Could be me, but I don't see that much in the new design that makes it better. I haven't examined it very closely yet though. I wish I knew how much longer it will be until the Mark ii is out. I wonder if Flashpoint will even release the Mark i in Pentax at this point?

FLASHPOINT R2 PRO Mark II Transmitter – Released! | FLASH HAVOC

An upgrade is coming out for the same price! Now the question is for those who preordered, what should we do? Cancel? I wonder if Godox will even put out the version we ordered, or just give us the new one instead?

I was thinking the same thing! I brought my second camera to a football game, thinking I would be able to do the same thing. Found out quickly that it would take a lot of practice to be able to do that!

Really interesting image Tas. Cool that the board still seems to be going by itself and his body position doesn't look like he got thrown off!

I have this lens. Nice lens, I really like it. I did not know it would have to go back to Sigma to make it work with the K-1?

My son's first football game since he was 9 years old. He's a HS senior, WR #5. Had a big game, proud of him. Biggest problem for me, as a parent, you don't see the game very well when taking pictures! These are some of the best ones, many many worse ones taken. By the end of the game proper is exposure is somewhere around 1/350 f2.8 ISO6400. Very difficult then.

Thank you very much to Richfam and GvilleRick for answering my questions, I appreciate it. Rick, is your flash on camera? How do you prevent ghosting at 1/200? The K-5ii max synch speed is 1/180. Have you ever tried HSS?

I have to try and learn to use back button focus.

Many great photos posted by many people here, I have enjoyed catching up with this thread.

My son is playing high school football this year at WR. Looking for advice from GvilleRick and Rtmarwitz (and anyone else with experience shooting football). I have a K-5 and K-5iis. Primary lens for better light will be a Sigma 100-300 f4, and in lower light a Sigma 70-200 f2.8.

1) What setting do you use for focus? I am trying to choose between center point and Auto 5
2) Do you use a Monopod?
3) What mode do you shoot in? I have experimented with AV, M, and was thinking of TAV.
4) What's the highest ISO you use?
5) Advice on field positioning?
6) I am surprised by how difficult it is to keep up with the action on pass plays. You don't know where it's going, and getting focus on the eventual receiver is very tough!
7) What other tips do you have?

Thanks for your help!

So glad Pentax isn't making a mirrorless now!

Can someone educate me on the advantages of mirrorless? I remember when they were first discussed, people were talking about their smaller size, but since the lenses for them are so big, that doesn't really matter. Has Sony mirrorless been so successful because they were mirrorless, or because they had great features? Thanks.

Thank you all for your replies. I am attaching a picture from it that is typical.

I didn't bother checking because I thought the repair would be at least $100. Is it possible it would be less than that?

Repair a DA-40mm XS lens?

Hi all,

I have a DA-40mm XS lens that I bought with my X-01 a while back. It worked fine for years, then one day I noticed that all of a sudden all the pictures from it were totally blurry, unusable. It's not a focusing issue, nothing is "in focus" Many times, pics will be overexposed as well. I don't remember ever dropping it or bumping it. I do notice when looking at it though a tiny ding on the front. I'm guessing it must have gotten banged somehow.

I think they only sell used for about $140, so I assume it's not worth sending out to try and fix? Based on what I described, should it be easily fixable? I guess I'm just looking for advice on what to do. Thanks.

Xpro-P TTL Wireless Flash Trigger for Pentax

Thanks, great information. One other question I have. If I am using the XPro, and I have changing lighting conditions that will require HSS in some cases, but not others, is there any disadvantage to putting it in HSS mode? If not, why have a separate mode at all?

I am waiting very impatiently for these!

I have a Godox TT600 and V850ii. So for those, obviously no TTL, but will I have to switch between HSS and non HSS on the flash itself?

So psyched for this! Ordered one. On the Godox site, it mentions camera bodies supported, and the K-5 is not listed. I hope that is not really an issue.

Rumor was going around that Godox/Flashpoint was going to come out with a Pentax versio of the XPro. So that will negate the need for the Cactus v6ii in this setup, right? (If it ever materializes)

Based on the what we have seen from the 50mm 1.4 just released, does anyone have any comment on how that lens affects their opinion of the upcoming 85 1.4? I have not read much on the 50mm 1.4 yet, but some photos that I have seen have been very impressive!

Thanks for your detailed review. I will have to read it again in more detail when I have time. So, you suggest the Canon model over the Nikon one?
