Sometimes, it's important to shoot as if there was film in the digital camera. Slow way down.... Also try learning how to shoot with a digital camera as if it had slide transparency film in it, where there was no post processing!

Why can't you just limit yourself to any number of images yourself. This discipline can be learned instead of "spray and pray"!

I have not yet found a solution, but someone else has also offered to 3-D print me a solution. Thanks for your generous offer nevertheless. So that I understand your solution..it would have to be an adapter Pentax K (female) to T (male) and then from T (male) to fit into M42 (female). Again I am trying to fit a Pentax K lens into a M42 "body" mount.

I guess I am justifying for a A7rIV. I am more than willing to support two camera systems, especially when some if not all my Pentax D FA , FA., A, and Takumar glass can be use on Sony MILC bodies when the Monster Adapter KA-KE1 Magic Ring Pentax K Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Adapter comes out.

OK, I just pick up a second 24mm/f3.5 except this one is a Super-Multi-Coated Takumar and it also has a diaphragm that doesn't return open as fast as it should. It's more usable than the older Super Takumar 24/3.5 that a got a month ago. Anyone suggest who does CLA on Takumar lenses these days?

I started looking on eBay and found the Pentax Bellows M, K, and A units. They are certainly rarer and more expensive than the Bellows II. Perhaps, I can find one at a bargain.

I just calculated that the K-Mark III and the D FA150-450/2.8 and the Sony A7rIV with the FE200-600 are approximately the same weight. The Sony A7rIV has 61 MP (full frame) and the K-3 Mark III has 26 MP (cropped sensor). The Sony kit costs $1500 more (here in the US). The issue is which kit will have the higher percentage of in focus images in birds in flight and action wildlife photography. Pixel count don't really matter, however image quality, and high focus accuracy does count. OK, I know the Sony has a higher FPS and that may or may not matter, but the DSLR has the optical viewfinder for possibly more accurate image tracking within the viewfinder. I'd like to this kind of shoot out.

I have all the pieces and parts (M42 and K extension tubes) to cobble it together with super glue or whatever. I understand the risk with the super glue and would look for a more secure method of cobbling the pieces together. I've looked for the Pentax Bellows M and Bellows K and it seems these are much rarer than the Bellows II since their asking prices are somewhat ridiculous. That is the reason for this search for an adapter. Perhaps I will find a Bellows K at a reasonable price in the future.

I have a K-1 Mk II, K-1, and K-3. The weight difference between the K-1 and the K-3 is 6+ oz. While this doesn't seem like a lot, when using all my full frame D FA lenses, every oz weighs on my tiring arthritic hands and body. My original kit with the K-1 was with the DFA 24-70/2.8. The second K-1 came with the newer DFA 28-105/3.5-5.6. I now prefer using the lighter weight glass or primes when all else possible. I love the FA77/1.8 Limited on either the full frame or cropped bodies. The DFA15-30/2.8 and the DFA70-200/2.8 are beasts to use all day. While switching to primes solves some of the weight issues, it certainly does not solve the slower focusing speeds of the K-1 versus the newer reported faster focusing speeds of the K-3 Mark III for birds in flight. For my low light, astro, landscape and architectural work, the K-1's are awesome. I still pack the K-3 as a back up body for my shoots, but perhaps I need to retire the older K-3 for a newer and faster focusing K3 Mark III. I have been looking at the Sony A7rIV for faster focusing in general, but the K-3 Mark III might save me some costs, but I also do like the issue of more pixels with the Sony. Perhaps the unannounced K-1 Mark III will incorporate the advances featured in the K-3 Mark III, but that will be literally years off. An upcoming African photo safari shoot in 18 months will need a faster focusing body for sure. I am pretty sure, as a diehard, going completely mirrorless is not in the cards for me. The more accurate viewfinder tracking with a DSLR is very important to me. An interesting shoot out for birds in flight would be the K-3 Mark III with the D FA150-450 versus the Sony A7rIV with the FE200-600. I’d rent these combos to see which set up performs best. Then there’s that new upcoming Monster adapter KA-KE1 that allows autofocus of Pentax lenses mounted on Sony MILC bodies.

My goal was to use test out the macro usefulness of the bellows with my UWA K lenses. Reverse mounting of UWA lenses is not always possible nor would it accomplish the intended UWA Macro with a a bellow unit. Yes, I could buy a Pentax Bellows K, but I already have a Pentax Bellows II (M42) mount for the lens. Obviously adapting the new K digital bodies to the Bellows II is not an issue.

While I have a vast library of M42 Pentax lenses and the Super Takumar Bellows 100mm/f4.0 M42, I want to be able also to mount any of my library of Pentax K lenses on my Pentax Bellow Unit II (M42) for macro work and experimentation.

I like the idea of sacrificing the shorter length extension rings of the M42 and K mount sets and perhaps gluing/super glue them together. I'll have to dig out and find my Pentax K mount extension tube set and check it out. I have plenty of the Pentax M42 extension tube sets.

Anyone ever hear of an adapter than converts a Pentax K lens to fit into a M42 body or accessory like the Pentax Bellows II. No, I do not have to focus at infinity and yes, that is correct, an adapter ring that converts K to M42, not the other way (I already have plenty of those adapter rings)

A few years ago I too was looking for an UWA lens. I tried two copies of the D FA15-30m/f2.8 and did not like their performance because of severe edge distortions on opposite sides of the two copies I tested. I then tried a Laowa 12mm/f2.8. After the first copy also had edge distortions, I settled on a second copy of the Laowa. These edge distortions are supposedly due to off center mounting of the lens for the Pentax and Laowa. The Laowa was far lighter and much more less expensive than the D FA15-30mm/f2.8. Fast forward to earlier this year, I had an opportunity to test and purchase a D FA15-30mm/f2.8 at a price I simply could not refuse. Last month I packed the Pentax 15-30 along with my other gear for our vacation. First, I liked this copy's performance, however, it's far to heavy, large, and yes the autofocus is nice, but not vital, and the zoom range is not that useful (I also have the D FA24-70). Additionally, on the Pentax 15-30, I later learned that I cannot use my 100x150 graduated Lee filter set that works fine on the Laowa 12. In the future I will likely sell off the Pentax D FA15-30/2.8 when I need to raise some cash for another item.

Only 6 digital bodies? What about film bodies? Let's see... Digital: K-1 MK2, K-1, K-3. K20D, ist-DS. Then film: 3-ME Supers, 2-K1000s, 1-Spotmatic ES, Spotmatic, Spotmatic II, and about 15 assorted non operational Pentax film bodies.... Then there's the glass library. It's not a condition...I keep repeating that to convince myself....

I wish someone would make the tripod foot for the D FA70-200 and the D FA150-450 so that it could attach directly to an ARCA mount and still have the threaded tripod mount in the 1/4 and 3/8" size.

Ok, I am trying to get myself into trouble in accessing the diaphragm blades/mechanism of a ST24/3.5 to remedy their slowness in reopening. I've removed some of the back parts of the lens and am not sure what's next. See attached image. I did removed the three screws and that did not seem to do much. Can someone tell me what's next to remove? Thanks in advance.

What is the solution to slow diaphragm blades opening back to full aperture and a stiff aperture ring? I have tried to "work" the aperture ring and pressing the auto pin many times and that does not seem to loosen things up. The auto aperture pin seems stiffer to press than other fully operational lenses.

Will you buy the k3 Mark 3?

I really don't know if I'd eventually get the K3 iii, perhaps.....My current K3 is still just fine....I'd love to see the K3 iii improvements and more pixels included into a K1 iii, but at what price? I already have a K3, K1, & K1 ii. The price of the K3 iii is the same or more than a K1 ii. Pentax/Ricoh is simply pricing themselves out the market for new users and daring those of us with far too much Pentax glass and gear to go elsewhere. Pentax is no longer the price worthy brand that gives you more features for less money. It's now a premium priced brand. I have a 50+ year legacy with Pentax bodies and glass. I am beginning to just wonder, what are they thinking about the recent premium pricing of their recent glass (DFA*85/1.4) and bodies (K3 iii). Pentax/Ricoh are you listening?
