Took K100D apart to polish dirty viewfinder, now camera turns itself off immediately

That's the craziest part though, I didn't really go that far. All that the process really consisted of was removing the rear, bottom and top plastic pieces (left everything intact, no desoldering). Really got nowhere near the innards of the camera itself.

This was one of my first thoughts, but I've tried turning it on without any screws (holding everything together by hand) and the problem persists.

I take back the observation about different batteries. Every battery gives the same problem: I flip the on switch, about 2-3 seconds later the displays flashes on very quickly then turns back off. A new thing I've noticed that if the flash is manually raised, when I turn the camera on, the display flashes twice before turning off.

There were only 4 that I can remember being obvious, one coming from the diopter assembly, and 3 connecting to the bottom of the back piece (I assume for the rear LCD and buttons) and I'm pretty confident all of those were solidly connected.

4 Amazonbasics NiMH give me the quick turn off problem. When I tried 4 Duracell Alkaline batteries, it doesn't flash on at all. The NiMH were all around 1.3v and the alkalines were all right around 1.6v.

I've taken it apart/put it back a couple times so far and nothing stands out as obviously off, that's why I'm so confused as to what's going on.

I'm hoping one of you guys might have a clue what's going on. I recently got a K100D Super with the knowledge that the viewfinder was very blurry. I disassembled it per the service manual (no desoldering or anything, just removing screws) and was able to pop the eyepiece out and clean it successfully with some plastic polish. After reassembling it though, I found that the camera would no longer stay on. When I flip the switch to On, the top LCD display turns on for a moment, before immediately turning off, and the rear LCD does not turn on at all. In that split second that the display powers up, it does show the correct icons/settings/picture count/battery (depending on where the camera mode dial is). I tested it successfully before disassembly and used the same 4 batteries afterwards, so it seems pretty obvious that something occurred while it was apart, but I was very careful not to avoid any of the electronics, so I just don't know what happened. Does anyone know what I might have done to cause the camera to do this? The only thing I can imagine is a problem with the switch itself.

Item for Sale
SMC Pentax-A 50mm 1.4

Asking Price
125

Item Location
Palm Bay, FL (United States)

Item Description
I have a very nice Pentax-A 50mm 1.4 for sale. Glass is super nice, no scratches or fungus of any kind. Body is also in good condition, do dings or anything, but there are a few specs where the black paint has come off (pointed out in the picture). This lens takes wonderfully sharp low aperture shots, but I am selling as I have sold my Pentax camera. Comes with rear cap, but I can't seem to find the original front cap.

I'm looking to get $125 shipped within the U.S. I will ship internationally, but you'll have to pay a bit more for shipping, depending on your location.

I'm currently looking to sell my Pentax gear altogether. Included in this package are the following items:
  • White Pentax K-x in great condition, no scratches, 18000 shutter actuations

  • SMC Pentax-A 50mm 1.4

  • SMC Pentax-DA 18-55mm AL

  • JCPenney 135mm f2.8

  • Camera Bag

  • Optech Neoprene Strap

  • 4Gb SD Card

  • 55mm CPL filter, 55mm ND8 Filter, 52mm ND8 Filter

  • Remote Shutter

  • M42 Adapter (none of the lenses require one, but it's nice to have for the future)

  • Usb Transfer Cable

All the lenses are in great shape. I'd like to get $575 shipped for everything (within the U.S.). I will ship internationally, but you'll have to pay a little extra shipping depending on where you're at.

I apologize for the quality of the pictures, as the K-x was my main camera, I had to use a cell phone camera (ugh).

Indeed, I bought it for a vacation trip I took this summer and it was the perfect lens for the "across the table in a dark restaurant" shot.

I'm not the first owner, so I can't say for sure how old it is, but I'd assume it's relatively new based on the condition. I have messed around with AF adjustments, but I found that having the adjustment at 0 gave the best results on this lens.

Item for Sale
Sigma EX 30mm f/1.4

Asking Price
$350

Item Location
Florida (United States)

Item Description
Bought this recently for a vacation trip and it served me really well but right now I think my gear lineup needs something a bit longer. It works great, is clean and doesn't have any scratches. I don't have the original lens hood or front cap (its a Tamron cap as you can see, rear is original though), but I found that the lens was really resistant to flare and that I didn't really need to buy one.

I'd like to get $350, shipping included in the U.S. Also willing to ship outside the U.S., so PM me and we'll work something out.
