I did NOT say it was a Chinese invention!
I said "Chinese's model" which is very strict and indiscriminately social distancing people, I favor more on Taiwan's model which focus more on early prevention combine with focusing on distancing only those coming from contagion area/countries for a period of time to make sure they are not sick.

me too using the SD card reader.

Maybe check if the USB slot is damaged? Try different cables on different devices. if it works on different devices but not on your camera, then it is not the cable problem.
Also, I sometimes have problems with USB3 slot after installing updates for windows 10. But USB 2 slots always work. So if you sure it is not the camera, not the cable then it could be USB driver on your computer is messed up or something. Reinstall the USD driver might help.

Most of our government is reacting too slow at the beginning and when we react, we are using the Chinese model. It seems to be the most effective way we can do now.
No one really knows what is going to work for real, but extreme social distancing seems to help control the spread in China ... according to who? according to the data from Chinese government!
Wait...are we forget already they (the government not the people) are heavily manipulating the data that's why we are in trouble now. But what else we can really do now. I can not think of any model works without a mix of social distancing. Maybe once some horse got out, the best next thing to do is close the barn door to safe whatever left.
I wish our government listen to Taiwan from the beginning. We wouldn't need this level of social distancing if we lock the barn door from the very beginning as Taiwan did. Will we learn anything after this? I hope we do.

Since I usually post photo update one every 2-3 days on my Instagram page. But I can not go out to take new photo, So my Coronavirus project is to add shooting location to the old photos and re-post them on my Instagram page. Check it out If you plan to go to Tokyo in the future. It can be helpful because they are pinpoint location on Google map. With Phone GPS, you waste no time search for it. I start with a series of free to enter tall building in Tokyo. It is currently at #2, and I have more than 10 places to-go for the first series.

I did my own small timeline data collection comparing between SARS and COVID-19 last month because I need it to make some other decision. And it supports what you said.
Here are what I found, 2002 - 2004 SARS cases peeks around the end of April 2003. And it is a kind of weakening when the weather gets warmer. By June 13, 2003, WHO began to relax its non-essential travel recommendation to areas in China which I mark it as the end of SARS global concern because thing rapidly get better and it was not a jump in new cases to report after that point. Don't get me wrong, it was still a concern but you know, it was not like concern concern any more!

BUT.. Now I see COVID-19 keep going and going. It is about the end of April now, and we have what? +2 million infected. We might be witnessing COVID-19 peek right now and I can only fingers cross it will show sign of weakness in the coming month.

Many more thing came up from that timeline comparison if anyone interesting to read.
I will mark the day CCP tells WHO about a mysterious out brake in China as Day 1.
Note that, It is not really the first day to begin with but no-one know when is the real beginning anyway.

It took 62 days in 2003 for Canadian researchers to announce the first successful sequencing of the coronavirus genome.
But it takes only 13 days for Chinese researchers to do the same this time. The Chinese researchers are either very very ... very fast or ... you know, ... CCP give them more time to study or COVID-19 genome is similar to its earlier sibling so it is easier to be cracked.

It took WHO 34 days to issue SARS global outbreak alert compared to 31 days for COVID-19 but A big difference is in the details. WHO seems to criticize countries imposed early travel restriction as overreacting this time when COVID-19 cases surpass 10,000 globally only a day after WHO issue the out brake alert, compared to 150 SARS cases confirmed at the time.

It took WHO 72 days to declare the global COVID-19 outbreak a Pandemic while SARS had never gotten to the Pandemic status.

It took 75 days for SARS to reach its peak or 8.4K cumulative cases worldwide.
75 days for COVID-19 is a Sunday picnic. We surpass 150,000 cases globally on 75 day mark.
80 days, we get 200,000 cases globally.
83 days, we get 300,000 cases globally.
87 days, we get 500,000 cases globally.
94 days, we cross 1 million cases globally.
97 days, we get 1.5 million cases globally.
104 days, we pass 2 million mark and continue.

Note, the information above is just my personal data collecting things on a weekend. Don't take it too seriously and forgive me if you find mistakes.

Social distancing? Some... many Japanese say \_(ツ)_/
I do a grocery shopping 1 a week because our place is smaller, the refrigerator's size is smaller too. And every time I go out, I see the park full of parents and kids running around... what a happy day. Below are another 2 recent news. Most Businesses seems to listen to the government but smaller ones still open and some people as see in the news are definitely not doing it. Don't be surprised if Japan comes out of this pandemic the last.

I am not trying to talk you out of getting a Pentax but from your list above, I feel like a good phone camera can be a better choice?

I am telling it from my experience hosting photo walk and meet with a handful of people just get the first DSLR to replace a very good camera they already have on hand, Phone. I also meet with many good phone photographer and I can tell that Phone now a day can do many amazing things and you can definitely learn photography using a phone.
DSLR is fantastic only if you can spend time with it.

As for getting a Pentax, and looking for "autofocus" performance for DSLR beginner. I think anything after K5 will do the job. K5 is not a bad camera but its autofocus can be tricky sometimes.
If you don't want something heavy, stay away from the flagship body like K5, K3, K1. They are heavy in exchange for superb built quality. if you are unsure you will be hooked on to the DSLR but you can spend some $$$, a second hand newer model like KP might be a good choice because you can resell it without losing too much. I would say 2-3 months is enough to know that.

One small success...maybe too soon to call it is a success but definitely something to learn from them.
One thing the News in the video didn't mention is the physical size of the island which is 35,980 sq km for the population size of around 23.5 million people.
For better comparison, they are 29.42% the size of New York State which is approximately 122,283 sq km with population of around 19.4 million people.
Taiwan has 393 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 6 people have died. Despite millions of people travel between the island and the mainland China every year, including 2.7 million visitors from the mainland last year. They lean to see what information to take into early consideration and when to act to protect themselves.

As of Japan, I wish they can do more, but they can not do aggressive social distancing like in many country because of their constitution won't allow it. The total infected is 7,370 and 123 dead as of today. Japan has officially tested only 77,381 people, maybe that's why (i think) it is not that high compares to Europe and US. Concerning how many people come and go from Japan - China during the international new year to Chinese new year holiday (the periods when we know something bad happening in China but before WHO make it an official pandemic) Which I think it should be a lot higher for the number of infected in Japan.

Good thing about Japan is, people listen to their government. Trust them or not it doesn't matter. When the PM say, (i don't have a law to force you but) you should not go out, large shopping mall in big city should close on weekend, etc, people and businesses listen and do it.

Interesting seeing people over there still argue about wearing mask while many country in East Asia take it as a no brainier to Wear mask when go out right now.

Take Taiwan as an example. They has one of the, if not the best system to control the spread of the virus "without" having to do the lockdown thing like in China. Many wonder why and try to learn from them.

They have done many things including restrictions on people from China at the very early stages of the out break. I still remember WHO and China said they're overreacting back then! lol, overreacting? Look at now.

Anyway back to the Mask or no-Mask for general public things. Any one can Google what Taiwanese has been doing to control the spread and you will find evey article mentions about wearing mask culture and ofcause watching hands. This is an article i found from a quick search.

Lessons from Taiwan's experience with COVID-19 - Atlantic Council

"In Taiwanese society, wearing a mask is part of a normal lifestyle. It is even more common for sick people to wear a mask. However, during this period of crisis, the demand for masks,..."

In Japan, I am still very... Very sceptic of a very low numbers of infected people here compared to number of those in N.America and Europe where there's no wearing mask in public culture.
Japan is very close to China and a lot of tourists coming from and to China every day before the outbreak, but number of dead from Virus won't lie. It is still a lot lower. I guess mask wearing culture in Japan must have an important role in keeping the infected as low as what it is.

The Chinese head of the team that works in Wuhan during the lockdown said in interview I read some week ago saying the same about the importance of wearing mask in public.

To me I need no more samples group to do a research on this. Neither we have time to do a research right now. What the Taiwanese doing seems to work well. They wear masks, they use home made mask if they can not buy one. I have no problem following whatever works in the real world for million of people over there.
If you can not find a mask, make your own and make a few more for your love ones. Add air filter between layers. (Vacuum cleaner bag?) Watch hands often too.

And I thought we (they) learned (anything?).
Who knows, next pandemic we might have something as easy to infected as COVID-19 + airborne + as deadly as Ebola. And some people higher up in the government over there will do their best to suppress those speak out (again) in an early stage of the outbreak so the local and international communities can get to enjoy the pandemic...again..right? :hmm:

The next time I hear an outbreak rummer, I will take it as 100% true and start stock up the toilet paper, face mask and hand sanitize for real!!!

I am listing to many podcasts during working hours and one thing I notice is many podcasts form the US often say something like; A mask does not help the general public. or Only sick people should wear a mask, if you not sick you don't have to ware. Don't buy a mask because doctors and nurses need them. etc. I am 100% agree with the last one but not the first. At lase it preventing you from touching your face with hands when you go out. I ware mask when go out all the time right now. Don't rely on other people to cover their face with a mask, they might not even know they are sick.

Anyway if you want to make a mask video below show how to make one. Consider adding some kind of filter between the fabrics using (clean) vacuum cleaner bag too. Make a socket for the filter so you can watch the mask then put a new filter in it for next use.

Limiteds - DA 21 or DA 70 as my next lens? As a treat to myself...

I am thinking of getting a 70 too. I just let my 100wr go and want to replace it with DA70 because of its size and weight. I hope I make the right decision. [fingers crossed]

21 or 70 for street?
I mostly do night urban street photography and 21 is one of my most used lenses.. As for you it very much depends on where you shoot and your shooting style. I used to have FA35, F28 and still have K28 f3.5. I hardly use them for what I like to do. I am on K3, by the way.
In an Urban setting on my street: 28, 35 mm are not long enough when I want to stay in a distance. 50-55 is perfect for that.
They are not wide enough to capture everything when I want to show a sense of scale because urban buildings are tall, some alley is really really narrow, etc. 20 or 21 and 15 or 10-17 are better for the job. Therefore, 90% of my street in an urban setting are done with 21 and 55 mm.

So if your street is similar to my street, and your style is similar to my style, I would go with 21 then 70 later.
If I have 16-45, 24, 30, 35 like your, I would only keep the 35 and/or whatever have an aperture ring for time-lap photography, then get either 20-40 wr + 70 or 21 + 70.

My 0.2$
