Thank you so much. I really appreciate the warm welcome.

Is your presence on the Forum to evangelize Pentaxians to mirrorless shooters or just to be a "Jeremiah" and correct the errors of our ways? I'm a bit unclear... ;)[/quote]

Thanks so much for the kind words. I completely agree, the K1 / K1 II isn't for everyone, just like the Sony and Fujifilm's aren't for me. As long as people find a camera that feels like an extension of themselves it's all good. The experience of photography is a huge thing for me. Working in the field with my own photography business, and in the photography journalism business with the Phoblographers means taking photos for fun can seem like a chore at times. It is hard to mix a hobby and a business interest as the burn out is real, but no matter what, I enjoy using the K1 II so much that i get up at crazy hours to go and shoot for fun again now. I enjoy picking the camera up every time, and that feeling is priceless.

I won't be selling the K1 II any time soon. I finally have found another camera that I enjoy using and I plan on it being with me for many, many years. Also...I do enjoy shooting film, and do so regularly with my K1000. ;)

You have summed this up perfectly! I couldn't have said it better myself. You're absolutely right, photography is about creating images, but the journey to the image is what's important. In my review of the K1 II on the Phoblographer I even state this in the review. How the K1 II is a camera that forces you to slow down, and that it allows you to enjoy the whole experience that photography has to offer. That's incredibly important to me, and to many others, and while Mirrorless cameras are packed with pretty impressive AI, and they can indeed help you snap images at a rapid pace, it takes away from the experience, almost like they remove the magic. Maybe that sounds crazy; it's certainly how it makes me feel though. I'm thankful I have found a camera i'm able to connect with in the K1 II. Thanks so much for taking the time to understand the message I was trying to convey in the article. I really appreciate that.

Ahh perfect! Love stories like yours. It's an amazing feeling when a camera speaks to you isn't it? People always think i'm crazy when I tell them there is a bond between a photographer and their gear, and they couldn't understand why I couldn't settle with Sony and Fujifilm. Like with you, the K1 series spoke to me almost instantly. It's just a feeling. It's amazing really. I totally agree about the image quality. Images are delightful from the K1 and the K1 II. When I first used the 77mm 1.8 limited on my K1 II and saw the images, I was completely floored! Gorgeous images. Reminded me very much of film days. Also the D FA 28-105mm is a fantastic lens, I use that lens a lot. Would love to see some of your images,

The D FA 150-450mm and the K1 II blow me when away when it comes to the amount of detail they can resolve. I wish I could share the high res version so you can see all the detail. Thanks for the kind words.

Hahaha thanks mate. I'm used to it. I get questioned about my choices and preferences every day due to working in the industry. It cracks me up. You're right. I have used just about every camera out there thanks to my job, and the Pentax is the one that has won me over. Looking forward to getting to know you guys.

Oh I agree. New cameras do not result in better pictures at all, but having a camera you're comfortable with will certainly go a long way to making the experience much more enjoyable, which in turn will likely inspire the user to shoot more often, which will likely lead to the photographer making better images :) It's awesome you have kept the camera so long. For me 5.5 years is my max for one camera (Canon 5D II).

---------- Post added 05-28-19 at 02:50 PM ----------

Same here. I shoot with people who use all brands, and just like your friends, they all get great shots. Really any modern camera is capable of producing beautifully detailed images, and they can all render gorgeous colors, at the end of the day it just comes down to what feels best to you in the hand, and what system has the lenses that you want to use. I capture wildlife images too, along with landscapes for fun. On the business side of things I shoot portraits, and do a lot of corporate work. The K1 II hasn't let me down. Shooting with it is a joy.

Hahaha, Yeah that's some quick switching for sure. Makes me look like I was going backwards . It is really quite apparent when you pick up a camera and use it for just a short while if it is going to be right for you though. There is nothing wrong with playing the camera field, especially when you consider how much money in future investments (lenses etc) will likely be made. Every time I switched I sold my previous gear so that it wasn't a huge strain financially. The Sony's and Fujifilm cameras are great, they just aren't for me though. Glad I landed on Pentax's doorstep. Thanks for sharing your trip, hope you enjoyed reading about mine in the article.

Had a blast capturing this Prairie Dog in southern Oklahoma over the weekend. He was having quite the time with his buds. I got down on the floor to be at his level, and he just sat there, watching me while eating grass. Love the amount of detail the K1 II and the 150-450 captured.

You can ask me any questions you like if it will help stopping the wondering. After 17 years with Canon I knew pretty early on the other two systems weren't for me. You're right, there is no perfect camera, but the K1 II is the perfect camera for me, even if it isn't for other people. :)

---------- Post added 05-28-19 at 01:01 PM ----------

It's understandable really. As a writer in the photography field, I have people questioning my preferences, and likes day in and day out so I am used to it. All's well that ends well though. I haven't been this happy, nor have I been so invigorated in regards to my photography in a long time. The K1 II had brought the joy back.

I can assure you, i'm not that guy. I just knew fairly early on in my time with Sony and Fujifilm that they weren't for me. 17 years with one brand otherwise.

Thanks for sharing the link to my recent article. Much appreciated. As for going through systems fairly quickly, I was able to tell the other systems (Fujifilm and Sony) weren't for me pretty early on. I simply know what I like personally in camera systems and those two just didn't fit what I needed. As soon as the K1 II was in my hands though I knew it was the one for me. Hope you enjoyed the read.

Why are FF images so much more pleasing than APS-C?

The difference is not as pronounced as it used to be. APS-C cameras are incredible machines these days. I am a gear reviewer for a large website and get to play with, and get to review all the latest and greatest, and really it can be hard to tell formats apart unless you really pixel peep now. At the end of the day shoot with what makes you happy. All formats have the pros and cons, and if you are shooting professionally you'll know that your client doesn't care what camera was used. It's only our selves and other photographers who care about that, and even then the difference can be hard to see.

Here are three images. One is APS-C (Fujifilm X-T3), one is Full Frame (Pentax K1 II), and one is Medium Format (Fujifilm GFX 50R) that I have captured. Can you tell the difference without looking at EXIF?

Just got my hands on this bad boy yesterday. I got to use it for a short while in-between storms that were rolling through Oklahoma. Sharp as a knife, even at 450mm. Colors right out of camera are fantastic too. I took this shot for a blog post of mine over at thepentaxpioneer.com. The lens can certainly be used handheld and I nailed some good shots with it that way, but it really sings when it is placed on a tripod. I used it with my Fotopro Eagle Series EGL-65 and gimbal head. I cannot wait to get out and use it some more.

Here's another from my graduation shoot the other day at Oklahoma State University. The D FA 28-105mm f3.5-56 is a great lens. Far beyond what kit lenses used to be. The eyes in this image are tack sharp. It took a few attempts to get this shot, and I ended up being covered in sequins, but it was so worth it! Such a fun shoot. I wrote about this shoot over on my blog The Pentax Pioneer.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate the feedback. I am so impressed with that lens. A little soft at 1.8 but at 2.2 it's sharp enough to cut! I had a blast on this shoot.

Had my first photo shoot with the K1 II the other day. A graduation shoot for a student at Oklahoma State University. I used the FA 77mm f1.8 Limited, and a Flashpoint XPLOR 400 PRO in a 30" Softbox. Loved this combo for portraits. I was able to capture so many amazing images during the shoot. Cannot wait to share more with you guys.

Ahh the GR II is a great little camera. I have used one many times. I think you made a great choice. Small world! Yeah Brighton is a great town. Lots of history and nightlife! The pier..you wouldn't recognize it now. It has been turned into a theme park. Roller coasters out in the ocean! Crazy times.
