One K-Mount PRIME to rule them all 2019

APSC, As must as I want to say DA21 but it is not a WR lens. I will have to go with DA*55. It is just in the right size and weight, fast and can be used in all weather. If it too tight, I can take 2 or 3 image and stitch them together fairly easy in post.

((Pentax, please update your FA and DA limited to a WR serie! if you want to update old lenses, GOOD, but make it WR otherwise it is no point for prime shooter to buy your sealed body! I am just saying because I envious at my Funji's friends!))

it is a L-blacket and a wireless remote control for me.
I can forget any accessory at home but if I forget one of the two, I will be very frustrated with myself.

Yes, that is what I has always been doing in combination of smart object and masking for both firework and road traffic light trails. But some time the file can get really big an slow down the computer too.

Waiting for the light or post-processing?

Variate Luminosity Mask techniques might help.
I enjoy do cityscape photo at night (K3). Light contrast can be insane in many locations, therefore, Luminosity Mask is a must-do in my post process. We can even do it right in the CameraRaw and it is a lot fewer clicks than doing it in Photoshop. A lot of tutorial on Youtube.

Or another thing which might help is bracketing it when shoot and use the Merge to HDR in CameraRaw (assume that you are on Adobe CC2019). It is only 2-3 clicks. Then do the Luminosity Mask after that (only if it is still needed). But even on K3, I don’t feel a need to bracket my urban night photo. K3 ISO100 can do the job. You are on K1, it should offer you a lot better dynamic range.

Agree and the more you do the faster you will be. As for night urban shooing as I enjoy doing, it is unavoidable because besides shooing during the blue hour which is short, I hardly find the perfect lighting.

Yes, as mentioned by @Megapixelmk, and this page might be useful as well Pentax K-3 Multi exposure and Interval Composition | Wallace Koopmans Artlog

as for firework show, I perfer to use continuous shooting mode and I will do the blending / masking myself in Photoshop. It take more time on post processing but I have a choice to convert them to timelape video too. Beside that I tried those composit setting before and I found myself haveing to check the camera setting and photo at the end of each sequence everytime. I end up enjoy the live show less. Now I just set it to 6 sec, continuneous shooting and let the camera do its job I won't touch it or even look at it untile the show end.

However multi exposure composit is very handy for daytime long exposure.

New SC owner looking for a Case

I just got a Theta SC last weekend and now looking for a case,

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good case? Quick and easy to use. It doesn't need to be a waterproof case.

Note that I am looking for a case or some people call it glove. Not a bag.

I like my phone case which made of TPU. It is a haft way between Rubber & Plastic material. It flexible like Rubber but not too soft like silicone and won't crack like hard plastic.
I am looking for a Theta case made of TPU and I can not find one (Yet)!
something like this one on eBay seems to be a perfect design for me but not the material used.Silikon Haut Hülle Schutz Abdeckung Linse Deckel Für Ricoh Theta S SC KamerC | eBay

The explanation said it is silicone.. SOFT silicone! I don't like that soft silicone thing. it sticks to cloth fabric and attracts dust particles like nobody business.
or
Anyone use a similar case as seen on eBay link? what do you think about it? Give me a review. It might not be better than what I think?

Thank you in advance

what Gawetdirt said are consistent with a podcast I am listening to. They talked about how Kodak failed and interview former employees including the R&D guy who invente the first sensor which become camera's sensor we are using today.
Spectacular failure, if any one interested. Very good show.
Nokia might be another good one for them.

The impression I get after the show was expressed in my very first post. Those making decision were unwilling to change their business focus another words, too slow to adapt to the change, too comfortable to be in where / market they are in. Their reactions to the change were too little, too late, and it distroied the great company.

my K3 II freeze

I wonder any of you guys set to High Continuous shooting mode? This is what I find out and it will be good if anyone can test and confirm.

My K3 doesn't freeze if
- on normal shooing (single shooing mode) no matter how low the battery level is. (usually, I change the battery if it goes down 1 one dash.)
- on Medium continuous shooting mode no matter how low the battery level is.
- on High continuous shooing mode after a few hours of normal shooting no matter how low the battery level is.

It will likely freeze if
- on high continuous shooting model + battery not full without a few warmup shots. by warm-up, I mean maybe an hour of normal shooting / 40-50 shots?.
- I would say 50-50 for the first 1 or 2 hours "if it is using full battery comes with my K3" even on the normal shooting mode. I guess my K3 battery is a bad copy. If it doesn't happen after 2 hours of shooting, it will likely not happen at all no matter what shooting mode I am using.

No one here knowing exactly what will work for the changing market. So I only learn from the mistake the other had done. Kodak file for bankruptcy while FujiFilm expand their knowlage to Medication science and many more which we all see they are still keep on trying.

I just saw a movie company or TV station people (I guess) with around 10 or more a7III (I guess it is the III version, since I see it from the other side of the road) with ultrawide lens attach to each of them line up on tripods close to my office (with a lot more equipment in the area).
I guess Sony rather target professional and imaging businesses with their pro-level body than target one unit sale to amateur rich kids.

Be Very Careful Buying “Pentax Mount” Items on eBay, Many Are Not

I have never buy anything serious on eBay.

In case anyone want to look at or order something from Japanese online used camera gears site, check this one out
I already set the search criteria to Pentax ( ペンタックス ) lens ( レンズ )

Not sure anyone of them offer international shipping and they are all in Japanese. but at less you can see the price (it not that cheap now a day).
I order F28 and FA20 from that site long ago.

K3 and DA10-17 at 10mm in an underground tube with many tubes above. I wonder why they did not put more tube to the left and right walls too. on the states as well.

by the way, the new HD 10-17 is coming out. Anyone not sure if you should get one, I can tell you to just get one. :D
it is a shame they didn't add WR either improve the look of its starburst effect, but it is a very good and fun to use lens.

Hate it when I carefully manual focus then accidentally touching the front part of the lens hood on the glass window in front and the focus shift a bit, makes everything look soft / out fo focus, step back and the opportunity gone. It is what happened to this image. by the time I notice this, try to step back, re-compose and the guy left the scene! :hmm: . Maybe he spot me taking photo from above :p.
