Hi TaoMaas, any idea why the K-01 (and this includes my other cameras like K-3 as well)'s videos have kind of artifacts even though I am shooting in relatively good lights indoor? I have also bought a Canon M50 and under the same light, the canon does not have this issue. Is this attributed to the bitrate of the K-01?

Good video Ron. Could you share your K-01 settings and aperture/ISO for this video? Thanks!

Thanks for all the tips on pre-planning and storyboarding. I will take note.

Assuming I need to film a scene that requires more accurate focusing, would stopping the lens down help at all given that the K1 cannot auto focus during video? I just want to make sure that all the frames are sharp if possible.

Also I kept seeing people saying that K-01 bitrate is too low. My understanding is that K-01 records in 25Mbps thereabout? and I read elsewhere that youtube just need something like 8Mbps?

What is the limitation of K-01 for youtube videos? If the limitation is really that bad, I will just abandon the idea of using K-01 altogether.

Any thoughts?

Hi all, my K-01 is not getting a lot of use these days. I shot mainly with my K-3. Wifey is now taking an interest in making cooking videos and I wanted to help as much as I can.

The longer term solution the way I see it is to buy a better camera optimized for video (I have the Canon 200D in sight) but I thought hey why not give the K-01 a try?

This is the shooting condition:
1) camera mounted on tripod on extension column via super clamp.
2) No sound
3) External lighting via LED lights, etc

The main issue with the K-01 is that it does not continuous AF during video mode and when i press the AF button, the AF hunts a bit and this is distracting for the viewer.

So I would like to ask what are the tips of using the K-01 in this manner?

Thanks

Wow. That was awesome information. Many thanks for doing this for me. This is much appreciated.

I think I have a clear picture what this clamp is all about. I will get one unit on ebay.

Thanks again!!

Thanks. That is certainly beyond my budget. What do you think of the ebay one I posted. I understand it is not a C-stand per se but what do you think of its suitability?

Thanks. I am now searching for the super clamp you mentioned. It appears the manfrotto super clamp is to clamp onto a "rod" of some sort? I cant seem to find a version that is intended to go on the tripod on manfrotto website.

Edit: Is this the one you are referring to? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Manfrotto-035B-Super-Clamp/351943436197?epid=140...itleDesc=0%7C0

That is a great idea. I don't have a monopod at the moment but I could remove the centre columns of several of my other tripods and am wondering if these kind of clamps can be adapted to clamping the centre columns?

Thanks for that. I found this one on ebay.
Universal Tripod Boom Camera Extension Arm Foldable Studio Macro shooting TK104

Quite similar to the C-stand you are referring to? Any thoughts?

Hello all pentaxians, haven't posted for a long time. Hope you guys can help me out here.

Wifey is getting into food videos. I am searching for a tripod setup with a horizontal extension column so that the camera can be mounted directly over the food to allow a top-down video shoot. I have checked the Manfrotto range but just wondering if you guys have any recommendation for something similar?

Thanks!

I have also just installed the trial version of ACDSEE Photo ultimate 18. I think the software looks promising and has lens profile although missing some lenses such as the 35mm macro. Overall I think the editing is less intuitive than lightroom but i have only started to play with it so will explore further.

Thanks. I now looked into the G85 and GX85 and watch a few youtube videos. I think the G85 is a bit bigger but the GX85 looks impressive.

Now the decision is even harder!

Seeing this is a thread for On1 Photo Raw, I hope I can ask a question here. I have been trialing Photoraw 2017.

On lightroom when i adjust the white and black, I press the shift key to see how much I can adjust. I cannot figure out how to do this in On1. Any tips please?

I am just catching up on this thread.

Apart from Capture One which is deem a worthy alternative to LR, which others are also worth looking into?

How about the latest ACDSEE? this looks promising although I am not sure if this supports the lens profile from pentax.

We don't have any lenses yet. Need to confirm which body to go for first. Wpresto mentioned the 12-100mm oly lens. I might also look into that one for an AIO travel lens.

Thanks. EM10 II is AUD739. the EM10 I with 14-42 kit lens is AUD619. The EM10 II is also still just tilt screen.

There are now a few recommendations for the EM10 II so I will look into this even closer. Thanks.

Thanks guys. We quite like the EM-10. Seem cheaper than the E-P5 also. The EM-10 screen does not swivel which is kinda disappointing.

Hi all, my wife has been using a Samsung NX Mini for travel and 6 months ago the lens go kaput. I am disappointed with Samsung and would never buy their camera again.

I would like to buy an M43 compact mirrorless for wifey and had wanted the olympus ones since these have body IS. but there are so many models to choose from and this is making our decision very difficult.

Some of the things we wanted:

1. Body stabilization
2. Tilt screen (if the screen can rotate in such a way that we can do selfie, and rotate in such an angle we can shoot at low level and high level that will be great)
3. compact

Would be wanting to pair this with a pancake wide angle lens and a standard zoom.

Recommendations appreciated.

Thanks Tony. I think I have tried something along that line previously but the settings not really stick.

I looked deeper into the link Digitalis indicated earlier and I found this app called "StopResettingMyApps". I downloaded that and it seems to work! fingers crossed. There is a new windows update tonight so tomorrow I should know if the settings work.

Here's the link in case anyone is interested -> Stop resetting my apps

Thanks Digitalis. I will try the link that you posted. I have edited the registry before using some hacks someone else posted but it does not stick long term. Maybe windows updates which come every now and then breaks the thing.

I will try again.

Windows 10 kept resetting pictures file to photo app

Hi guys, I have had faststone viewer installed as the preferred app to view photos quickly and determine which ones i can delete immediately before importing to lightroom. Windows 10 kept resetting the ,jpg, .png, etc association to the photos app. Very frustrating. I google and tried all the recommended fix but while it works for a while, the next reboot the whole thing start over again.

Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.
