Good idea!

I just bought used copies of The Pentax Way and The Nikon Way.

Herb Keppler was always a good read in Modern Photography.

I have been testing some cheap 675 hearing aid batteries, the common zinc-air type, in an old Konica C35 camera.
The original cell is still working, giving me the same exposure reading from a fixed light source, for over five months.

So dire warnings about short lifespan disproved I'm ready to give these things a go in some of my older cameras and meters.
I have purchased a number of passive adapters that will adapt 675 (or 44/76/457) size to fit MR-9/PX625.

Recently I've noticed some spots of rust just starting to show on my 2003.
This car has always been on Long Island, the last five right by the beach.

In the 1960's one of my an uncles lived somewhere on the Maryland shore.
IIRC my father said he had to buy a new car every few years due to rust-through.

No great shakes: my annual Columbus Day weekend leaf-peeping trip Upstate was cancelled this year anyway.
That's the only time all year I insist on shooting color slides. Now I have a year to read your reviews before I try it.

Little help picking K-mount SLR?

The weight difference is negligible in daily use. For the most part the smaller models that followed them were a marketing gimmick. In fact, they are often less ergonomic.

IMO buying what's cheapest is often shortsighted. It's better to spend a bit more to acquire the better, more sustainable - i.e. non-battery dependent and repairable - models.

There's a Domke F-803 satchel on Amazon Warehouse now for under $50, shipped free.
It's black ballistic nylon - not canvas - listed in Used -Very Good condition.

https://www.amazon.com/Domke-701-83B-Camera-Satchel-Black/dp/B00009R8AI/ref=sr_1_9?tag=pentaxforums-20&m=A2L77EE7U53NWQ&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1539605601&sr=1-9&keywords=domke

I have purchased several Domke bags from Amazon Warehouse.
Their "used-like new" and "used - very good" bags are typically
customer returns in excellent, new or near-new condition.

If you want it don't wait long; I'm not the only one who checks this stuff daily.
If a Pentax Forums member purchases this please post in this thread.

After dabbling in Ricoh/Sears K-mount cameras my first Pentax was a KX.
I tried practically all the Pentax manual focus models as well as a few AF.

The K series Pentax bodies are my favorites. KX, KM, and K2DMD are my keepers.

The question is what will you do?

I have used both of the aforementioned specialist repairers.
They are nowhere near Eric Hendrickson by any measure.

All good choices and also still bargains. I too prefer mechanical cameras.

But absent an Eric Hendrickson for the other brands they are all pretty much
disposable. Fortunately at current prices they can be considered as such.

The FE is miles ahead of the FM in features. It's like a K2DMD, only more refined.
I sold off my Nikon FM, FM2n and FE2 bodies. I still own 2 FEs, silver and black.

Original FE seems to be an even better buy. The FE loses the 3 red LED dots,
adds needle and bar on a scale for aperture priority AE or manual exposure,
much like K2DMD; it even has ADR to show selected aperture in viewfinder.

Other nice features are AE memory lock, user interchangeable focusing screens,
mirror prefire with self-timer, and 3.5 fps motor capability with MD-11 or MD-12.

FE and FE2 have electronic shutters and are battery-dependent.
The Nikon DB-2 remote battery pack fits these and other models.

Last time I checked the Nikon FM is still a bargain.

I owned and used Nikon FM, FE, FM2n and FE models.
IMO build quality is a bit better on the earlier FM/FE.

FWIW using normal speed films I seldom needed the higher shutter speeds on my FM2n and FE2...

I am sending a Vivitar V3800 with 50mm Vivitar lens to a friend on the West Coast.

He told me he is teaching an absolute beginner film photography.
If they get serious they can look for a better Pentax body and lenses.

My daughter was born in 1995. I just read that puts her on the cusp of Gen Y and Gen Z, whatever that means.
Despite being offered several attractive models, she has not picked up a film camera since she was about four or five. :(

Per management a contractor will replace all windows and balcony doors here.
Our unit is among the very first on the list, scheduled for December 10th.

Hopefully we won't have an early snow.
I feel sorry for those scheduled for January and February.

Our balcony railings were removed six months ago and we have been unable to access it.
They have been working with jackhammers ostensibly repairing the slabs and brickwork.
It sounds like they are right outside my window every day, all day, while I am trying to sleep.

Anybody ever see the movie Pacific Heights?

Machinery 77 Marquis

My friend's father owned a mid-1970's Marquis, brown in color.
It had an enormous trunk in which he kept many personal items,
including two Nikon F2 cameras and a selection of Nikkor lenses.

I thought it risky to keep them there; property crime was high then.
Despite being parked on the street the car was never broken into.
