Any reason *not* to use Winder on my ME Super?

If you don't want lots of noises, wind the camera first and put the winder on while it is turned off. With most winders you have to remove the winder only after a full cycle. If the roll ends half way through a wind, finish the cycle after rewinding and before removing it from the body. The same goes for Nikon and Canon.
I find that the winder helps me use more film. Some people feel that the fast winding is harder on the mechanism, but I never had a problem with the motor on my Super Program or my MX.
I am sure I shot hundreds of rolls on both cameras.

Will this focusing screen fit in the k-70?

I suspect the focusing error bart86 sees is caused by the tab being on the wrong side so you put the focusing screen in "upside down". The smooth side should go down, the split image wedges go up.

Will this focusing screen fit in the k-70?

Those cameras have the front tab on the right as viewed from the front. The k-70 has the tab on the left. If you don't mind cutting the tab off, it will work. The smoother side of the focusing screen goes down. I see things advertised on ebay that claim to be for the newer cameras but show the tab on the right. I don't know if it is an old picture or the screen is wrong. I recently got a screen with the regular horizontal split image and cut the tab off.

K70 aperture block?

I'm sure that part of the issue is reviews that someone keeps posting in the Pentax reviews at B&H. If you look at the silver K-70 reviews almost all are five star. The one single star review says nothing about the camera. It just says many Pentax cameras have this failure. A surprising/dismaying number of people found the review useful. Somebody, probably the same guy, posts the same stuff for every APS-C model. My guess is that K-50 cameras with serial number that start with 4 are way more prone to the problem. Second batch K-50 cameras and other models have failures at what would be considered a normal rate but because of the early K-50 cameras people are scared. It is very difficult to know what percentage of cameras have an issue by looking at forums etc.

Opinions on FA 200mm f2.8 with Canon 77mm 500D Close Up adapter for Macro work?

The 500D close-up lens is a doublet. That is two lenses of different refractive indexes cemented together. It is the best quality you can get in a close-up lens. I have always had good results with this kind of lens but have not used it on the lens you are asking about.

Commenting on Digitalis' comment, my recollection is that temperature should be within 1/4 degree F and many labs were sloppy. I developed most of the E-6 myself or sent it to Kodak (when the Kodak labs were directly owned by Kodak- a US issue) or a place called A&I in the LA area. There aren't many choices right now.

What Is Up With K1000 Prices?

The Ming Camera Company in China bought the tooling for the K1000 and made cameras with LED light meters. Used ones are supposed to be not that unusual in China. Too bad they stopped making them before demand came back. I got my black one with brown leather and lens for $60 on ebay. They are supposed to commonly sell in China closer to the "luxury" price of $100.

It sounds like a (P)Z-1 with AF upgrade that would work with the newest lenses would do the job. And 1/250 flash synch.

Can't recommend Eric any longer

As far as complaining about "simply not having parts on hand" you have to realize that you can't buy the parts new from anywhere. If he doesn't have the parts and can't get them, why would he bother doing anything with the camera. Parts cameras can be a good source, but there are some parts that are the ones that fail ( like K1000 prisms). Also, assuming that if you are good enough you should spend time trying to fix the camera. Unlike ctrout, Eric only gets paid if he fixes the camera. If it is going to take too long to make the repair it is also not worth it for him. It doesn't make sense for him to make less than minimum wage.
That being said, at least there seem to more places to get old and new Pentaxes repaired now.

Early Spotmatic lenses

All Spotmatics can use any M42 Takumar 50mm 1.4. All Pentax/Takumar 50mm 1.4 lenses stick out farther than other companys' rear elements. Older cameras are the ones that can be a problem. I think green is go. Hopefully no repairman swapped rewind knobs.

That isn't a fix but a replace parts scenario. If you send it in, they will replace parts. Probably not economical as The Squirrel Mafia has suggested.

K1000 shutter/mirror issue below 1/60 sec

Below 1/60 shutter speeds are governed by a separate mechanism. Your slow speed governor most likely has dry lubrication or corrosion. It is between the bottom of the mirror box and the body casting. If you remove the three screws that hold the battery contact into place and pull it up you can kind of see it.

What's the Fastest Lens You Own?

I use 1.4 lenses for theatrical photography. I avoid using them wide open because of microscopic depth of field. An 85mm 1.4 even at 15 feet gives pretty small depth of field. It is useful when there is no other choice.
