Sigma 30 1.4 vs. Sigma 28 1.8

It's been a while since I have talked about how much i like this lens. I don't have any experience with the competition though. I only know I love this lens. I really enjoy the macro focusing, colors, DOF, out of focus rendition, etc...

My only complaint is I have to adjust the lens and camera to switch from manual to auto focus, but all my Sigma lenses are like that.

Here are some favs of mine that I am sure I have posted before:

f/1.8 (f/1.7)

f/1.8 (f/1.7)

f/2

f/3.5

Amazing frogs Chaos_Realm.

I have not posted anything in a while. Here are a few i took at the Horicon National Wildlife Reserve. Thank you for looking.

1. I actually desaturated this one a bit. Then I sharpened using the high pass filter method.

Item Description
I have a nice Pentax FA 645 120mm f/4 macro lens with hood, caps, and Pentax soft case. Bought used from KEH in October of 2009.

This lens rarely gets taken out and was rated Excellent by KEH.

This lens show signs of use and has some tiny dust (nothing to affect image quality). This is one of my favorite lenses and a true classic. I have never used this lens on a FA645 camera so I cannot attest to the AF ability. I assume it works because it came from KEH. I use it on my Pentax k-7 with an adapter. Focus is smooth. $600 or best offer. Please PM me with any questions.

I will try to post photos in the next day or so.

Here is a link to some photos taken with the lens:

Thank you. I wanted to get the beer in there, but I agree that it didn't really work. And who drinks beer with cake anyway (except for me of course)? It was a quick shot though. I wanted to be sure to get the "Sacher" disc in focus. I guess if I would have removed the beer and the salt it would have turned out a little better, but even then I would have a distracting backround, but maybe less. I need to remember to pay more attention to my backround (I am making a mental note).

Thanks again.

It's been a while since I posted anything. Here is a recent shot from Basel, Switzerland. I liked the way this one turned out after some processing. I think the leaves look really cool.

From everything that I have seen, I would pick the Sigma EX DG 24mm f/1.8 over the FA* 24mm every time.

I ordered a hood for my K 85. I was super excited because it was so rare. Well, when KEH sent it, it was the M 85 hood labeled as the K 85 hood. I sent it back. They may still have it.

I guess those are the sacrafices that have to be made for f/1.8 (at 28mm) and near macro capabilities.

I use the FA645 120mm macro all the time and like it. I have the 80-160mm as well, but don't really use it and will probably sell it. I use them on a k-7 with the Pentax adapter. There is no mechanical connection so stop down metering is required. It is kind of a pain in the butt, but most of my photos in the PPG are with the macro. It is a very good lens. Other than the macro, I would say it isn't worth it. the A version of the macro can be had for pretty cheap, but other than that and maybe a few telephotos you are just paying for extra weight and size with no gain in image quality. This is just my opinion. Hope this helps.
