Apparently 'Big Brother' has left his thumb print in place of recent comments in this thread. A commendable moderation move...let's indeed keep it all about pure photography.

Camera Strap for the k30-k50

I have an American brand 'knuckle wrap' strap -its brand name now eludes me-fixed to the K30 which has its own tripod mounting screw. The downside of this otherwise adequate arrangement is that I have to unscrew it in order to fit a tripod mounting plate. As an alternative on my K5, I have butchered a Pentax strap in order to convert it into a 'knuckle wrap' jobbie that employs/retains a tripod mounting plate by making a carefully marked out hole -depending upon the size of your 'bunched' hand-with a sharp implement then heating a suitable diameter screwdriver through the resulting hole in order to enlarge it to the required diameter of the base plate screw. Doing so produces an 'eruption' of solidified/molten plastic on the strap (depending upon which side you poke the hot implement through of course) which can then be pared off and flattened with a sharp blade. I have subsequently measured and created a second hole in the same way in order to accommodate the addition of a battery grip, but with or without said bolt on accessory, my strap is now a snug fit around the back of my hand in either case and slips into my tripod as and when required.

Unless you employ a generic type camera strap, however, those afflicted with the same apparent product malaise as Mrs Kshapero will have apoplexy if you opt to use the Pentax camera strap, as it will still promotes the product upon conversion!

Not a critical comment so much as an observation you understand...but a shame you didn't have time to focus upon the eyes as they look somewhat opaque and 'lifeless' as a consequence. This is the killer with bird 'togging isn't it, as the little buggers frequently catch us on the hop far more than we catch them in the ideal situation!
Having said as much, however, you totally caught the detail of this particular species of Lil' Jack m'man, which I have consequently enjoyed viewing.

By all accounts all three gigs went down a storm and she was in negotiations for a fourth venue around the Northampton region until some bad-assed crew of heavies calling themselves 'the 9th' muscled in on her scene and closed it down.
Typical bleedin' Roman attitude of course...anything resembling enjoyment amongst the natives, suppress it!

Cheers for your response and yes, I will undoubtedly tap into -and benefit from- the collective wisdom evident on this site :)

Here we go guys, a newbie with more camera technology in his bag than brains to figure it all out and use it to it's best! Played with a K10D for a good while then became seduced by the K30 and may have been amongst the first in the UK to acquire a white bodied example. The Mrs suggested that it looked a bit 'Star Wars' until she saw it nailed to the Sigma 150-500, then even she had to admit that it looked pretty cool from a visual perspective, which was nice
The voices in my head have just recently made me purchase a mint K-5 and simply switching it on scares me quite frankly, let alone thinking about using it,but what the's a bench mark bit of Pentax kit that'll wait for me to grow into it no doubt.
