This was shot while I wandering around an old winery in Los Gatos, California in 1969. Where did the time go?

Thanks for the comments, Charlie Victor. Actually, this should have been titled "Spring Thaw." Winter was pretty much over and the snow was almost gone. In the dead of winter, it would all be stark white, with 3-6 feet of snow and temperatures of 25-30 below zero F.

Thanks, Dave. A few years ago, I thought of assembling a collection of rail car graffiti. The local rail yard would be paradise for that kind of project, so I headed out. I hadn't been in the RR yard no more than 3 minutes and a black SUV pulled up, the window came down and I was told by a big man, in no uncertain terms, to vacate the property. He said it like one of the security guys at a Vegas casino when they "ask" you to leave!

I decided to forego the graffiti collection.

The "distortion" you see.... the "wiggle".... is actually there. It's not distortion as such.... but some old, worn out tracks that probably should have been replaced long ago. The photo I posted earlier, the B&W looking down the tracks, shows even more "wiggle." I'm not saying there isn't a lot of distortion, it's just not responsible for the wiggly tracks you see.

Not only do they pack a howitzer around with them, they can put that big, 33 lb. high explosive round in your lap from 7 miles away.... at night.... when you can't even see or hear them. And they can fire them as fast as 10 rounds per minute.

You have presented us with some amazing photographs. The one that really grabs me is the rose bud in the darkness. I love drama in photos and this one has it.... in spades! Thanks for posting these. You have a very bright future as a photographer. The last two - of the dog - reminds me of a friend of mine.

"Overly dramatic"? No way! I think this shot really grabs the eye. Tack-sharp focus, great bokeh.... what's NOT to like? Nice work, Tony.

A beautiful photo of the lady. I once had a dog that was half Cocker, half American Eskimo. A gorgeous combination and a magnificent dog.

Thank you for the kind words. This was one of my earliest outing with the 1:2 macro Sigma lens and I was putting it through it's paces, wanting to see how well it performed with that feature. I was very impressed. I thought it was very sharp, especially for a long focal length zoom. I've also had a couple of copies of their DG model, but found the APO DG to be a better lens - better color saturation and a little sharper - or at least it seemed so to my eyes.

Yep, you have him figured out. He wasn't a biter.... or at least he never acted like he wanted to, but every time I took my little dog for a walk, this big guy would stand up and look over the fence with the exact attitude you described.... "Is there something happening here that I should know about?" He could have easily have jumped over the 4' fence, but he was chill.

Yes, torashi.... it certainly was. It was an old farm that was on it's last legs. The little old widow lady that lived there alone was was much like the farm.

I have a few other shots taken during that outing. I'll post some of them soon.

The town I live in is a major transfer station for railroad traffic in the Pacific Northwest, so there's always lots of locomotives parked on the many side tracks. I need to venture out that way more often, me thinks. Due to the terrorism threat, they keep a real close eye on anyone that's on their property.

Thanks, Kevin. That lens was a real gem. Bought it at a yard sale, virtually NIB for $15. It was incredibly sharp and the color saturation and bokeh were stellar, especially considering that it was said to be a "plastic-feeling, cheap lens."
