It was a beautiful but cold morning today in Montreal. The St.Lawrence river produced a lot of fog and the boiler rooms were working overtime

Very neat presentation, your nightscapes are really really good. Seems it would be a fun presentation to watch. The only thing I didn't see in your presentation is how you go about actually stretching your histogram and how you make those nice colors pop like that but depending on your audience you may not want to go into that much detail. I'm also curious as to why you don't use the astrotracer instead of stacking?

The 135 F2 is quite an amazing lens. I do astrophotography with it and even at f/2.0 the stars are sharp corner to corner. The picture here is an example at f/2.0, it is a stack of 6 X 90 s + 4 X 15 s iso 800 with a K-5. My diy tracker needs adjustments so the stars are not perfectly round but this is the full frame so you can see how sharp the stars are in the corner. No CA corrections were made. Click to see higher res.

I did send an email to their general info account. Will report any news from them here. Since nobody here has actually seen a press release stating the end of production for the K-mount, I'll join the opinion of many here that the case reflects the reseller situation. Thanks to all for your replies.

Just tried to order a Samyang/Rokinon 35 mm F1.4 in Montreal and the two places I called said the system responded "item discontinued"!!! I rushed to order one from B & H before it's too late. Has anyone heard something about that? The guy at B & H said he heard the rumour but didn't have any information if that's really the case.

Beautiful image! I thought Australia summers were too hot for this kind of crop. When will this be harvested?

Beautiful, thanks for sharing an image from such a far out location. Really shows that beef and dairy cattle make the best use of marginal lands like this.

Thanks! Yes long exposures can make small town lights look like a metropolis sometime!

Many thanks to you all! Really glad you enjoyed my image! The engineer at Pentax who invented the astrotracer really deserves our infinite gratitude!

Had intended to shoot this with my DA* 50-135 but had really miscalculated the size of the scene. Good old reliable DA 35/2.4 was, as always, in my bag to save the day.

I used to think the astrotracer menu on the K-5 was really not user friendly compared to my K-50 but for blended shot like this one where I take a "traced" and an "untraced" image switching between the two modes is actually easier on the K-5.

The old Lorne School in Alexandria Ontario is brightly lit by light pollution from Montreal 80 km away.

Blend of two 60 s shots with Samyang 16 mm F2 @ f/2.0 iso 400.

That's what I would think also. As slartibartfast01, you can get sharp stars with up to 30 s with a 200 mm lens, the 560 mm is a bit much for the tracer. Here's a LINK to a video showing how to calibrate. Read the footnotes, they're important.

I have tons of fun with my 135 mm catching nebulas and comets (click for bigger):

K-50 and DA*16-50.

Dynamic range always impresses me with my K-50/K-5, don't think I could have made the shot with my old K-1000 and Kodacolor Gold 200!

This is a pano done using the A50/1.4 closed at f/2.0. An amazing lens for astrophotography! 4 frame pano, each frame is a stack of 4 X 60s iso 800 on a K-50 using the astrotracer function.

Jupiter takes centre stage on this one is a very crowded part of the Milky Way.
