K20D Overexposure Issue

I am talking about aperture priority, but to answer your other question I typically keep the camera as centre weight. But looking at it know it switched to spot again (as it often does in my bag). Although, I usually keep the AF and AE point the same in the custom menu. But again checking that it wasn't set right. I guess today is one of those days.:(

K20D Overexposure Issue

I have a K20D that I got almost 6 years ago and for a year its auto-exposure has been very spotty. I'm finding that about half the time is over-exposing by 2-3 stops. Today I got frustrated and set it to manual exposure and I had no issues. Is it new camera time?

I got rid of my program plus a couple of years ago. It was about 30 years old give or take. It still worked great, no problems with its electronics...I just had too many cameras.

This is unbelievable!! How can you have no labs in LA? Even here in Hamilton (45 min from Toronto) I have 3 to choose from. If I lived in Downtown T.O. I suspect that would be a half dozen easy.

Poll: Start with Pentax? Or switch to Pentax

I started late in the game with a used program plus, and went to a Pentax digital because of the lens reverse compatibility. Although I still love to shoot my MX and LX, I have to say that I am getting a little RF and TLR curious.

Not to be the contraian, but this is what has me so excited abput Fuji's new cameras. Sure they are computers that still encourage chimping, bit at least they're small and has a shutter speed dial on one side and you adjust the aperature on the lens...just like a REAL camera.

K1000 focusing with Spilt-image, possible ?

If you want a split-prism K1000, I think you just have to keep your eyes open. I have two, both later models. One Chinese, and one from HK. If you include the K1000 SE, by waiting and seeing what comes you can get any of the three combos of focusing aids you want. Just check out the K1000 database if your not sure. I think focus screen style is listed there.

I use my Roots Raiders Bag (I have laptop version so it's padded). Yeah, I know that it's not a camera bag, but I generally keep my 50mm on my camera and my 28mm and 135mm wrapped together in a padded wrap with all of the filters that I generally use, so it's too easy.

I don't know, this hasn't been my experience. Although this being said Nortown wasn't able to fix the sticky mirror syndrome on my LX, but for any job that wasn't done to their own satisfaction were at no charge (this also happened with a Yashica Electro). But so far I've had him take of at least a half a dozen jobs on my film cameras and they always came back in a much better condition that I sent them in.

I take all of my cameras to Nortown Photo on Harvester between Walkers and Appleby. He is very good and used to be a Pentax repair facility (until they took all that work in house).

Davep,

If you're willing to drive to Hamilton, there's an LX on consignment that I lust after each time I develop my film at Bell Arte (Bell Arte Camera Foto Source, Hamilton: Contact Us) for $250 (maybe $200 I can't really remember). I would hate to see it gone, but it would be nice to know that it went to a good home.

Just out of curiosity. Being from Bangalore do you blow your brains out on shipping costs from the States or the EU? One option may be the Japan Camera Hunter (http://japancamerahunter.com)...but looking at his website it appears that he's no longer selling film. He used to sell mystery bags which are kinda cool if your into that sort of thing (which I am).

PF Marketplace For Vintage Gear...Safe For Noobs?

All this is very interesting. Personally, I have never had any problems on the marketplace (in fact I just picked a M40 today...condition as promised, but I digress). Maybe I buy so little, the big resellers don't have anything that interests me, I don't know, but it's something to be on the look-out for. Although I just wanted to comment on asking to people lower prices. I feel that the marketplace is where two people can meet to sell and buy something. If there's something out there that I want to buy, but I don't want to pay the listed price for, I feel that asking the seller to lower the price is fair game. Just as it's his right to refuse my offer or offer a middle-ground. Haggling has a long an honourable tradition. I fully understand that some people don't like doing it. Some sellers are firm on their prices and some buyers never ask sellers to reduce their prices, that's fine. However, I don't think that anyone should begrudge someone's attempt at haggling.

Employee, I work in Research, I'm the Welding Engineer and manage the metallography and mechanical testing lab.

I absolutely agree. I think that lighting can be very tricky, but with there are all sorts of subtleties of shadow that can be caught especially with the bulldozer tracks. Oh well, if you work there maybe you can go back to some of those places and take some pictures anyways (however, then you'll have to worry about H&S concerns).
