Isn't this just part of the wonderful world of optics, Heinrich?
The 08 is so well corrected for CAs and distortion, surely you'll have to forgive it for minor indiscretions :)
Plus, it's beautifully sharp, and your pictures show that. Thanks.

The Q7 starts up in around 1 second. So nothing different there.
Don't know about the SR system, even though I find the Q7's more than acceptable.

K-3 good for video?

Probably auto everything is the way to go for home movies.
There is no "quality" setting, but there are Full HD and HD sizes if you need to consider file size.
Frame rate is something to consider as well. Personally I'd avoid the 50/60i setting.
Although there are claims that it is better for smooth motion, I found it very ordinary.
24/25/30 fps at 1080p gives the best quality per frame.
Also, your lens choice should be one with the widest aperture, especially indoors.

Is there any live view image? More of an inquiry than anything.
It seems to be a 'return to base' asap.

K3 Crazy Mirror Sickness (Mirror Flapping Lockup) - Report Yours Here!

Better count me also.
One mirror craziness about 3 months back during quite warm weather.
Battery removal remedy. Worked fine for rest of shoot.
Plus, I've had a couple of lock ups since that required battery removal.
I get the feeling they're related, but obviously don't actually know that.
Hoping a firmware update is the fix.

Good work Amy - feel for you when you get knocked, plus having to explain yourself constantly.

Eye-Fi 16GB Deal - Worth it?

The Pro Eye-Fi cards are the best they offer, with all the bells and whistles turned on.
As to price, it looks ok, but I haven't shopped around.

Plus, you can also adjust shutter speed and iso, dependent on shooting mode.

So does K3 actually have a brushless motor?

Don't know about brushless or not, but I do have one of the noisiest af lenses out there - the Pentax F 1.7 50 - and it sounds almost sophisticated on the K-3. Very smooth, and fast!

On the K-01 it sounds like a bucket of bolts being shaken around.
On the K-5 it's just rough sounding.
On the K-7, very rough and slow.
On the K-x, rough and slow.

Thinking on it, it may be a better gear train, if not a brushless motor for the K-3.

As does the *istD.

Although its TIFFs are based on the in-camera jpeg - not good.

Don't know how later models do the TIFF conversion.

Error Message:'No eye-Fi card inserted in SD2 slot'

There was a post about this before - can't remember where, but I think it's more just the way it is.

The card still works, so it's possibly an interface thing.

Maybe it's like Eye-Fi cards in K-5s etc - no recognition, but they still do their thing.

The quote that the K-5 is no better than the K-7 is wrong - way off the mark.

There's a whole lot more shadow detail in the K-5 and of course native 1080p.

To me it renders better than the K-01 also.

I, for one, will be very surprised if live view via tablet or such will actually be live - as in live motion.

Just think of the bits and bytes that have to be pushed out. If it does show live motion, I believe it will be very choppy and/or low resolution.

I reckon you'll have to push a button every time you want live view updated, even with stills.

I will be very, very happy to be proven wrong though.

Ha! Paul. That's exactly who I'm talking about. I bought a 16-50 directly for CRK, and he did not like it!

Maybe he's trying to punish me, because my name's on one of his stock to be.

I've been going to Kirk's since it was - err, Kirk's! If you know what I mean. ;)

EDIT: Hans is still at Kirks btw - just spoke to him the other day.
