The pz1 has an awesome sounding shutter, and while older, it feels much more robust than the zx series. It has the same if not better features. I believe it isn't prone to the mirror gear failure of some of the zx cameras. The only downsides are bulk and expensive battery (but it lasts long)

I also liked my zx-l when I had it

Any camera that allows you to manually set the iso will allow to push/pull. Worst case, you can hack the canisters with your own code, never done but it seems pretty simple. What's not like the mechanical k1000 is battery free operation, but I've run out of batteries only once in the field despite always having a spare (or because....:))

The op does have a point, Pentax isn't all that present at big expos.

I think that's fine with at least some of their customers. I for one would love to attend a local fan event similar to what they've done in Japan and Europe, but I'd never consider buying a ticket for one of these expos. Plus as a brand you get much cooler social media presence with fan events and photo walks, as opposed to awkward noisy recordings from expos that all end up looking the same.

Suggestions for a camera case that'll fit the K3 + Sigma ART 18-35 + O-ME53 eyecup?

Since you want this in your current backpack, you could try a camera bag insert. I have a tenba BYOB 9, for reference it fits my k3ii and da 16-85 with lots of room to spare both in length and height (enough actually for 1-2 more lenses... So perhaps the BYOB 7 is better fitted for your kit plus batteries, filters, etc

I actually use the insert with my hiking backpack, for day to day I have a think tank perception backpack that has camera pouches plus room for other stuff and a laptop.

B&W Developer starter kits

I use liquid ilford chemicals because it's simpler (dd-x developer, stop bath and rapid fixer) and a 1 roll paterson tank. If you plan to develop at least 6 rolls of film, it's more cost effective to get the chemicals separately, here I see a kit for two rolls of 35mm (if you have a double tank) costs $17.

The other tools don't have to be expensive or dedicated to photo processing, though I'm sure they're more convenient. All my measuring tools are for the kitchen, which I've now repurposed: 15ml measuring spoon, a couple pint glasses (the tank takes 300ml), a graduated pitcher and a steak thermometer. I've been considering getting a bag, but I've gotten used to using a (bath)room with no windows, though you have to be careful to check for light leaks if there's still light outside... less of a concern in this season in the evening.

As others have said above, practice loading the reel, the rest is pretty simple, I'm far from an expert but the learning curve was for the first few tries and now after three years it's become more or less automatic. I use massive dev chart to check how my developer pairs with the film I'm shooting, water temperature, dilution, and push/pull https://www.digitaltruth.com/devchart.php

I've found that either a drop of liquid soap, or kodak photo-flo if you want the proper stuff, is effective to avoid drying marks, just add it with the last wash.

The other day another hiker says "that's a dope camera" about my k3ii+16-85, which I use attached with a peak design capture clip to my backpack. Not the first time I get positive comments on the trail about the k3ii, not that I see that many photographers hiking with cameras in winter either. Not exactly on topic...

Some websites need their clicks.... Unless it's a press release (or reported at a level of trust/reputation that tech news don't rise to) all these rumors are really easy to come up with, just pick any brand and any fact as long as it's negative or absurdly good. Remember the one about Pentax shutting down that prompted ricoh to release an official statement?

Sigma cameras, and especially the merrill series, cost quite a bit on the used market (about $450 for a dp2 merrill, which was introduced for $1000 in 2012). That's surprising to me, at least for a niche camera. Looks like others are also excited for them too :)

A couple night shots in the rain (walking with an umbrella, and I also had a protective filter and the ga-1 adapter). I've recently changed my street setup to have the default focus as snap (before it was AF+full press snap), and the Fn button to AF (before it was snap distance). I am shooting in snap mode 90% of the time, so this way AF is more deliberate than a half press, before I'd sometimes AF by accident.
OOC jpegs with grain simulation at high iso.... plus minor tweaks in darktable
