF Under Development

Backward compatibility with vintage lenses and in-camera SR are Pentax' important current strengths. These were also the reasons that I (finally) 'crossgraded' to Pentax DSLR (of course along with the competitiveness of other features). And I believe I'm not the only one.

How to push the Pentax Full-Frame Idea and get that FF out faster...

This is about my experience too (except the fear that FF alternative would some way be fatal to Pentax).
The extra resolution, probably a minority of photographers will need it, as "crop" sensors are so good already. I don't print posters anyway.

Almost the only reason that I can imagine for buying FF would be the different picture angles that it provides for existing lenses. Back to the film time feelings. But not bigger size camera please!

Vivitar 28mm F2 problem
Posted By drawbar

I bought a nice looking Vivitar 28mm F2 (apparently Komine made). Maybe I was too hasty though, as it does not fit on my Pentax.

Firstly, there is a protruding fixed metal pin near the aperture lever ( see the green arrow). Maybe it is part of the reason?
Secondly, no hole for the body locking pin, so obviously the lens cannot lock securely. The red arrow shows the usual place for it in PK lens. Maybe I could drill a hole.
This lens does not have the infamous 'ricoh pin'.

Is there a solution, or maybe this a Konica lens? As I have read in some places, K/AR can mean that a Ricoh lens aperture ring has an 'A' position (this has AE position). Or it can mean Conica Auto Reflex.
