24-70 is a staple, events get crowded, you'll be in tight spaces unless you're always late then you'll be at the back... you'll be wide to moderate tele so the 24-70 2.8 has you covered. Dont go all primes as a journalist, you need flexibility...maybe one fast med/wide prime later.

Its funny you mentioned that, i use to get so much crap over at POTN about the 7D in low light action scenarios, Pentax had nothing at that time so i jumped to FF with 1Dx and 7D users gave me more flak lol, the 7D2 wasnt any better...if i didnt want fps i woyld have jumped back to the K3II.

If you have a nice collection of Pentax lenses stay with Pentax that said not knowing how or what you shoot, stay with a DSLR unless the size is causing you IMMENSE pain.

It has character, something akin to how some would describe a CCD vs a CMOS captured image ... a intangible feature.

For what you want to do, you already have gear that will do it for you? You don't need a new camera.😱

Heh, I have the same but with a 150 since college but for table top stuff. It would be much easy to use a field cam for the field :p hiking with a mono rail isn't impossible but will be challenging something you'll soon find out besides for landscape field work you don't really need the full range of movements a mono rail offers.
That said enjoy your new tool.
BTW I paid ~$1000 cad new for what was considered entry level in the range paid almost as much for the dam lense too but got a lot if use out if the setup, the only thing I never bother with was putting on the measurement stickers, yes I know people are "gasping" :p but I managed :)
I lost the alu case when i lent it out so i was given this makeshift trunk as a replacement :p *posted from my phone in bed so didn't have a chance till now to get a image :)
The monster this sits on is a manfrotto 475 (geared column with a monster manfrotto geared head *400*?...no pics it's somewhere in the garage of antiquities, i should get a tri dolly to move it around) |

Oh? i thought i might have seen you there but i went in early and there were a lot of people, i actually didn't see anyone from the last outing but they had quite a few X Photographers most from Fuji Tuesday which i've never been able to go to, they will have the new releases on hand too....Spencer Wynn i didn't get a chance to chat with ... i actually have the flu so didn't want to spread the love and left early after trying the the pro 2, 90 and 100-400.
BUT there are so many new releases this year and i need to get a DSLR system for my TT shooting...thinking of the D5 + D500 with 3 zooms...waiting to see Pentax's FF and what Canon might show but will probably go with Nikon mostly because of AF and FPS;)
If there are other future Fujifilm events, i'll drop you a text. https://flic.kr/s/aHsktc1dZW *low res images* |

I usually take just my X100 , so that's a 23/ 35mm FF so if you have wider than that 35 take that.
That said you'll make do with whatever you carry.

Hi, you have found one a subject which the XT 10 with no AA filter ..."MOIRE" Moiré effect is a visual perception that occurs when viewing a set of lines or dots that is superimposed on another set of lines or dots, where the sets differ in relative size, angle, or spacing.
It can be easily fixed with any "descreening" plug-in found in most editing software.

I gifted my entire system to someone who will use it to better the world (i dunno)
no more 1Dx
no more 5D3
no more 70-200 2.8 LII
no more 24-70 2.8 L
no more 300 L 4.0
all housed in an international roller...not much but enough to shoot most things.
...let's see what Pentax has
as of now i just have Fujifilm X gear but short on lenses (35, 18-55 and 14) deciding if to just stop right there or jump right in with their Holy Grail of zooms, XF10-24, 16-55 and 50-140 and call it a day.
