Thank you. I guess once I get more experience shooting different types I will learn to see the differences. Since I have fallen down the rabbit hole I am sure I will be trying lots of types :)

Thanks.

I am sure if I end shooting a lot of film I will want to start processing my own negatives but until then I will leave it to the lab. I sent mine to The Darkroom in California, which took a while from the East Coast but was a good price for what they offered.

Thank you! It was a lot of fun and in some ways relieving not having to do post processing and worrying about all the added technology. I am hooked and just got done shooting a roll of Tri-X from Easter weekend.

I did shoot about 10-12 shots before I realized that the retract wheel wasn't moving as I was cocking the shutter. So I opened it and I didn't load the film well as it was still at the beginning...Ooops.

Yes it was HP5+. How could you tell?

Tamron 17-50 is a nice lens. Its on my camera most of the time. Highly recommend, can't beat that constant 2.8.

I paid just under $200 for mine shipped from Japan.

I did have my Samsung Nx camera do some weird things to a few pictures before. It only did it a few times and I still use the same card with my K50 and never had an issues with it. I sold the Nx before I dug into it more.

For my daughters 2 year party I found my 17-50 was the best for indoors along with a cactus flash mounted on the hot show to bounce it off the ceiling and walls.

K50 ISO and aperture flashing red at me

If this was the problem it would also do it outdoors.

Bump up the ISO and lower your aperture. At the current settings it cant get a proper exposure. Your ISO ceiling is probably set at 3200 so the camera wont increase it past that.

Craigslist find, K1000 with 50 1.7 for $45 in excellent shape. My first film camera. My parents had a Rebel in the 90's that I took pics with occasionally when I was a kid so this will be fun now that I know a lot more about photography.

How do you store your images

1.) Insert SD card into Mac SD slot
2.) Open appropriate iPhoto library for the occasion of the pictures (event, destination, landscape, random, etc)
3.) Import all new photos into correct library into an event named more specific to the pictures.
4.) Remove SD card without erasing imported photos.
5.) Go through and delete any bad photos (missed focus, pick the best out of duplicates, ones that can not be saved)
6.) Open any that I want to edit in Affinity Photo.
7.) Edited photos get saved as JPG and Affinity extension and exported to appropriate folder.
8.) All photos are saved on 1 external hard drive (in iPhoto libraries), 1 external solid state drive (in iPhoto libraries) and internal computer hard drive (in iPhoto libraries). Original RAWs are also kept on SD cards.
